I don't know any of the band members personally - I just had their EP on my HDD and since there were no music tracks of Winterfell uploaded on Youtube, I felt like I'm supposed to share their music with the community. :P However, I agree with you in each point you listed up here.

Wow..I'm torn. I really like the song, and I'm a huge fan of the GRRM books, but it does sound a LOT like early Iced Earth. The singer especially sounds like he is even trying to imitate and Barlow. Which he does very well. So consider that a compliment. All I'm saying is that if you want to take a serious shot at getting signed you need a sound that stands out as your own, and not a mimic. Good luck, you have the talent, just strive for originality.
@hallows99 This song is from their 2003 DEMO. They released a full length album in 2007 which showcases a more mature and "own" sound and shows more (technical) talent than all of Iced Earth's albums combined. And I'm a huge Iced Earth fan, so that's saying something. Well, used to be, anyway... Unfortunately the band split up not long after the album's release.

As much as I like the song, the music doesn't really fit. It can still be metal, it just needs a little more "grand" of a sound.
