i really really REALLY like SALEMs music. even i must admit, this is a good example of how excess inevitably ruins a live performance or two of a young band. that or they were just fuckin with everyone. or just didnt give a fuck. these are all possibilities for others much younger than myself to ponder and figure out.
to the untrained ear MBV may sound bad. but one should know that they are probably the most beautiful and unique band in existence. salem proved themselves to me with their studio albums. and who cares if they dont sound the same live if you truly love the band it doesnt matter. people are too concerned about "correct procedures" in live performances. its good to be different even if you get negative criticism
They're a studio band and have no business playing live. That said, their studio material is phenomenal. I LOVE them. But, yeah, they blow live. Another phenomenal studio band that sucked live is My Bloody Valentine.

This is so bad it almost seems like a joke. She can't sing and the guy who raps for them can't keep time on the drum pads to save his butt. Her singing literally shatters glass. Maybe that's what they're looking for?
They shouldn't clap. They should come up with a new way to respond to sullen music, like a deep"mmmmmm" or something. The clapping seems to generic and forced. lol
are they ALL ON CRACK!!! WTF...lol! why didn't they stop her at the beginning and say " listen sweetheart this just isn't gonna work out, this is quite a big performance for us and while I love you (like a sister) I think you singing for us will just cock it up!"

awwww the poor dears.if you use a lot of fx on the voice the chances are the front of house sound will be fine but this version might well be the monitor/on stage mix - sound engineers don't like putting fx on the monitors for a number of reasons though mainly because they're lazy sods.
this doesn't sound as good as the recorded ver, but that's entirely the fault of her voice, which shouldn't be that loud or crisp in the mix anyway. i still love this song to death. (it's called 'frost,' btw.)
