That's a pretty awesome system. i never understood why really good products were produced in such small amounts then abandoned. You'd think something like this bridge would be really popular with bassists that use a tremolo.
@flutch02 Steinberger has a lot of patents - especially the TransTrem which to my knowledge has never been copied. 'nothing amazing made by Steinberger ' is a very retarded comment comming from you 'lol'
Clearly you have issues with basic politeness, as well as the laws of physics. Be good enough to put a video up of these trems which defy those laws, save me journeying across the atlantic?
Kindly conduct youself if a manner which does not involve you insulting others also
Every statement you make shows up how ill-informed you are. ONLY a transtrem allows the bass to stay in relative tune with itself as its used.
lol clearly you are a fanboy and from anyones experience with a fanboy it is common knowledge that you will remain biased and totally pig headed and deny the possibility of anything else either out performing or doing the same as your treasured brand, but bad news is that it does, i dont need to prove it you are the one that needs to prove that this is the only trem that does it, when almost all other brands do also when setup correctly, and by a luthier not a guitar shop twat
rofl, why bother? so you can call it a fake? adobe after effects or overdub? etc etc etc, not something that would be unusual from a fanboy of course, there is nothing elaborate or amazing about this bass or its trem, only a fanboy like u would think so, i find it hilarious that you are so adamant about it yet you have no real idea, i mean clearly you have never used a correctly setup, hipshot, kahler, stetsbar trem at any time.
hey all i said was this ISNT the only trem that does what this virgin twat loser in the video claims, he is the one claiming its the only one that does what he says, even stienberger dont make that claim, if anyone needs to prove that its him, and if its such a unique build why arent all guitar manufacturers lining up to use it? cos they can get the performance from basically all other trems on the market. not exactly brain surgery
@fryBASS Like most discontinued items, lack of demand. Plus, Steinberger was purchased by the Gibson Guitar Corporation, which has a history of lowering quality control & then completely dismantling entire companies. They did so with Tobias Basses, Kramer & Valley Arts Guitars, and Singerland drums. I for one would *LOVE* to have the chance to purchase either a New Old Stock or high-quality newly-built version of the Steinberger Bass TransTrem.
@slapguitarer the strings are tuned at the bridge with micro tuners, you see, the strings are double balled to be held by tension on both end of the guitar. The strings are held by cavities mounted at the headstock and placed into the slots in the bridge. Another thing, the strings are a specific length to fit specific guitars. that answered your question bitch ! (I'm calling you a bitch cause i don't know if you're a women asking stupid shit or simply an ignorant kid) have a good life lawwwwwl
I have a XM -T that I'm thinking about selling but mines black though. You may have inspired me to hang onto it now...I didn't realize it was as rare as you say.
hahahahahahahaha!!! FUCK YEAH MATE!!! neither did I!!! this is awesome!!! i was just thinking about it the other day... i mean, about making a bass with a tremolo...
you have a version 2 q4. About a month ago i found a version 1 q4 and it was in great condition..it has sorta turned a cream color with age but its is ok. I just broke the jaw on my g string and i should have the replacement this week...im 35 and i grew up in the 80s. I was captivated by steinbergers..some people love them others think they are hideous..i can say they are rock solid instruments, i broke my claw by accident it wasnt the bass's fault..nice video..
Hahaha... I don't think I even realized that you were recording me when I was telling you about it. I thought you were holding the camera and getting ready to take a picture.
Yeah ! Ceci est une steinberger XM2A made in newburg USA équipée avec un vibrato de type transtrem (bof) . J'aurais bien aimé qu'il en joue un peu ; c'est une basse mythique ( d'ailleurs j'en ai une !!! )
The Steinberger model designation is XM2TA. X=Bass, M=body style (as opposed to the L, which is the "boat oar" small rectangular shape), 2=pickup config, T=TransTrem, A=Active electronics. I got it on ebay several years ago from the original owner for $1500.
I was explaining the transtrem and didn't realize that I was being recorded. I wasn't intending to show it off, or I actually would've played something.
That's a pretty awesome system. i never understood why really good products were produced in such small amounts then abandoned. You'd think something like this bridge would be really popular with bassists that use a tremolo.

whats so revolutionary? my kahler and stetsbar trems do exactly the same shit done in this video, stop being a retarded brand fan boy, lol
flutch02 2 months ago
@flutch02
Your Kahler does not transpose in tune.
Each string remains in relative tune with the others as the trem is used. Given the different rate of detuning on each string, its quite an invention
