  • why does she have an attitude? i just want to play the violin ='[.....i feel like im back in high school detention or something

  • *Blinks* I don't like you,You yelled at me.I'm telling my mommy on you

  • Comment removed

  • Advanced violinist use finger tapes? Also, that's a lovely bow hold. (Note the sarcasm.)

  • Why are you yelling at me.

    :'(

  • thanks for the lessons

  • I was unaware there was tape! I was thinking of painting the lines in like they do on an electric bass guitar. I am glad I saw this! No one else on Youtube discusses it. Thanks tons!

  • Geez, thanks I was starting to get confused.

  • Mess with her & that fiddle's gonna crack ya skull

  • Wow, she's a moron.

  • MAN THE HARPOONS

  • first note of D string is E? correct but your playing E flat XD wahahaha

  • Just bought a new violin, Had it set up at the music store. bought two video's to look at. I have fat hands and somewhat short fingers, will there be a problem for me .

  • Thank you for sharing hun.

  • She is such a terrible instructress... Screaming all the time and acting very cocky, even though her tone's really bad.

  • Yes there is, it's called a half step or whole step! Arghh!!!!

  • Why d fuck u'r so mad?

  • she is hot.nice ass

  • i clicked on this and forgot my volume was all the way turned up fucking made me jump lmfao :) thought it would be a good idea to relearn what ive forgotten when i was about 9 or 10 as i stopped playing the violin round about that age as i moved and went to a differant school. but still thank you for letting me regain somewhat of the concept that i forgotten. as it was a free lesson

  • Wow she sounds angry T_T

  • Try to be less um, agressive? It was like someone going OBVIOUSLY RAWR!! Lol i acctually thought it was a prank video until the slow realisation dawned that this lady was in fact genuinely 'teaching' :/ thanks all the same :)

  • "Advanced Violinist"???? I'm deeply sorry, but could you please stop telling people bull****! Honestly, very very bad technique!. Don't watch these videos. I don't want to be rude, it's totally great that you are practicing the violin, but please stop giving wrong advice to young violinists out there!

  • bad

  • i think u should start over again. this is like beginner teacher another beginner violin.

  • @theBlue123498 lol you are rite

  • sorry hunny but ur not an advanced player =(

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for nothing lady

  • @llamalauren loolzz u madd funny

  • bitchy

  • "Hey, I'm an advanced violinist and I still use fingering tape for practicing purposes."

    -Amy Oliver

  • @NukleheadMcSpazatron well then lets see you play every single song at the same time.

  • i wonder if she charges for lessons at home ... omfg is this what music has come to?!?!?!?!

  • Apparently being an "expert" doesn't mean anything anymore.

  • o wow, at 1:17, did she REALLY just call herself an "advanced" violinist, oy vey...

  • Wait, isn't the note after D, D#(Eb)?

  • Comment removed

  • "FLIPPING it in your FACE!!" HAHAHAHAHAHA soooo good hahaha i'm not hatin! I just think it's funny lol

  • with this video kids will try to do vibrato and they will never sound good

  • I swear, if I had watched this whole vid i would've ended up hating the violin.

  • she just seems nervous to me... i think its crazy everyone jumping her ass for it. why dont you make a better video then?

  • How is the first note being E obvious? This is a video for beginners-- nothing is obvious!!! I actually expected you to say "D". . . .

  • @BusyPenguin sooo true :P hahaha

  • Heinous Bitch

  • There is a method and a calculation for knowing where your fingers go. It's called "good positioning" and "practice intonation". Two concepts which you don't seem to have any understanding of.

  • THERE`S NO METHOD AND NO CALCULATION... !! Oh my god what an agressive cow.

  • I'm sorry. If you're a beginner, please don't watch these. They demonstrate terrible bow hold, not to mention intonation! I've looked at several of these videos now, and apparently this woman must not even know how to tune her own violin strings.

And P.S, there is a method "and a calculation" for where your fingers go on the fingerboard. It's called experience. Saying "there's no method" is a TERRIBLE thing to plant in a beginner's mind. There are better instruction videos out there.

  • @onlymusicmanmoran

could you mention some? I'm learning how to plat the violin

  • @onlymusicmanmoran please tell me which ones?

  • @moiaiyou19 One would be by using reference tones and combining that with tape guides. Saying that there is "no method" is simply preposterous, it makes it sound as if there's some kind of magic involved with creating sound, even though it's basic physics at work.

  • @Demoras thank you, Demoras!

  • Her bow hand is horrible! And her left hand position isn't any better

  • I think she is trying to pick a fight with me

    :D

  • this chick needs some D

  • LMAO she is definitely screaming at us "you may even have an accident with one for your strings; flipping it in your face"...lmao SHe SCREAM FACE mas funny

  • SHE ATE MY VIOLIN :((.

  • wow quite informative . very aggressive but all in all pretty good thanks for your time in making this video . havent looked at the others yet but i plan to . so thanks again

  • /watch?v=xhFVPcIaHP4

This is a great online violin site! Check out this video for more information. :D It's much more than just a bunch a videos strung together. It's a real and customizable course.

  • No need to yell! We can hear you! But very informative and VERY useful. Now I know where to place my finger and *sniff* that I must cut my nails. I will miss them very much.

  • Guys, I agree that the lesson was off base and people should get their information from elsewhere, but all the fat insults? Bunch of middle school kids in here.

  • baaaaahahahahahahahahahaaaaaahahahahaaahahahahahahaaaahahahahhabbabaahahahahhahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as an incoming grad student for violin performance this video makes me want to punch her fat and make it jiggle.

  • oh amy beautifulyou are! if youve been touring all around for all those years you must be great!!! come on show us what you can really do, play us your g major mozart. pleeeeeeeease!!! i have like a hundred friends that would love to see it. or the sibelius thats a ncie one, not to hard for the likes of you im sure. i still need coloured tape on my cello, how you can see that black stuff is beyond me , but anyway thanks

  • Advanced violinists do not need "fingering tape" for 3rd and 5th positions. And yes, we do know exactly where our fingers need to go. If you can't hear it for yourself when you practice, buy a tuner and use it. But what is really bothering me is your bow hold. If I were your teacher, we'd be doing LOTS of right-hand exercises.

  • A FINGERING TAPE?!

  • Are you rudely boasting your mad violin skills to make up for being fat and ugly?

  • @RockyBouldersmith at least she has talent, which I doubt you have in anything at all.

Fat and ugly? Rofl, I think she's pretty :-)

  • @Lity10 no really youre wrong she has no talent, none whatsoever. period. this video i found not too long ago of some girl playing: /watch?v=f9sVpgcsUKU . shes completely amateur, as amateur playing goes its pretty good and it shows how you should play a violin atleast which poor amy here doesnt

  • @gnamus even if ure right, u have no right to insult her. Moron

  • @Lity10 and she has no right to present herself as a violin player, let alone an advanced expert player, to a world of people like yourself who dont know any better. shes taking advantage of peoples ignorance, thats sad and pathetic but also rude and condescending, and its not right or fair to you or anyone.

  • @gnamus She went Berklee coledge of music, she has to be good. Ignoramous.

  • @bassbass99able i know lots of people that have been to lots of uni's all over the world, some of them are great players, i know lots of people that go to my uni, some of them you wonder why theyre bothering and how they managed to get in. just because you go to some uni or other doesnt mean a damn thing. at all. and as far as i can tell berklee college is orientated almost entirley towards contemporary music anyway. CLEARLY shes useless at playing a violin. and no im not ignorant

  • @bassbass99able how the fuck did this bitch get into Berklee College of Music. She obviously does not demonstrate ANY professional skill on the violin

  • @Lity10 You're ignorant.

  • @RockyBouldersmith according to violins maybe, yes, but you're a stupid little disgusting prick. So go fck yourself.

  • Thanks for the vid!!! kutgw!!

  • Flipping it in your face!!!! Lady if you didnt want to do this video no one was making you!!! STOP BEING MEAN!

  • STOP YELLING AT ME! YOURE BEING RUDE!!!!!

  • @vegasnegas111 Good work lady

  • @vegasnegas

    111 Good work lady

  • Really? "There's no method or calculation for determining where your fingers go on the violin?" Last time I checked, with my 16 years of violin experience and 3 years of viola experience AND 4 years of Music Education experience......I'm pretty sure there is. There is a calculation for locating specific notes...It's called hertz or cents. I totally agree with @inooy and she has plenty of experience as well and all of her comments are correct.....

  • not exactly "expert" if there's finger tapes for 3rd position..

  • advanced? what

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS VIDEO IS REAL. What do you mean there is no method or calculation for determining where your fingers go on the violin??? What do you think the intervals are for? You CAN calculate to locate specific notes. The only reason why we don't have to calculate each time is because of our muscle memories. Playing with the tip of your finger is fine but if you're advanced enough, you'd know that flat fingers will give you a warmer tone (for some) and a wider vibrato.

  • terrible vibrato

  • somebody needs some humbling... o.0

  • Lady, it honestly sounds like you are yelling at me through this video; that is not conducive to the learning environment.

  • Horrible vibrato.

    Incorrect bow hold.

    Annoying voice.

"Other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?"

  • so no finger positon on the g,d,a,e, strings?

  • what'd y'all expect , guess she got plenty o' those in her face already, that phat patronising btch

  • flipping it in your face - lol

  • she emphasizes how she is an ADVANCED violinist...which makes her look incredibly dumb.

  • Whoever does not like, has to shut up ! That Girl has a big heart, and trying to help. After listening to her, I am managing better on my Violin.

  • @Judexy22 That's great news. Keep up the good work. But please shop around on youtube, you will find better examples than this I promise. And if you wish to achieve your potential please do not model yourself on this girl as no matter how big her heart is she is demonstrating things wrongly. If you copy her you will have to unlearn many bad habits later. Better to find a decent Violin teacher and check out some good videos soon. Good luck.

  • Comment removed

  • DON'T TRY TO MAKE THAT SOUND!!!

  • @ShawnBoucke yeah....why is she using vibrato as an example?!

  • r u yellin at me bitch?

  • "flipping it in your face"

  • DAMN!! Stop yelling at me!! I feel like I just got home late from a night with the boys! WTF?

  • Maybe her blood-sugar's low or something. Very condescending it seems.

  • Nice try, but not helpful. I think I am not going to keep playing because I do not want to break a string an take out an eye.

  • @Creeway Please keep playing. Do not be discouraged. There are precautions that you can take. Please see my comment to handmiadenofgod.

  • this was helpful, thank you

  • Flying strings of death caused by fingernail?!?!? W.T.F!

  • @QueenKazooie I bought some faulty strings the other day that snapped hitting me in the face. I went back to the shop and demanded my money back but they refused to give me a refund. They noticed that my finger nails were a bit long and told me that's what had made the strings snap and said if I did not believe it then I should watch this video for proof. If only I had seen it sooner this would never have happened and I wouldn't have to wear these dreadful eyepatches.

  • @mrwasbesonders Oh, that's awful. I'm really sorry :( You must have gotten some pretty thin strings though, because I started playing a few months ago and had pretty long nails as well, until my teacher told me I should cut them, and none of my strings snapped.

  • @handmiadenofgod Thank you for your sympathy and kind words. I am coming to terms with the eye patches now though I shall never set foot in that dreadful music store that sells those ultra thin longfingernailunproof strings again. As a precaution I have cut my finger nails, put double bass strings on my violin as they are much thicker, and only play my violin while wearing a motorcycle crash helmet with a visor. These measures should prevent a reoccurrence of this catastrophic traumatic event.

  • @mrwasbesonders Well, one can never be too cautious...

  • @QueenKazooie haha

  • wow! is this the Hobby nowadays?? people are so Board with there life they have to go on youtube and post derogatory remarks about people that just want to help other people playing an instrument, enhance their performance skill?

    Dudes, get a LIFE =D

  • @dtayl0611 Not Board with life, just genuinely warning against these videos that will help nobody to enhance their performance skill. Not unless they are a clown in the circus, that is.

  • men you look pretty if your slim I swear

  • I don't know what kind of fingernails she has if they pop her strings

  • @violiner9391 When she's not playing the violin with her string snapping finger nails she is out scratching Grizzly Bear's to death. They are at least grateful she isn't playing her violin to them.

  • Good GOD she is FLAT. Even when she plays it "on tune" like she says! D:

  • Sorry but your 'E' was pitched at an Eb...

  • fingering tape... lol...

  • advanced violinists NEVER use fingering tape.

  • This is teaching me way better then my orchestra teacher. So everyone shut up! Whoever started this disrespectful insults needs to shut the hell up because If it werent for you, no one will feel like they need to join the group and insult with you.

  • How I wish the string would flip into your face... LOL.

  • @JeremyImp it should be your face. and all the strings. 2 for each eye.

  • ummm... that e she played at the very beginning was REALLY flat. just saying.

  • why do ppl's judge other people...

that's not very nice at all...

even if she's shouting or anything...

well she's just making her voice loud bcuz some Videos they are talking but their voice are to low and some eat their words.. so some can't be understand...

well nothings bad in judging other ppl but judge in a nice way

not a barbaric way of judging...

    learn to respect people...

  • @xXarvhiesyxX That's actually very judgemental. Your judging people for judging, and now I am judging you for judging them for judging her. Please stay true to your principles and don't judge me for this.

  • youre hilarious! thanks for the giggles :)

  • Thank you for uploading :)

But there's no need to shout :)

  • @monstergirl66613 she's not shouting, just projecting her voice like an experienced rhetorical artist.

  • is the camer man an a perv?

  • flat same as you jaja

  • why is she shouting at me? :(

  • @binboyuk LOL

  • Although informative, you are a little too aggressive and patronising for me.

  • @Candlegary i agree... she could give the best instruction on earth, and i don't think i could bear to listen to her another second.

  • @Candlegary But other instructional videos are so hard to understand due to the fact that the teachers do not speak clearly and distinctly. I think that is what this woman is trying to do. I have no problem understanding her. But she does remind me of a stern russian teacher named Olga. ;)

  • @Candlegary yea and the camera works bad

  • You are a wonderful Teacher. I wish I could marry a Violin Teacher !

    ou are wonderful !

  • The "E" she played didn't sound in tune... it sounded flat.

  • just imagine you highschool principal.. lol shes effective..

  • Obviously lol

  • i think she speaks effectively, very loud and clear

  • @raiden1034 she's hungry and cranky lol. MOOOO

  • Comment removed

  • What a porky piece of meat. I'd hit it hard >:P

  • This girls sounded so rude and mean.

  • LOL! sheesh. She's so demanding. Not only does it seem like she's shouting at us, she also seems kind of bitchy. lol

  • hahaha WHAT? how could anyone possibly have nails sharp enough to cut a violin string!? i seriously hope no one is legitimately taking the things she says as sound musical instruction, she has have some of the most insanely incorrect technique i've ever seen

  • LOL, SEEMS LIKE SHE'S SHOUTING AT US, LOL!!!!!!!

  • holy shit....138,810 VIDEOS how does she get the time?!?!!?

  • @FaithifyBL00DApplex uh.... it's an expertvillage video. not like her very own channel or something.

  • she trys to sound like she knows it all.

but her e was flat before she layed her finger down flat to make the note flat. and her vibrato sucked. and "advanced violinists" such as "herself" dont need any finger tape at all. she doesnt need to be telling people how to play

  • hahahaa, shes kinda bein a bitch about it. "always keep your nails Trimmed" -_-

  • i'd fuck her

  • @adingoatemygirl

    LOL...me too...

  • LOOL at the "flipping it into your face" sounds like more of a threat than a heads up

  • Damn! aggressive.

  • @123normalperson I wonder if she's as cruel and cowardly as you? Somehow, I doubt it.

  • Agreed, But I have to side with @123normalperson about her personality, obviously her weight has nothing to do with it. But she comes across as big headed. she thinks she's better than us? apparently we aren't as 'advanced' as her.
