I really love your trees the best. They are fantastic!!! I'm gonna use your tree making process in my model train layout. Thank you soooo much for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!
@merkonerko2 Kind of ironic! With the internet sometimes is hard to see the trees for the forest! Hope my tutorial helps. I have a whole bunch of terrain and tree making tutorials on my website too :)
I use good old pipe cleaners. Easy to bend to shape and already has a decent wood effect. Seen people using bandages for thicker trees soaked in PVA watered down.
Just how I do it, always nice to look at how other people do it though, my method wont do as well as yours for making thick trees though, neither can mine have knots.
Thank you for the video. The only thing I wish is that I could watch you do the parts that are skipped over because of time. I wouldn't know how to add the foliage like that. I thought the same on your sculpting minis video too. I wish that YT would let you have longer videos so I could see how you sculpted the details. Thanks again.
some of the branches are visible, and takes away from it i think, they appear way too skinny for the trunk, would it make sense to apply sculpy to parts of the branches as well?
5 stars for that 1 as well -i have a question can u do a tutorial on making buildings it would be a great help for the stop motin movie im doing the tree does seem pretty hard but i will try: please do the buildings it would be a great help
well i've had some tree models now for over a year.. so i think they are good in the long term if they aren't being moved too much. Although i've never experienced it, i would assume some heat sensitive adhesives could be trouble under intense lighting.. also have to be careful about scraping and chipping little pieces during shooting for continuity..other then that it's Green, cheap, and already comes fully detailed thanks to mother nature..
Thanks for the post.. can never seem to find much on this topic.. especially b/c i don't do "minatures' persay.. the characters in my stop animation are about 8-10 inches tall.. so the trees i'm creating are anywhere from 24"-35"
Cool, I am going to be doing a stop motion animation tutorial with pipe cleaners. I haven't done a stop motion tutorial in a while. Need to do another :)
Really detailed and shows us a fantastic way of doing it. Really different to how I would do it and is a much better way. I just don't quite know how you do it!
Do you know anyway of making a trench diorama? It would be a really fun video to make im sure and I could really use it for a trench project im about to be given.
Thanks! I do have a trench making video somewhere in my playlists. Its not real detailed, it just shows how to make the shell of the trench. Maybe it will help. You have got to send me pics of your project!

A quick tip, if you use papertape for the trunk instead of clay it'll give a nice woody effect, and it'a lot cheeper then plastic clay.
ghostboy777 1 year ago
@ghostboy777 Excellent tip. thanks, I will give it a try.
