at the reactor he was pretty much stronger then zack and cloud but i felt that out of there former friendship he kinda faket his death by letting cloud trow him in the makoreactor and btw i think that stuf exualy healed him when he was trown down,perfect way to disapear and be declaired dead after al he was way above every1 els intuelectualy
when he heard that stuf from genesis in the reactor he didnt walk away already mad,he walked away to find out the truet himself cause he didnt execly trust genesis at that moment annymore when he spend days reading then he slowly found out the truet and that he was used and manipulated that kinda pissed um of then he almost figuurd al humans where stupid and ingorent that wy he started shopping them down
It's nice to see Sephiroth smile genuinely and actually look happy. I used to be scared of him but here he seemed like an all right guy. I <3 you Sephy and Zacky!
I've been scared and disgusted by Sephiroth for a long time (I really like Aeris) but seeing this scene and the mako reactor scene when he snaps... Oh, I want to cry and wheep on his tragic story... And when he alludes to Aeris and to Zack's feelings for her it's really like... :'( :'( Aaaah Sephiroth!!

Sep was always a good guy. He always did what he felt was the right thing and stuck to it. He had some serious self honor and all those who opposed him when he was good or bad had to face a seriously badass side of him. :)

I think Jenova kind of merged with Sephiroth in his mind - how else could he communicate with her and know all her wants and needs? In fact the creators mention during Advent Children that Sephiroth's will is the most powerful in the FF7 verse meaning he can't be controlled by anyone. In the lifestream he kept himself alive just by focusing on his hate on Cloud.
@PrinceSephiroth Sephiroth burnt down a village and killed the townsfolk. Then he thought humans were stupid and that he should rule the planet with Jenova. He tries to kill Cloud and his friends many times. He's evil and insane just like Kefka, though not as insane as him.

Seeing Sephiroths "human" side makes his story much more tragic... It's sad to see what he has become in FF7... but he is the best villain in the game universe xD
Dante and Sephiroth are the same in a way, both great at weilding a sword, both are cool people, both are kind to friends, both are not human, and both are serious in battle.
In a way, Sephiroth could have turned into a Superman-like character if he had been raised by a family like the Kents...but nooooo he had to get f@#$ing Hojo and ShinRa as parents.
@Reddasx It was because he found out he was part of the Jenova experiment that Shinra never told him about. He was very angry with Shira and feel betrayed. He also initially misunderstood that Jenova was a Cetra (a special kind of ancient civilisation) that was betrayed by the humans and extinct. Believing he was the last Cetra, he despise humans and blamed them for Cetra extintion. He did however found out that Jenova was an alien but his goals did not change in the game.

what most people dont realize is that sure sephiroth may go insane later in the game but he was not the one who killed aeris or aerith. most people think he did but if they played the game and actually remembered a text in the game. it was jenova who killed aerith while in sephiroths form.
very very true! Sephiroth, after falling into the Lifestream after being wounded within the Nibelheim Reactor, used the lifestream to go to the Northern Crater, and there was where he stayed until being given the Black Materia by Cloud. Proved that Sephiroth's will was so strong that even Jenova succumbed to his will, and she turned into him, and that was who you fought throughout the game of FF7 til the very end. ^_^
Seph looks almost human here. I mean... not a blood thirsty monster who wants to destroy the world. He actually cares for someone. that's nice, it shows what had been lost when he went mad.
It truly is sad, even worse than the whole Anakin Skywalker comparison. Sephy was totally pure hearted and NOT a whiny bitch, he was an all around nice guy. How someone this pure of heart became the most evil bastard in video game history is BEYOND me, but I still love his evil side :) badass both ways
@falcone4life Imagine idolizing the company enough to fight and kill for it. Being a soldier, you have to question whether or not you're fighting for the right cause. Take Zack and Sephiroth. They both wanted to do good, but they both found out the institution they believed in and highly valued was all a lie. They were good foils to each other; Zack maintained his honor and integrity despite these revelations, while Sephiroth went completely mad. But hey, wouldn't Kefka be the most evil one? :)

1) Long story short, he was the best of SOLDIER and a hero to everyone including Zack and Cloud. Found out that he was a monster during a mission in Nibelheim (Cloud's hometown), turned emo, killed everyone and started hating the world.

I know the game is focused on Zack, but I love how they fleshed out Sephiroth a bit too. As popular as he was because of the original game, he didn't have quite enough backstory.
Seeing him in this game makes him seem less demi-godlike and more human. I like that in a villain.
Although the cutscene where he's using a cell phone was...kinda surreal, lol.

I never really saw Sephiroth as the bad guy when I first played FF7. It's only when he locks himself in that mansion and finds out that his mother is Jenova that he becomes insane. The majority of the reason why he is evil is more to do with Jenova's control than just being evil in general.
P.S. Curious question for any FF7 buffs but does Sephiroth know that his mother is Lucrecia? I can't remember, but I think he finds out after the lifestream incident.
@leonnasagawa I don't know for sure but I don't think he knows about Lucrecia. He probably knows Jenova isn't his actual biological mother but chances are he just doesn't care for who his "Real" mother is now.

@YOURsexDOCTOR dats cuz at first he misunderstood that he is the last cetra from what he learned and he decided to take revenge on the humans for not helping the cetra at the time of disaster leading the extinction of the race. but then he discovers from the lifestream that that wasnt the case. but since he had gone mad and powerhungry, he starts to develop a god complex and so becoms evil.
I really hate playing this part of the game. those copies are freakin annoying!! I hug the wall to avoid combat, but i still need to fight in the mini game.

@Reddasx It was because he found out he was part of the Jenova experiment that Shinra never told him about. He was very angry with Shira and feel betrayed. He also initially misunderstood that Jenova was a Cetra (a special kind of ancient civilisation) that was betrayed by the humans and extinct. Believing he was the last Cetra, he despise humans and blamed them for Cetra extintion. He did however found out that Jenova was an alien but his goals did not change in the game.

Lucrecia isn't the pink haired one, she has brown hair and for some reason looks kinda like Yuna from FF10. She appears in Dirge of Cerberus as well.

what most people dont realize is that sure sephiroth may go insane later in the game but he was not the one who killed aeris or aerith. most people think he did but if they played the game and actually remembered a text in the game. it was jenova who killed aerith while in sephiroths form.

very very true! Sephiroth, after falling into the Lifestream after being wounded within the Nibelheim Reactor, used the lifestream to go to the Northern Crater, and there was where he stayed until being given the Black Materia by Cloud. Proved that Sephiroth's will was so strong that even Jenova succumbed to his will, and she turned into him, and that was who you fought throughout the game of FF7 til the very end. ^_^

It truly is sad, even worse than the whole Anakin Skywalker comparison. Sephy was totally pure hearted and NOT a whiny bitch, he was an all around nice guy. How someone this pure of heart became the most evil bastard in video game history is BEYOND me, but I still love his evil side :) badass both ways

@falcone4life Imagine idolizing the company enough to fight and kill for it. Being a soldier, you have to question whether or not you're fighting for the right cause. Take Zack and Sephiroth. They both wanted to do good, but they both found out the institution they believed in and highly valued was all a lie. They were good foils to each other; Zack maintained his honor and integrity despite these revelations, while Sephiroth went completely mad. But hey, wouldn't Kefka be the most evil one? :)

1) Long story short, he was the best of SOLDIER and a hero to everyone including Zack and Cloud. Found out that he was a monster during a mission in Nibelheim (Cloud's hometown), turned emo, killed everyone and started hating the world.

I know the game is focused on Zack, but I love how they fleshed out Sephiroth a bit too. As popular as he was because of the original game, he didn't have quite enough backstory.
Seeing him in this game makes him seem less demi-godlike and more human. I like that in a villain.
Although the cutscene where he's using a cell phone was...kinda surreal, lol.

I never really saw Sephiroth as the bad guy when I first played FF7. It's only when he locks himself in that mansion and finds out that his mother is Jenova that he becomes insane. The majority of the reason why he is evil is more to do with Jenova's control than just being evil in general.
P.S. Curious question for any FF7 buffs but does Sephiroth know that his mother is Lucrecia? I can't remember, but I think he finds out after the lifestream incident.

@leonnasagawa I don't know for sure but I don't think he knows about Lucrecia. He probably knows Jenova isn't his actual biological mother but chances are he just doesn't care for who his "Real" mother is now.

@YOURsexDOCTOR dats cuz at first he misunderstood that he is the last cetra from what he learned and he decided to take revenge on the humans for not helping the cetra at the time of disaster leading the extinction of the race. but then he discovers from the lifestream that that wasnt the case. but since he had gone mad and powerhungry, he starts to develop a god complex and so becoms evil.

Sephiroth loses his mind when he realizes he's not just a gifted, genetically-enhanced powerful fighter, but the result of countless horrible experiments with even worse purposes. Upon learning this he decides to, well, conquer the galaxy.
