I remember seeing this on Central TV years ago in the 80s. Brilliant! First heard it tthough on James Stannage's radio show on Signal Radio. A classic for sure!
Thank you so very much for uploading this cartoon! I remember it from when I was a kid and Ive always been a massive Jasper Carrott fan. It's a shame it's never been put on a dvd somewhere as a special feature or an easter egg. Thank you again`
Hi everyone, thank you all very much for all your comments. I 've been travelling, ( I won't say were), for some time, so, somewhat out of touch, anyway, I am really pleased you have all enjoyed this classic rarity! XXX
Funny, i must have heard a different recording on the radio years ago; it's essentially the same, but i remember it ending with one of the coppers saying "...oh, no, you don't want a twelve-bore for that. What you want is..."
brilliant reminder of great british humour from a very funny comedian , sadly no longer seen in this style on our television . brings back many memories of Jasper's wonderful wit.
awsome!!!! went to see this guy live in 1979, 1 guy came in about 15 mins after he had started and jasper just looked at his watch and said " sorry mate did'nt realise i began early" then promptly started his show from the beginning again!!!!!! the poor guy could'nt hear a thing due to the uproar!!! cracking upload :-)
great seeing this again. used to have it on a vhs tape and would watch it all the time with my mates in the 80's. would love to see the driving lesson animation too if anyone has it.
Brilliant!!! Thanks for putting this on. I remember going to see JC in Bristol around 1983/4 (I was 16) and he started the 2nd half of the show by showing this cartoon. Everyone knew it basically word for word and were in hysterics. That show was probably the funnest thing I have ever seen live. I was on the floor in fits! Carrott from that era was untouchable ..... Biffer the labrador anyone?
Great stuff. I'm certain there was also an animation to go with the 'driving lesson' routine from 'Beat The Carrott', and that it was shown on Saturday Live in the mid '80s. After it had finished, Ben Elton (the compare of the programme) made some typically right-on put-down remark about it... Whose material has stood the test of time? Not Elton's, for sure...
thanks for this!! I remember seeing this on TV, whenever it was - was in black & white, so must have been a century or so ago! thanks for giving me the chance to enjoy it again
Years ago I was talking to a policeman (during the miner's strike it was) and we were talking about Jasper. I said "His stories are good, but a bit silly sometimes" He said "have you heard the mole story" I said that I had. "can you remember that bit where he says there was this blue flashing light" I said yes, he then looked very sheepish and said "that was me" It is exagerated, but actually true.
thank you so much for posting this, been looking for ages as was very young when I saw it on bbc 2 I think years and years ago I thought I was going mental. A really BIG thank you again
Thank you everyone for your kind comments, they are very much appreciated - but the important thing is that we all share and love this absolute classic humour.
@palannabb I'd forgotten how funny this is. I remember him doing iton stage, bouncing around pretending to shoot the 12-bore. We were in stitches as I've just been listening to it again. Well done!
Superb!!! This is Jasper at his brilliant best!!! Why does he waste his time doing the dreadful Golden Balls these days - it doesn't demonstrate the talent he is clearly capable of.

They should have done the same with Billy Connollys Crucifiction routine.
That would have worked well in animation.
