  • Oh I coulnt even watch the whole thing.......are there any long term side effects? I am sure this was very informative.

  • wow i have to say, watching this made me very uncomfortable ... i love the neutral tone with which you are describing it.

actually what you should be saying is "holy shit! look at what they doing to my eye. Its fucking amazing!"

    anyway. thanks for posting this.

  • not painful, but definitely the absolutely most uncomfortable experience of my life

  • @DrGFS how did you manage to keep your eye still??

  • @Justdontaskmewhat I think the sedatives helped but there was a dressing that went onto the eye that helped keep everything in place.

  • Aww yuck!!!

  • I did this surgery for 10 days ago on my left eye I had -16.1

I cant say that I see better than i used to see with my hard contact lenses... so i am not that happy ... its ok that i dont need to use lenses but i would be happy if i could see better.

  • people think about this. Does it really seem like a good idea to do this to a healthy eye? Please. What happens in 10 years? who will pay to fix this down the road. Dont trust these unethical hacks with your eyes. They do it for profit. Nothing more. Long term side effects are not know. Why take this risk with something as important as your eyes? Vanity.

  • @EliteDefenseInc Whilst I respect your right to your own thoughts but you also have to respect my own choices as well.

Having marked allergies and not being able to wear contacts anymore, plus the joy of scrabbling round for my glasses every morning this was the perfect solution for me.

I understood the consent and complications. It is not fair to pull out the vanity card not knowing the circumstances that lead to the operation.

  • @DrGFS so you would take this risk with your eye for what then? Glasses work. They are safe. They can be changed when you eyes change. It just seems like an unnecessary risk. What happens in 10 years? I am very leery on trusting what the guy who selling this says. How many doctors have actually gotten this done? Probably none.

  • @EliteDefenseInc Well because in my line of work glasses were not possible due to the conditions I worked in. My high script also means that with glasses my field of vision was very limited and the actual glasses were very heavy.

Also with my script being very high with astigmatism I was not a candidate for lasik.

With regards to the risk, yes I know this is a new technology however this is simply a variation of the lenses that are used to treat cataracts.

How many doctors? >200 when I got mine.

  • lol at 3:51 looks like a face where the blood is

  • I had this same procedure performed December of 2008, and have never regretted it. As a matter of fact, to prepare myself for the procedure, I watched this same video multiple times. The most amazing moment was when the Visian lens unfurled and the halo of light above me came into sharp focus. I did not have any sedation or painkillers other than the drop used in my eye.

Better living through science, eh? I've never had a moment's regret!

  • @Damencia

Just wanted to share you with how thrilled I am that you found the video helpful.

I have now had my contact for around 3 years and absolutely love them.

To be able to wake up in the morning and see has been life changing to say the least.

I hope you get as much benefit from your lenses as I have.

    Best Regards

    Dr George

  • Awesome and i lov ur voice

  • @BABElicious1123 y do yu use qs for gs or gs in qs and put , at the end of a sentance?

  • @BABElicious1123 why do u say your g's in q's..

  • is that a real eye?

  • @alyanhesz

Sure is! That's my eye :)

    Dr George

  • Am I the only one who thinks this might HURT!

  • @pickleman1224

I had pain medicine on board so no there was no pain at all!

Weird sensation but very cool getting it done.

    Dr George

  • This is the worst idea in history...I mean what if your prescription changes. Then you have to exstract the thing and go through this all over again.Getting it in is easy with injection, but exstraction what do you cleave the whole top of the eye off to get it out?

  • @Lavere2009

Part of the criteria of getting this operation is that you need to have had a stable script for 2 years.

I went into this fully understanding that in the future I am likely to develop the need for reading glasses and if this is the case, and I need a lens change both my natural lens and the injected lens can be removed before the new lens is placed.

  • I'm getting this surgery on the 8th of December. I have had glasses/contacts my whole life, and I really hope that this surgery allows me to get rid of those. I was told this was a $10,000 surgery. Good thing I'm in the Army and they are paying for all of it.

  • Comment removed

  • U are brave...

    ... I think that's the word.

    I'm scared of needles/injections ;o

  • very interesting..your eye has eyes at 4:37 lol

  • I had the same orcedure done earlier this year. Didn't feel any pain whatsoever.

  • Towards the very end, it seemed like the doctor injected more air bubbles? That was weird. Could you explain that last part?

    Thanks.

  • @huyked

I think the air bubbles were in the protective gel that was injected.

The good thing is that air is absorbed over the next 1-2 days.

Did not have any bubbles in front of my eyes when I removed my patch.

  • How much do ICL costs?

  • Bro, ur eye is bleeding.

  • did you not see all of the video?? he didn't bleed after wards, bleeding is ok, common and natural when under the knife

  • I am thinking about having this done but can I still do highly physical sports like boxing and judo or will that be a no no?

  • you can do all of that, as long as your eyes doesn't get hurt, the contact is under the eye lens, so its practicaly like new vision

  • Is this better than lasik? It Seems much more invasive, but does anyone know if the 2 operations are better than the other?

  • @crispindogs4

The way my doctor explained is that this operation is an additive proceedure. I do not loose any of my cornea at all so if it goes wrong they just remove the lens.

With Lasik they shave away the cornea so if there is a mistake there is no way to regrow that lost cornea.

  • please explain differences (pros/cons) between this procedure and lasik?

  • dear sweet jesus your are freggin crazy to do this.

  • holy crap...

  • what about all those airbubbles?? they aren't still in your eye, are they??

  • The eye will absorb all those little air bubbles over the first several hours. There's no need to remove all of them. You'll just end up creating more corneal swelling trying to remove them all.

  • OMFG

  • Im guessing they removed all those air bubbles after the video ended??

  • You're nuts! Great vid, though...

  • its bleeding!!

  • whiile operating does the patient really seeinng the operation its kinda hurt

  • yuck! yuck yuck! err!

  • Did it... hurt?

Im scared of injections.... like actually terrified.. ]=

  • Hey there Vic,

The good thing is that the operation is 100% reversible.

There is no tissue of the eye lost and if you wish to hav them removed it's another operation to take them out. I'm pretty sure it's a bigger operation but no bigger then cateract surgery.

Post op the pain was pretty good, the main thing for me was nausea from having one eye corrected and the other not.

To be honest I don't recall much of the operation. Midaz is great like that! Cost? 4.5K/eye

    Worth it? 100% Yes

  • Why did you only get one eye corrected? Did you get the other one done later or something?

  • @dodgydogman

Yes I had the second eye done two weeks after the first eye.

Man that was a hard fortnight as I was not able to wear glasses :)

  • George its Vic..is this reversible ie in case the contact gets infected? Hows the pain post-op? How much do you recall? Cost? Great commentary btw

  • i recently got told i have an eye infection, probably from wearing my contact lenses. i have ben told to wear glasses until i book an appointment with my doctor. sucks bigtime :(

  • As soon I saw the scalpel in the eye, my eyes started to hurt. I only saw about five minutes of the video.

  • is this laser eye surgery??

  • No, did you see a laser in any part of the video?

  • looks painful. lol but awesome XD

  • how did your eye get that dyalated

  • they put drops in your eye to dilate the pupil that much

  • Those air bubbles were looking at me

  • wow...can you feel that in your eye? do they tend to get dry faster? Does this last for life? And is their any slight risk of blindness like with laser eye surgery? How much is this procedure? Sorry for the massive amount of questions. I'm a contact wearer..and i have been considering Laser eye surgery..until i saw this..first time i herd about it

  • what about the bubbles in the eye.

  • Wow! I had this done by Dr Versace a month ago and had no idea what the procedure looked like- amazing.... I was awake too- and I didnt remember a whole lot... so thank you so much or posting this! Im getting my other eye done in October sometime.

How long ago did you have this done? Any word of advice? On what to expect etc? Any rpoblems or things to look out for? Other than dryness of the eyes... grr

  • WHOA! that was awesome!

    Technology is GREAT. Love it.

What color is your eye? It looks yellow.

    Thnx for the upload!

  • how can you be awake while they was doing this??

  • Thanks for posting this. Now I have a video to show friends and family about my procedure. I got these a year ago and it's probably up there with going to college as good life decisions go.

I'm surprised some posters rule it out based on a couple minutes of queasiness. Seems way safer than the thousands of times I put contacts in my eyes after they could be exposed to who knows what in the environment.

  • this phakic intraocular lens can produces glaucoma and cataract. The artisan lens its a best choice.

  • In the USA, the glaucoma issue is resolved by the FDA requirement for iridotomy which ensures the proper flow of aqueous humor. There is a small risk (less than 1%)of cataract formation if the implanted lens touches the natural lens during insertion or if the chamber is not of adequate depth but we have rigorous testing procedures required to lessen that chance.

This is a safe procedure. If it were not, I wouldn't have had it performed on my eyes two years ago.

  • Some people say that the artisan lens can increase the risk of corneal cell loss...

I agree with Loki431, and thus chose to go with this lens.

  • how long do they last and is 6000 us dollars cheaper than laser eye surgery

  • I was a little squemish watching lasik on tv, but this is something else :s

  • I understand the person that said they could only watch 3 minutes. I was cringing and WTFing several times! It is not for me.....I will stick with my external lenses!

  • Even a simple routine procedure such as this has the risk of complications, and I'd rather wear glasses the rest of my life than take that risk.

  • it is interesting but...kinda scary!!

  • I had this procedure done just over 2 weeks ago and love it. The cost in US dollars was $3100 per eye, so it was $6000 total, but I've always wanted perfect eyesight. The procedure was painless, but I am experiencing some side effects like itching and discomfort which should go away with time. My eyesight was 20/360 before I had it done, now it's 20/40 on my left eye and 20/20 on my right. They said that that will even improve over time. I think I made the right decision. I love it.

  • 20/360? what - is that? mine is -6.25...

Don't you need ICL replacements over time since eyeseight worsens over time?

  • -6.25 would be the strength of your lenses.

20/360 means that what a normal person can see at 360 feet, they would need to be a 20 feet to see it.

One of the criteria for the lenses is that your script has been stable for a long time.

As you get older it is normal to get long vision, and some people need to add reading glasses. This was all explained to be when I had the operation and I was happy to go ahead.

  • Are there some risks during the operation?

And what are the requirements to do it?

    Good video btw ^^

  • wow -6.25 mine is like -7 and im only 15 i hope ur vision doesnt get worse so u could have more choices for the eye surgeries like the lasik

  • wow!!! :D modern medicine is really amazing :D

  • Oh my god.

I wouldn't decide for anything like this...

It seems to be inpossible that you're not blind after that...

I could watch only 3 minutes.

    Uhhhh. ;x

  • OMG, WTF? this is absolutly atrocious to see!

  • Can you please tell me where this was done and what the price is for the procedure for both eyes in US dollars? Do you have a phone number where I can call for a consultation? Feel free to private me with this information. Thank you.

  • Interesting but scary at the same time. Thanks for posting!

  • is it painful at all??becoz they r like poking2 inside yr eye...

  • Do they do one eye at a time? So you can allow one to heal and then do the other? And you don't remember it, huh? Did you request a copy of the video?! I think it's awesome, and can't wait to have this procedure done. I want to see a video of mine! Will they think I'm mad if I ask?

  • I think I almost threw up..

    interesting though..

  • Nah I was on a bunch of meds and to be honest I dont remember feeling much of anything... The bright light was a little annoying on the second lens tho.

    Dr G

  • didnt that seem really strange with the feelings of people pushing and poaking your eye

and even seeing this going on ?
