I have been to Normandy to visit Omaha Beach and the cemetary's of the Soldiers, it was an very impressive sight. I want to go back there because its very good history and to pay my respect to all fallen Soldiers from the Allied but also for the Axis, because the soldiers of the Axis did there job as did the allied soldiers.

There were a total of 110 countries fought in the WW2 other than US, Canada, UK, Italy, Japan and Germany, sadly these countries are still hardly recognized for!

My grandfather fought in WW2. It's kind of sad cause he has dementia... so he does have a hard time remembering things. But sometimes he will sit there and repeat stories about the war. I might have to try to record him before he loses much more. He's nearing his 90's so....
I'll see if I can get him to talk to me a bit on camera. He's hard to understand sometimes. If he can't talk to me, I can always ask my grandmother. Sometimes my grandpa is in a good mood and sometimes not... so it's hard to tell if he will want to talk about stuff or not... He might spend the whole time talking about his gardens (that don't actually exist anymore ;))
Indeed... This video kinda made me sad and especially to think that not enough people care about this day anymore and dont remember it as well as they should. It is one of, if not the most iconic days in History and should be remembered always. RIP to all the brave soldiers who where killed fighting for what is known as freedom today.
Oh yeah i agree to that, because the army do a lot towards the veterans all year round, and also, there are rememberance services, but not enough young people take enough time to remember them.

millions of Japanese would of died if usa would not of invaded,(also Britian had navy and airplanes involved) its said that women jumped off cliffs so their men could fight without worrying about them at Battle of Okinawa the women even fought with spears although this was due more to fear of rape than anything so some historians suggest

Perhaps a better alternative would have been to blockade Japan & starve it into submission, I don't know, but what was done was done, and we swore to never use atomic weapons again, although it has come close to that during the Cold War with the USSR. If we had wanted to we could have nuked the Soviets after WWII when they didn't have the A-bomb, & then eastern Europe wouldn't have been subjected to Stalin's control, but we decided another war with a former ally would be no good.

There are some Japanese soldiers that have actually thanked the USA for dropping those 2 A-bombs that helped end the war quickly, becuase they knew that Tojo etc. would fight to the death and use japanese children & civilians in the process of defending the home islands.

It was the Japanese that raped and plundered Nanjing, China.
USA & Allies were going to invade japan, Japan was not going to surrender, even after the Soviet offensive in Manchuria in 1945. Losses in the invasion would have been at least ~3 or more million Japanese. So, we dropped the 2 A-bombs. Japanese killed at least 12-million Chinese, over 1-million Filipinos, Vietnamese, Burmese, etc.

In all these dedications, why isn't the idea raised that civilians were dying at a rate of 2/1 before including genocide figures? Were their sacrifices less? The blockade runners of the Dutch East Indies, Operation Pied Piper, etc?
How about the Germans and Japanese being tried (Nuremberg and Tokyo) yet Italy wasn't for using mustard gas on Ethiopia, China wasn't for raping Nanking and the US wasn't for Hiroshima/Nagaskai? Actions considered war crimes in 1899, 1907 & 1938. (Hague and Geneva)

My grandfather fought in WW2. It's kind of sad cause he has dementia... so he does have a hard time remembering things. But sometimes he will sit there and repeat stories about the war. I might have to try to record him before he loses much more. He's nearing his 90's so....

I'll see if I can get him to talk to me a bit on camera. He's hard to understand sometimes. If he can't talk to me, I can always ask my grandmother. Sometimes my grandpa is in a good mood and sometimes not... so it's hard to tell if he will want to talk about stuff or not... He might spend the whole time talking about his gardens (that don't actually exist anymore ;))

Indeed... This video kinda made me sad and especially to think that not enough people care about this day anymore and dont remember it as well as they should. It is one of, if not the most iconic days in History and should be remembered always. RIP to all the brave soldiers who where killed fighting for what is known as freedom today.

Oh yeah i agree to that, because the army do a lot towards the veterans all year round, and also, there are rememberance services, but not enough young people take enough time to remember them.
