  • put me in coach=put me in charge?

  • I'll never buy a sharpie product.

  • Where ever theres love there's hate. The stuff I wanna say is unnecessary and I don't want to get yelled at by a person that joined YouTube to post "smart" comments to just be mean. So I'm just gonna try to be nice. Stop the hate start the love.

  • You people don't really get the point. They are PROTESTING against PROTESTING. Sharpie is trying to be ironic here.

  • whats the song called??

  • To everyone confused about the hate, please pause on 0:11

  • Comment removed

  • Why all the hate?

  • @CrazyforKataang because sharpie is stupid, at 0:13 they say stop protesting and the people are protesting, and protesting is about expressing your feelings and yourself

  • @roxyhotty556

don't forget a team of writers said that, not the whole of sharpie. DUH.

  • I don't get it... Why is everybody boycotting sharpie? Is it because they said stop protesting ... ?

  • the comments THIS IS MADDNNNEEES

  • lmfao stop protesting haha

  • @Karen42308 Yea, stop protesting, bend over and all is fine! :D

  • @MartinArku because it says stop protesting now... but if you mix it up it says stop protesting nwo.. stop protesting new world order.. it happens so fast u dont see it but ur subconscious does

  • I know I'll never buy another Sharpie product after seeing such bullshit.

    Boycott Sharpie.

  • U guys r pretty stupid. The "protesting" part is an example of "the people's" self expression. You're talking to an artist and this is just stupid.

  • @FineMays I'm an artist too, and this commercial is laden with subliminal imagery. LADEN. If you don't see it, I don't know how you can be an artist. Seriously.

  • @newton2013 what i see is something abstract you don't. that's just life.

  • @FineMays please tell me what they are expressing

  • @jorn1233 freedom roflmao

  • im freaking obsessed with this.:)<3

  • stopprotesting.blogspot.com/2011/11/sharpie-ads-subliminally-telling-us-to.html

  • YouTube is a corporation. They featured sharpie on their entire page for a day. Boycott them too.............

And boycott your computer's maker by boycotting your computer.

    And boycott your clothes.

    AND AND AND

OR...find something REAL to complain about. Or take your opinion to a soup kitchen. They need you there more.

I'm pro 99 percent, but I am not anti 1 percent. I'm 100 percent anti ugly hearts. Does everything you do, come from GOOD out of your heart? If not. ReThink,

  • @SweetOfMyHeart You are also insane :D of course you boycott them. The 1% we speak of is the enemy not all capitalist just the corrupt ones running our government.

  • @ThegnThrand I saw this commercial quiet a while back ago, and even longer did it take to make, produce, and air. Point? They made this before the current protesting. I live on the planet of reality, and not hype.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you all know that people against protesting, think protesters are big babies. I'm not speaking of myself, I don't mind peaceful protesting. That's what this commercial is about. I don't think Sharpie was saying protesting was evil. Can you all think of the EVIL protestors that they might be speaking to? Westboro Baptists? Anyone else you can think of? It's strange to me how so many people can be hateful in the face of peace.

  • @SweetOfMyHeart It says stop protesting their is only one world wide protest going on atm what planet are you living on???

  • Stop protesting? What's that all about?!

  • Comment removed

  • Sharpie should be praising the protesters for their fourth quarter figures not encouraging them to stop

  • Woah...

    at :11 ...woah..

  • Oh Hellll naw

  • PROTEST SHARPIE BY BOYCOTTING!!

  • @setfreejr

    (yawn . . . )

  • @setfreejr

    Relax.

  • sharpie just stuck its dick in my brain..

  • @setfreejr

    (yawn . . . )

  • 12oz sent me here, im glad I always found or ''kept and forgot'' sharpies from school.

  • Its a good thing I only steal sharpies when needed. otherwise i might be offended

  • Sharpie was trying to be ironic. They're protestors protesting to stop protesting.

Irony is hip. They're trying to be hip. They probably just didn't think it through.

  • I don't agree that we should stop protesting, but I do not believe that sign contradicted Sharpie's message of "expressing yourself." I mean that individual was expressing themselves in the fact they are anti-protesting. Just because someone's feelings and expression do not coincide with the public opinions - does not mean it is not valid. People think "expressing yourself" means liberal views, that is not always the case. Like I said, I am pro-protesting. These comments do not make sense.

  • we*should* stop buying sharpie products and start exposing these coorparations that dont want us to express our freedom.

  • lets hit'em where it hurts. brothers and sisters we shoild

  • Those hippies used hippie font to send an unclear message! Silly hippies!

  • Dont listen to sharpie.. keep up the protests! Their corporate face is revealed.

  • Fuck you, sharpie.

  • stop protesting, lol, yeah right, yr corporate marketing people are really idiots...lhahah

  • Ironic how it's a commercial about expression and yet they say stop protesting..

Now I'm going to write Sharpie a letter and tell them how offended I am...with a sharpie

  • for the people that didnt catch it, pause it at 12 seconds where they hold up the 3 signs (YES STOP PROTESTING NOW)

  • This was Up Loaded before the Occupy protests, but still, we were inspired to protest because of the spark and fire going on over seas in the form of protesting.

  • Nope, Chuck Testa.

  • Fuck you sharpie, eat dick and die.

  • Sorry but the first protest for OWS was Sep 17th and the upload date for this was july 18th. as much as the company Newell Rubbermaid is one of the many things wrong with America(CO that owns sharpie) its not a poke at OWS. I failed to see this as well..Please don't use this commercial as ammunition..

  • Really Sharpie? This is how you support free expression, by advertising against them?

  • Newell Rubbermaid Office Products

    Attn. Consumer Affairs

    2707 Butterfield Road

    Oak Brook, Il 60523

    Phone: (800) 346-3278

    Fax: (866) 666-8735

  • So this is what will kill the "sharpie in pooper" requests.

  • Hey, Sharpie! You just gave a HUGE number of people reasons to NOT buy your products. That certainly includes me.

  • First commercial I've ever seen that has made me wholeheartedly committed to never buying their product again. I would go out of my way to make sure anyone else doesn't either.

  • Subliminal Message at 0:12

  • Stop advertising! NOW

  • Wow, there is nothing subliminal about this... pretty obvious actually.

    Boycott Sharpie!

  • comercial about self expression

there be no purpose . eg. stop protesting.

damn this was smartly put together

    glad i never watch tv

  • @setfreejr

    Whatevah, Skippy.

  • lol stop protesting

  • never buying a Sharpie again.

  • White guy to the left holds up sign says YES the retards behind him hold up banner says STOP PROTESTING and black guy to the right his sign says NOW.

  • Sharpies are FLAMMABLE !

  • Shame on you Sharpie! *favorite pen wants to take away my rights*

  • Thank you Sharpie! I will Stop Protesting ! Why would I make big signs and take gear gas to my eyes and rubber bullets in my face ? Gosh with expression, with real freedom of expression using Sharpies I can serve the Federal Reserve. In fact I think for Halloween I'll be a prostitute with her head as the portrait in a giant 100$ bill betting it in the ass with a wonder full giant Sharpie pen !

  • Wow sharpie way to expose yourself as a bunch of facist tools, the masses have woken up and i will not buy your crap

  • "Stop protesting", just as he says "no purpose". I'm usually a skeptic when it comes to these things, but... The power of subliminal messages is bigger than most think.

  • So advertising hacks are once again putting in subliminal messages. Sharpie sucks. Try posting a comment on their youtube page criticizing the commercial. Its full of people posting they love Sharpie.

  • INSERT – protesters with signs -- ‘Stop protesting!’ & ‘Now!’

    Voice (off) – “No purpose!”

Very subliminal, indeed...in case you didn’t know: you screw us - we multiply...

  • "Stop protesting"? Why's that' Sharpie?

  • @NirvanasKC They Live is so awesome.

  • @yaherdd

Oh, yes . . . Satan existing has as much possibility as this commercial being subliminal.

  • Boycott sharpie, keep protesting!

  • @Passskal

    why?

  • Control Mental

  • Keep protesting.

  • NICE TRY SHARPIE, WE ARE AWAKE AND STARING YOU STRAIGHT IN THE FACE!!!

  • @NirvanasKC

Of course, you miss the peace symbol in the "O" so perhaps you should simmah down a bit, not to mention this commercial was posted JULY 18, 2011, a full TWO FRIGGIN' MONTHS before the Occupy Wall Streeters started waging their campaign.

  • Never buying sharpies again

  • Comment removed

  • Congratulations, Sharpie.

You misinterpreted pseudo-science Psychology and effectively ended the protest for equality of opportunity with a commercial about pens that no will even bother to see. You certainly had your bacon in the pan before, but now after influencing people to quit protesting you're safe from persecution.

Or, you just made a really awful commercial. About pens. You failed to market the most basic writing implement to me. How does one do that?

  • Sharpie says stop protesting, go back to sleep, you are slaves.

  • At 11 seconds a girl holds up a poster saying stop protesting. Clearly using subliminal messaging.

  • Hey guys, stop protesting

  • the girl holding the peace sign doesn't seem so peaceful.

  • Stop protesting? As in, Occupy Wall Street?

I'm never buying another sharpie as long as I live.

You, SharpieUS, can hang from the scaffolds they'll be making for you.

  • Also curious why they show an empty billboard and relate that to lack of self expression? Corporate Ads are not self expression- but they want your self to relate to them. I see what you did there Sharpie.

  • Please, if you haven't already, begin to educate yourselves on the many devices of mind/population control that are inflicted on us daily. Subliminal messaging is just one of the tools that are used. Everyone needs to wake up to what our true reality is.

  • @TawnaTV SUBLIMINAL IS HYPE!!! Look into the false aspect of each and every case you think has subliminal, before deciding! snopes is a great place to start.

  • Protesters holding up a sign that says "stop protesting"? That's odd, wouldn't you say?

  • i dont think this commercial would actually make someone stop protesting, in fact i think it does the exact opposite. Also the girl at 00:18 represents an issue that no one here has even touched on in this discussion yet....

  • @segatron What you got at 0:18? Children stepping up to the adult world- trying to fit into adult roles- with a touch of make-believe (princess headgear). Makes the entire message- Yes Stop protesting Now you dumb kids- you are trying to fit into an adult role but you are not one- it is make believe. That's what I see.

  • @segatron The girl is playing make believe, just like every little girl everywhere has always done.

"Uploaded by SharpieUS on Jul 18, 2011"

Tell me then, when did the protests begin...oh, September 2011?

    Well, isn't that weird.

STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU HEAR JUST BECAUSE IT SOUNDS GOOD.

my blog on this subject: stopprotesting.blogspot.com/2011/11/sharpie-ads-subliminally-telling-us-to.html

Read it, and then start research to figure out if you really agree or disagree.

  • Kudos to Sharpie for co-opting your rage and selling it back to you at cost. Brilliant!

  • I'm actually IN this ad, at 0:05 holding up the blank placard in the football stadium, and then again at 0:17 - "Put Me In Coach".

It was shot at the Sydney Football Stadium last year. I'm here to tell you that it was put together by a bunch of effervescent bright-young-things whose thoughts were furthest away from mind control of the masses.

The 'Stop Protesting' bit was supposed to be pure irony - i.e. protesting against protesting. A joke. Nothing more.

  • @EonPeon here come the eonpeon to save the day for this shitty ad. job well done. now go find some other crap to minimize

  • @EonPeon you sure? your statement could mean alot

  • @EonPeon the person holding the placard is a girl while holding the put me in coach is a guy

  • @jhakhohbhy No, it's definitely me! I can attest that this ad was shot in April 2010 - long before the OWS protests.

  • @jhakhohbhy no its the same guy actually

  • @segatron oh yeah I noticed thanks

  • @EonPeon yeah Im sure ad companies spend tons of money to make Jokes in political times of turmoil just so people keep their priorities straight and buy markers.....

  • @EonPeon Y'all please listen to Eon. This commercial was posted to Facebook last year. Google "Sharpie stop protesting" and it's at or near the top. Nothing to do with ows.

  • Sharpies suck anyway. Get KRINK markers. They are the best ever.

  • TPTB are obviously worried. Keep Occupying!

  • and this will go down in advertising history among the WORST AD MISTAKES EVER.

i swear, some day kids in design school will study this as an example of what not to do.

  • @skeet238 It is *possible* since the ad was shot in 2010 (in Australia), that it was just a tongue-in-cheek statement that was poorly thought out...however, they also might have been making a statement about the Tea Party protests (and how people had actually been protesting THOSE protests). Or it could be completely diabolical. One never knows, but all we can do is be aware, and keep our own heads about us!

  • Yes Stop Buying Sharpie Now.Peace!

  • They want to sell markers yet the sign at 0:11 says 'stop protesting'.

  • regardless of the timing this is still blatant subliminal messaging

  • Aww man now I cant buy sharpies anymore because I saw this video

  • well - turns out i will NEVER EVER buy one on these pens if i can avoid it.

  • What would the world be like without self-expression? We wouldn't be able to tell you to shove it where the sun don't shine for putting a "Stop Protesting" sign in your commercial.

  • I saw several sharpie blister paks at the store today that were ripped open lying on the shelf, bet those are gonna sell well...lol

  • Thumbs up if Alex Jones brought you here

  • Bullshit corporate bastards .. In case you missed it, they embedded a "Stop protesting" message in their ad.

  • Comment removed

  • Very interesting. And when the "Stop Protesting" sign is shown the audio simultaneously says ".....There'd be no purpose..." The negative reinforcement to protesting is quite clear here.

  • Sorry Sharpie, I will now but other markers.

  • This commercial is at least a year old. Calm down, tinfoil hat brigade.

  • @anansi123 Look at the date, dude. Can you do simple math?

  • @newguyhi Look at Google search, troll. Can you find this video posted to Facebook in 2010?
