  • haha youre so cool! awesome toads <3

  • Ooops. Hi Peter, since the Spring and until quite recently I've heard peeping noises from the woods. Obviously from many individuals. I've never seen the culprit but I'm guessing it's a frog. Do you have any idea what species? 100% sure it's not birds, or a mammal. Do toads 'peep'? All the best.

  • Spring Peepers are usually around all mating season, they're quite loud when they're singing so you may be hearing them. Toads also chirp for mating, you can surely look up the sounds of toad mating calls on YouTube.

  • yes

  • @astronomerroyal Most likely Spring Peepers. They're about the size of a thumbnail. Very cute. They make little "screaming" noises like "weep! weep! weep!" and can be heard from almost a mile away. I caught a tiny male once (the size of my pinkie nail) and kept him in a little habitat inside my house, and I awoke to the loudest mating call ever. Apparently humans don't scare them!

  • Hi Peter,

  • FIRST! also cool
