btw, Im just doing a sitar/guitar song (partialy inspired by this one) and even tho it has the different chord progression, it allways makes me do a remake of this one..
hmmmm... it sounds like sitar to me.. eq-ed to death.. maby pitched.. I dont have the song right now in the studio so I can't really tell.. it does sound like they tuned it an octave up or so.. sitar doesnt have that much sustain on higher notes..
One of the only pieces I can listen to several times in a row. Since I first heard it, it has grown to be my favorite rendition of the song. Absolutely, gut-wrenchingly, head-bangingly, heart-wringingly wonderful!
They need to take this around the world. Maybe with a full orchestra! Come to Australia! Like what they did with the Lord of the Rings music. Howard Shore came to Sydney and directed the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Set to images projected above the orchestra. I reckon that it'd also work with BSG.
Damn, I wish I could have been there. I just wish they used the version of the song on the soundtrack that they used in Crossroads Pt.2. I like how it ended better edited into the show, when the camera zooms out of the galaxy, then back down to earth.
Still, Heeding the Call and AATW make for one hell of a concert. Best show on TV boasting the best music on TV. Good show.
Wow, thanks for uploading! I was there, too, a bit behind from where it looks like you were. It was an awesome show and a perfect venue because the Roxy's sound system is so spectacular!

If you experience something while listening to it, does that make you a Cylon of some kind ???

See what happens when you play the clip backwards......: -)
I hear sitar music - not that I listen to it overmuch - & I think of this song.
There's a Hardee's commercial with a hot - looking food critic that uses sitar music.

The sitar was taken to China to become the San - Hsien, if I remember correctly, although the sitar has a richer sound.
The San - Hsien sounds a trifle high - pitched & " whiney ". ;-)

The sitar can do a greater, richer, range of notes, the san - hsien ( Japanese Samisen ) sounds a bit twangier.

this should actually be labeled "heeding the call/all along the watchtower" as both songs are preformed on this video

I love how they had that slow build before the crowd knew what song it was. And once they did you heard them yell. :-)
Awesome.
