@enJoysVaniLLaCoKe well you are missing a real part of the world history, is one of the best series ever made. Is so inspiring since the beginning to the end, you should try it. It's awsome.... I don't have enough words to describe it....
@TheAlexander8898 I've come to the conclusion that it's Gory. The song itself is a parody of Glory Glory Hellelujah so it makes sence for the word Glory to be replaced with Gory for comic effect.
I was at Benning and I had a class to make at Ft Huachuca, the Army would not let me take the time to go airborne, its one of the great regrets of my life. I have two static line jumps but I missed out on Benning. I did go thru the air assalt course at 2nd Div in Korea but its not the same thing. It's 35 years later and I am still unsatisfied.
ok why are we fighing over who fought what and stuff like that? it was a unified effort that would would have failed if they had not worked together... as for the band for brothers thing i own the series and to me it seems to be the most accurate thing out there. the common yet little know fact is we are never gunna know exactly what happened every second of the war because it was chaotic (thats what war is like) and the survivors ar dying of old age. world war 2 defined us as a nation!
@TheFreeman039 Sadly Winters did not die quick. Been sick for a few years, but i'm sure his family was blessed and enjoyed the time they got to spend with him.
@TheFreeman039 He had been suffering for a long time, the family notified the world after his service. There is still effort in Congresss to upgrade his Distinguished Service Cross to the Medal of Honor. It may happen. I hope it does he deserves it.
@Mrdwd007 My grandfather, George F. Schneider (120th Reg. 30th Infantry Division), is the president of the Battle of the Bulge group in Pennsylvania and he met Dick Winters at one of their meetings. I'm not sure how well he knew him, but he hasn't even seen Band of Brothers. I should show it to him. It's my favorite mini series ever. Wow he's just about 87 now, I should get on that.
BOB was nice but some things weren't very realistic but that doesn't anything about this video though. in my opinion its one of the best summaries i've seen in my entire life. the video totally fit with the words from the airborn song. Nice job.
@kprice1403 its a serie u know. some things are real and such but let take the part with the massacre of the SS. they were with 2 Divisions there and a bunch of paratroopers just shoot them all off. They weren't allow to flee u know
@wayzey - It's strange, your mind plays tricks sometimes. You recall many things when a friend is hit, but it seems the blood stands out. It s horrible and it always seems there is so much of it.
At the first:" gory, gory what a hell of a way to die..." Lieutenant Meehan's plane went up in flames before crashing because of the engine that was hit.
It really shows what are in the lyrics more or less... like:"the days he lived, and loved, and laughed kept running through his mind..." is the part when Donald Malarkey was enjoying his time in England.
Everybody always love the 101st Airborne but a lot of people forget the 82nd Airborne I mean the 82nd was more experienced than the 101st. My Great, Great Uncle was in the 82nd during WWII in the mission to secure La Fiere in Normandy! The 82nd was just as important as 101st so I don't get why people always honor the 101st more than the 82nd!?
@TheAlexander8898 - luck of the draw - the 101 gained ever lasting fame for Bastogne. Both divisions deserve the praise of a grateful nation. They surely were our "Greatest Generation".
@Bobk857 My Great, Great Uncle was in the 82nd and fought on June 9 at La Fiere. It was a very important mission in Normandy but it is very unpopular. Those soldiers along with my Uncle ran into the face of German MG-42s! They saw hell but NO they have to give the 101st credit because they were already capturing Carentan. @TheAlexander8898@TheAlexander8898 I don't doubt your great uncle was incredibly valiant. You cheapen his courage and the sacrifice of all vetereans by whining about the fact that someone wrote a book about a different unit. Quite franbkly, you sound like a petulant, callow little brat when you do things like that. I agree, the two were both important missions; however, bemoaning that your uncle was not recognized in his very own book is extremely childish, and a dishonor to veterans
@easy506th150 I actually agree very much with your comment and now i feel really shitty. I just get mad when many people focus on one unit who made sacrifices and forget all the other units who just just as much sacrifices. I wasn't trying to diss Easy co.I just think that others should know about battles that are pretty barely known during ww2
@TheAlexander8898 I agree there, it is a problem. It's a similar thing with most people not knowing about the Alamo Scouts. It was the most succesful unit in the pacific war in terms of intelligence gathering and casualty rates, but very few people have ever heard of teh unit. I guess it's just a matter of what has a better theatrical effect
@easy506th150 actually until I read your comment about the Alamo Scouts I searched it up I found out how valiant they were. I just hate the fact that people just don't give a damn about these brave men.

Those cities are more popular because of their strategic value. Never heard of La Fiere, but it probably was important. Just not as strategicaly important.
@TheAlexander8898 yeah, thats a lot of men in WWII, and it'd be nice if we knew all their names, but it isn't possible, they picked one and it was the 101st, well guess what, when the army, after WWII, picked one division to stay an active parchute squad, all the 101st guys wanted it, well the 82nd, got it... I mean, I get what yr. saying, and god bless all those guys, but they gotta pick someone to "represent", it can't just be everyone who played a part, thats all. no offense. Thanks 2 urs.
People think The Pacific sucked because it came after Band of Brothers. I think The Pacific is better because it showed what some soldiers go through before, during, and after combat. It shows the emotions like it's real. Band of Brothers never came close to that. The Pacific war was the most bloodiest and deadliest war. Band of Brothers in the European war didn't come close to the pacific war. The Pacific is my favorite in opinion
@wayzey I know that average human has 5/6 L of Blood, however once upon a time a guy near to me was hit in his right leg and in a matter of seconds all around him the ground was soaked with blood. Luckly survived. Bye man ^__^
Love then :D good song and i sing that song every time i play Medal of Honor Airborne and Company of Heroes and the last Brothers in Arms THEM ALL! :D
I salute the men who sacrifeced their lives, their limbs, and their sanity for the sake of preserving freedom during the Second World War. Mike Rowe should do an episode on the subject, because being a soldier on the front lines of a war fits all the criteria of a dirty job: it's dirty, it's dangerous, and it's miserable to carry out. So don't call them a bunch of trigger-pulling jarheads, you owe them your freedom.
Good job on the vid! When I was a kid in the 70's a bunch of thought it was a good idea one halloween to do some window soaping. It was my bad luck when my term came to pick the house of a old Screaming Eagle. That guy guy saw me, ran me down, and dragged me home by the scruff to my old man(another story, hint; serious ass kicking) Lesson learned: Never fuck with a paratrooper whatever his age!
the paratroopers were a major part in some battles and invasions. The paratroopers are the bravest part of our Armed Forces in my opinion. Takes a lot of guts to jump out off a plane and slowly float onto the enemy. I know i couldnt do that. RIP airborne members that gave their lives. Your sacrifice wont be forgotten.
Ezek az Amerikaiak nagyon kemények nagyon elvannak a '"hőseikkel" szánalmas pedig az igazi hősök a Magyar 1. Huszár Hadosztály tagjai nem ezek a buzik.
paratrooper10 u are right buddy, but it didnt shown the personal feelings that much as the Pacific does...I dont know if you guys watch the Pacific but if u ask me it shows the feelings much more and better...all in one...you can say both mini-series are totally awesome but different.
@TheMightyMaxx how did it suck? it was very good in capturing the feeling of WWII, steven spielberg and tom hanks always work well together, two examples; band of brothers and the pacific
@paratrooper10 I just didn't feel drawn into it. I felt is was no more than just a movie, a better produced movie, but emotionally I just wasn't convinced
@TheMightyMaxx Hmmm I can't/Won't vote you down because you stated reason with out being a Jerkass about it. But I can't understand the not emotionally drawn into it. The Episode "Why We Fight" comes to mind.
@cika1234 I think perhaps there is a misunderstanding about my comment. I was referring to someone elses comment about Saving Private Ryan when I said that I was not drawn into it. Band of Brothers is definitely one of the best ever. "Bastogne" and "The Breaking Point" being two of my favorites.
@TheMightyMaxx okay sorry then....actually come to think of I always treated
Saving private Ryan as more of a very Well done action Flic It wasn't really all that emotionally gripping there were some moments but not enough not nearly enough
@cika1234 the song sends shivers down my spine, band of brothers is the best ever in my opinion im british but watching this makes me feel proud and makes me wish that i was american so that i could feel even more proud of these soldiers, this is a true story(band of brothers) and it makes me feel good inside to know that these men where there fighting for us in the second world war, and what these men whent through is very sad but they are the bravest people i can even think about!!
@JJFromCa dude it depends what view on the war u liked the most, i prefered the pacific theater more and the pacific capture real battles based on real soldiers, the shows were completly different. not only in settings but in the types of warfare, there was never a japanese soldier yelling out jibberish and charging u in band of brothers, nor will the soldiers of the pacific stumble over a concetration camp
@paratrooper10 the pacific wasn't nearly as good as band of brothers, check out generation kill if you like war flicks, its about the iraq war and i think its up to par with band of brothers
cool

@Anton08141996 i actually always wondered if that would happen
TheAlexander8898 6 months ago

@wayzey have you ever seen a wounded man? In a matter of seconds there is blood everywhere.

Great series great vid moving song, how can u even compare spr with band of brothers.
For all i know Saving Private Ryan is a fictional movie,
The soldiers tells in the end of band of brothers they co-operated with the instructers to give to most lifelike movie.

Yeah, but Band of Brothers was about the 101st Airborne Division. It fits.
AmicusPatris 1 year ago 8
@AmicusPatris Saving Pvt Ryan is about saving a 101st soldier

@AmicusPatris agreed this song does fit since they were an airborne unit

And they even sing these lyrics themselfs in one of the last episodes. Driving out into Bavaria you can hear them sing it in all the trucks.

@assassinater425 Minus the initial beach scene, pvt ryan wasn't that good. Actually it sucked, just my opinion
TheMightyMaxx 1 year ago 5
@TheMightyMaxx how did it suck? it was very good in capturing the feeling of WWII, steven spielberg and tom hanks always work well together, two examples; band of brothers and the pacific
paratrooper10 1 year ago 33
@paratrooper10 I just didn't feel drawn into it. I felt is was no more than just a movie, a better produced movie, but emotionally I just wasn't convinced

@TheMightyMaxx Hmmm I can't/Won't vote you down because you stated reason with out being a Jerkass about it. But I can't understand the not emotionally drawn into it. The Episode "Why We Fight" comes to mind.
cika1234 1 year ago
@cika1234 I think perhaps there is a misunderstanding about my comment. I was referring to someone elses comment about Saving Private Ryan when I said that I was not drawn into it. Band of Brothers is definitely one of the best ever. "Bastogne" and "The Breaking Point" being two of my favorites.
TheMightyMaxx 1 year ago 4
@TheMightyMaxx okay sorry then....actually come to think of I always treated
Saving private Ryan as more of a very Well done action Flic It wasn't really all that emotionally gripping there were some moments but not enough not nearly enough
cika1234 1 year ago
@cika1234 Your right but I felt that band of brothers really captured the spirit of what it is to be a soldier but the pacfic was garbage
Rhodes7652 1 year ago
@cika1234 Cika...? The Cika that sent me this? You made top comments? Neat. *Completely irrelevant to comment*
KatzeLiebe 1 year ago
@cika1234 the song sends shivers down my spine, band of brothers is the best ever in my opinion im british but watching this makes me feel proud and makes me wish that i was american so that i could feel even more proud of these soldiers, this is a true story(band of brothers) and it makes me feel good inside to know that these men where there fighting for us in the second world war, and what these men whent through is very sad but they are the bravest people i can even think about!!

@paratrooper10 I can agree with you on band of brothers but not the pacific
Rhodes7652 1 year ago
@paratrooper10 the pacific sucked compared to band of brothers.
JJFromCa 1 year ago
@JJFromCa dude it depends what view on the war u liked the most, i prefered the pacific theater more and the pacific capture real battles based on real soldiers, the shows were completly different. not only in settings but in the types of warfare, there was never a japanese soldier yelling out jibberish and charging u in band of brothers, nor will the soldiers of the pacific stumble over a concetration camp
paratrooper10 1 year ago
@paratrooper10 the pacific wasn't nearly as good as band of brothers, check out generation kill if you like war flicks, its about the iraq war and i think its up to par with band of brothers
