Anywho, the premise was to raise money - which is did very well. After watching Shane Warne play this series, then the 20/20 at the Basin for Chch; I actually respect the man alot. This was a series played in NZ after the Boxing Day tsunami hit Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka was touring NZ at the time but decided to go home after the disaster (which no one could blame them for). So NZ Cricket got a World XI together and they played 3 x 50 over series. However this game was rain effected - so was only 10 overs. It was a very light hearted series and very fun to watch...which also raised some money for the disaster. Hope that clears it up.

@SuperHowie15 It was NOT a rain effected game at all. The day was clear full of sunshine. The reason was that the World XI scored a really low scored (80 runs all out ) in the overs that were bowled and hence for the crowed and to raise further funds they decied that every player must ball an over each. Thereefore every one balled including steven flamming. I was at the ground during this match. Later they found that the pitch was to blame due to its quality. And yes it was alot of fun.

@SuperHowie15 This is not quite correct. There was a 50 over match played on this day but it was very low scoring and ended very quickly with the Black Caps winning easily. They then decided to entertain the disappointed crowd with the 10 over game at the end. I was there and it was one of the greatest days and nights of my life, I met all the players on the town after the game as well.

It was supposed to be 50/50 but due to an unpredictable Hamilton pitch it saw the game done with the world XI all out for 81 and New Zealand chasing it down easily. They then decided to do a 10/10 to try and raise more money and give the ticket payers their moneys worth. every team member had to bowl execpt the wicket keeper. It was a laugh and loads of fun

I went to the Wellington game, but I thought one of them was affected by rain - was it Auckland maybe? cant remember as it was about 6 years ago now. My main point was to let people know the reason why the World XI got together. It was a fun series and raised some cash...was good to see the NZ crowds come out and support.

All of the games were quite short the game in Christchurch Stephen fleming scored a massive century and chased a poultry total down in 16 overs. Wellington was the longest game of the series. The crowds really did come out though, just like the good old days. This whole series is still something New Zealand can really be proud of. How many times will you see Murali and Warne in the same team?! Amazing!
