Also, Sometimes they're docked, if born with a long tail.

that is so cute. it reminds me of when my Sadie Lady was a puppy. she's 4 and a half now. she is the most loyal, humble dog i have ever seen. after all this time, she still herds me, which is still wierd. i took her out to potty one day. my neighbors 175 pound rotty ran up and growled at me. that was a mistake. Sadie jumped all over him and whipped him back into his yard. he was screaming loud. she came back and sat at my feet and pawed at my leg. she has me trained to rub her head when she does

we got my australian shepard at a farm and they cut her tail to short, then she had mites from the farm and the breeders didnt do anything about. so we took her to the vet for some medicine and the veterinarian said we should that they cut her tail too short and we should sue them! wow

If you get a dog strictly on looks, you are going to get what you deserve. Aussies are beautiful dogs (i have a black-tri) but if your lifestyle doesn't permit the time Aussies demand then you will end up with a 35-60 pound chewing machine that will find something to occupy it's mind from boredom. An Aussie is NOT a fireplace/lap dog. They are a working dog and potential owners need to be aware of what they are getting into. Aussies are one of the best dogs but like any dog, need good owners.

The Mother had too many puppies to feed, so the breeder took them to the vet to be put to sleep. The vet kept the puppies instead and had raised them.

we had a 13 year old blue merle male (named Mick) and while i was away at college, i got a phone call from my sister that Old Man had to be put to sleep. that was easily one of the worst days of my life. i didnt even get to see him before my dad buried him.

i guess what im saying is that just enjoy the time you have with them.
