Politicians don't want to do anything, they just want to pretend to be doing something. Everybody in Washington knows campaign finance reform is a joke, but they pretend it's important. This wins votes, because the voters are too stupid and ignorant to understand what's going on.
First day of my first economics class, the professor wrote "TINSTAFL" on the board. He said the first thing you need to remember is "TINSTAFL" (There is no such thing as a free lunch).
@shaqdaddy11 Must be one of the same sort of mindset. My economics professor pointed out that, and he also pointed out that People Do What Works. This means that by and large people don't do things that are not going to be of some sort of end benefit, even if it's only for pleasure. Why do so many people go into lobbying? For money, power, and to cheat, to have government give you something that you ordinarily couldn't get in a free market.
