@ch0c4 yes, i thought of this in theory too because the light must hit the object (5 miles away) and bounce back in order for me to see the light (additional 5 miles)

it depends on what surface, on a bare hill at nighttime approximately 1-2 miles with the visible eye. on reflective street signs it will be very noticeable miles away. but if your gonna spend $50 on a 5mw you might as well spent $100 and get a 15mw from dragon lasers

dude no offense but my self-leveler(which is a building tool which uses a laser pointer) can hit a building 15 miles away and shine it in a specific window without the red dot getting significantly bigger on impact. still your video is also impressive.

well i live in reno nv so there is a fair amount of air traffic going in and out of downtown(where i like to shine my laser around) but when i do see an aircraft i just keep it a good distance away from it
