Actually real pop punk (bands like buzzcocks, screeching weasel, mtx, generation x, groovie goolies, vandals, dickies etc.) has always been in my opinion the most punk of any genre of music because it is not only rebelling against the mainstream-but also against the concept of punk.- of course "bubblegum with teeth" was the Ramones idea so I guess pop punk is punks natural state.

And also I do know that they came from money and rather they induldged in being privilleged I have no Idea. It was a letterman interview I think.....
