@crusher you are right -- thats what happens when you get old and start forgetting. It IS an Otis tune which I remembered from the 60s but got mixed up with who did itl
do a quick search on your computer. the black crowes version came out in 1990. this was 1970. the dead covered an otis redding song which he recorded in 1967 (wasn't released until after his death in 68). chris robinson (the lead singer for the black crowes) was 1 when this song was origionally recorded. so their version would be a cover too.
Great video...You should change the caption though. The Grateful Dead are NOT covering a Black Crowes song. It's an Otis Redding song that the Grateful Dead made more well known. The Black Crowes covered it several decades later.
Thank -you thank-you for this . I had friends on the train as roadies . In fact Svend drove the Dead to their free concert in Coronation Park Toronto in a beater . Legs hangin out of the car with a police escort .
hahhahahahaha black crowes

This was a cover of a Sam and Dave tune. The Black Crowes were toddlers when this was recorded.

Really? A cover of the Black Crowes' Hard to Handle in 1970? Try Otis Redding. The Crowes formed in 1989. Fantastic post though!! Great movie.
