I saw them at the TLA in Phily on this tour & when he played this I had tears in my eyes & I'm not ashamed to admit it. I also got misty eyed years later when I saw Mick Jones (in Carbon/Siliscon) do Police on My Back.
who cares if I'm showing my age, I still remember the clash doing this at Leeds Poly (Leeds Met to some of you) in Nov 76 when they played with the pistols, heartbreakers and the damned on the Anarchy in the UK tour.
broken strings and full tilt, on the hoof, as ever. He always seemed to get that the essence of great music was immensely pleasurable *noise*. That and the passion of anybodies real deal.
The only way Joe could get any better is if he were a zombie. Therefore I propose scientists of the world should unite to reanimate him and bring him back for us!
Don't overanalyze, bro. The fans in the crowd wanna hear white riot, and Joe was happy to do it for them. It's not about redoing the bible, it's about sending people home, happy knowing that the saw the man himself perform "White Riot".
ok..does it really matter if the Ramones had "punk" lyrics? it was the music tht made the Ramones punk. in some of the Ramones songs they mention the SLA, Vietnam, and different things if u really listen hard. it was the Clash and the Sex Pistols tht really brought the political side of punk music.
im sorry but he died in 2002. It's not like he's the guy from the Doors, Jim Morrison. where only one doctor sayed he was dead (you need 2 for it to be leagal.)
it might be the string, cos the quality in this vid is not too sharp, so it might make the string or whatever it is thicker or whatever... "one of unsolved mysteries of men" xD
He's been dead 5 years and he is still been touted as the most important musician of the punk period shows you Joe was and is a legend shame there is no one about like this now
Joes amazing , I can imagine him doing that at 70 and still sounding great. Its depressing he won't be able to. I would have killed to see a live performance by him , saved up all my money and flown out to see him wherever he was playing.
