  • What does "尾上祐一" mean?

  • @TaiFerret It is my name.

  • So strange hearing this when being so accustomed to standard

  • Anyone know what would be the hertz for all the open strings?

  • you are a innovator of the electric guitar

  • that's pure cunt man !!

  • Sounds Awesome

  • great sounds! Nice idea for the tuning set-up. I figured you would have had to double every fret to do this, but that is pretty clever.

  • god! they allow crap like this on youtube? just terrible!!

  • @sakanaru You must be bored and have no background in music at all! This is great, your just not used to it and therefore dislike it.

  • a masterpiece.

  • i dont like the echo effect.

  • Don't like it at all. Very sour sounding. I'll stick to 12 tones, thank you.

  • Better to choose a prime number to divide actualy, but very nice attempt though!

  • It sounds out of tune compared to standard tuning but all the strings are in tune with each other. That's why it sounds so strange.

  • It takes a while for it to not sound way out of tune, it's not what most of us are used to :P

  • nice tuning but really bad expressed

  • this sounds strange and exotic and kind of cool

  • Sounds like a sack-pipe.

  • I really like the sound of this.

  • A true musician is always aware of what is music to the ears of others . Not just his own !!

  • WHAT THE FUCK?

  • You arrogant redneck! You prisoner of your own prejudices!

No, really, I can feel the dog shit in this, but on the same time I can feel the real Indian micro-tonal feeling. This actually sounds pretty good for micro-tonal music. Am I becoming one of those... *sob*... elitists?

  • Los invito a la nueva web de microtonalismo: MICROTONALISMO punto COM

Tambien hay musica y videos de microtonalismo.

    Saludos

  • the fuck?

  • Did you insert yourself in the Quarter tone article on Wikipedia? ; )

  • This is awesome!

I'm gonna use it in a tech death/math metal song! O_O

  • no you aren't. i already tried and it's impossible. it just comes out sounding like shit.

  • Now boys and girls we can appreciate why we all stick to 12 tet.

  • a dumbshit says 'what'?

  • rofl

  • who?

  • Is this one of those video where they overdub it to make it sound really really bad? I hope so :(

  • Very traditional sound, I mean its pure culture. Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Algarian, Egyptian and Mongolian type of music.

  • Hhhmmm... Interesting... ;)

  • i agree

  • Hi, is this a true temperment neck? Or is this just a different tuning?

    Thanks.

  • Hi. This is just a different tuning.

    See information of this video.

You can check URL of method of this tuning there.

  • very cool. are there many artists working with alternate scales in japan? the avant-garde stuff i have heard hasn't seemed to use it.

  • just intonation 's meant to be just, not unjust

  • There is nothing wrong with using a 24 tone scale as apposed to a 12 note scale. It is in fact much more creative and creates more options for composers. It is a shame that many people have a very restrictive mind about what is and what isn't music. It isn't even really avaunt-guard. Its just the creation of a new field of music. Kind of like how calculus or linear algebra are fields of math. Not everything is just algebra.

  • I think you missed a rather subtle joke...

Besides, just intonation has less to do with 12-TET than 24-TET does.

  • @Jewdai "creation of a new field of music" is just about the definition of avant-garde (note the spelling by the way).

  • I recognized a bit of the Lama Bada yatathana

  • I would like to hear it without the effect.

  • Nice.

Actually there is an arab tuning that i use very similar:

both E open strings are tuned a quarter tone lower and the b string tuned a quarter tone lower.

if someone like to c i'll post an example of playing like that on my youtube page... please let me know.

  • Yes, you can.

Please look "About This Video"(which is the right side of this video).

It describes link page about method of this tuning.

  • Its such a weird sound but its sooo cool!

  • Sounds like a chinese zither - cool!

  • AWESOME!Beautiful and strange music!

I'll try your interesting method of tuning...I've already added 2 extra frets on a classical guitar (between the first and second frets and also between the third and fourth frets) to play arabic modes like "bayati", but your method works on a standart neck, and also for new experimentations!

    THANX!

  • >I've already added 2 extra frets

    That's good idea.

Is there any infomation(like photo and audio) about your special guitar?

    I want to check it.

  • You can go on my website, click on MUSIQUE → microtonals → guitares microtonales → Photos...

    It's the 4th picture!

  • Yuichi could you upload a video of your multifretted guitar? Thank you, keep on making music.

  • Mmm just like algerian mandoles!. The worst of putting two extra frets on an already fretted instrument is that you have to relevel the fingerboard in order to prevent fret buzzing isn't it? I've checked your web page, I like your guitars and flutes, they're great for experimenting middle eastern & ancient music.

  • Wonderful. I play quarter tones on my fretless classical guitar too. For arabic music mainly two quarter tones are used together with the 12 tet system.

  • Damn, and I thought I invented the 24 tone tuning with my guitar. Fretless classical guitar, never heard of it but it sounds like an awesome idea.

  • Yeah it's nice an idea but be careful with neck warping when you do it. Put as lightest strings as possible. Do you have a 24 tet guitar?

  • No, I just use an ordianry guitar and tune some of the strings off a quarter tone to create the 24 tone effect.

  • ...brilliant...beautiful...

  • Hi there!

    I find this very beautiful..!

    Great playing and great notes..

    best from Croatia

    Jurica

  • Wow, how cool! Maybe a bit too much delay ;) but it sounds really cool.

  • Hory shit, I want one.

  • I coldn't do it, but I don't know if I'd want to. Thanks anyway.

  • i dig it.

  • do it please!!
