@FarewellBlackSwan "I made it for a Tori fan I was trolling" It's great how you readily admit to being a troll. Respectable, in a way.
And no, I don't remember seeing your comments around. I tend to forget superficial remarks though, especially when they're being directed at someone as formidable as Ms. Amos.
@FarewellBlackSwan And speaking of obsessions, your profile and comments suggest you're quite obsessed with Tori Amos as well. She usually has those effects on people. Profound respect or pitiful jealousy.
I wonder if Tori Amos herself reads any of these comments??? I hope so, because all I can say is she's very very talented and a pleasure to listen to! Thanks, Miss Amos! A fan from the UK. x
I'm still blown away to have learned that this song is a riff on the interpersonal dynamics of East African female circumcision practices -- the culturally-socialized "cornflake" girl thinks like all the rest, the "raisin" girl is the uncommon one who questions tribal authority - & "Rabbit, where'd you put the keys" is a girl's mother trying to get her out of her room to take her to the circumcising elder, who cuts off her clitoris so she'll never have a reason to be unfaithful to her husband !
This is the story I get from reading interviews with TA - I got curious about what the obscure lyrics meant, and why TA got so emotional when she performs her songs - now I get it, she's outraged
What a beautifully talented person Tori Amos is. Thank you for all the wonderful music. Absolutely love her music. The world is a better place with her in it!
i agree, i ove them both...they are similar but very different in a way, i dont get why people fight over which is better or whatever, they both do their own thing
I admittedly don't know tons about Kate Bush, obviously Tori's my #1, so this question is out of curiosity only :) What Kate Bush albums/songs do you love the most? How many albums does she have? I think I have something crazy like 40 different full Tori albums. She's hugely prolific! Lots of Bee sides, maybe more than what she has on records. You can't get them at the record store, though :(
over 40 albums, wow that is prolific. perhaps it is that over here we are only used to getting the commercial tracks.. i think the analogy between kate and tori lies in them both having a background in classical music. not sure how mamy albums; kate has.; but i love all her music.(been following her since 1978.) have you heard their duet. souls akindred. love your user name. regards.
@alwaysgoodforastorm I completely agree. Kate Bush is about as prolific as Tori's pinkie. But they're very different performers. I don't see why the comparison came up in the first place.
Kate does play the piano (nowhere near as good as this). Kate is a woman/composer/singer. That's about as far as the similarities go.
Am i the only one who thinks their voices sound very different? Kate's is thinner/airier.
Kate Bush is great! Tori really paved the way for a lot of female rock musicians. This song is 15 years old and it still rocks. Are you a new or old Tori fan?
Yup, Kate Bush was one of the first of the first! I didn't mean to play down her influence down in any way. Most of my favorite female singer-songwriters (like Bjork) are influenced by her. I'm just an avid Tori fan :) I was more thinking of the new young women who are brilliant rock pianists today but wasn't very clear about it. My apologies.
In a word? Class..

@FarewellBlackSwan o ok. I'll try to stick to chart-toppers from now on. Girls aloud, The Spice Girls, Kate Bush...
How does it feel being a self-proclaimed troll btw?
th3wing3dpaint3r 7 months ago
@FarewellBlackSwan hmm...I'd suggest finding something more useful to do with your time, but it's completely up to you :D

@FarewellBlackSwan Why are you here watching a Tori Amos video then? :D
th3wing3dpaint3r 7 months ago
not bad but i cant hear it as other songs need to hear her real voice yell scream sound like colors of light beam off her
pattitaniguchi 1 year ago
Sure kate Bush was first in sound...But Tori's lyric's have way more metaphor and are alot deeper.

Anyone notice the same themes between Little Earthquakes and Kate Bush's Hounds of Love. Fathers, ice etc..

Female betrayl in a global sense. Specifically a reaction to a novel featuring female circumcisions.
