As someone living near huge bodies of water, they should be responsible by trying to acquire knowledge about anything related to the ocean like tides, occurrences etc. now look, some of them should still be alive now..just sad...

Rest In Peace, people who died. It's really not easy to watch this, because so many people died... Not everyone knew what a tsunami were back then... But I hope people have learned that sometimes it's better to run than just stand were you are so you could tell people back home what you were witnessing, because you may not get home.

Well it is amazing that those people filming survived the waves when they went into buildings. If you see the devastating force of the Japanese Tsunami yesterday whole buildings were taken by the waves and there was no way to escape.. One of the most scariest things of nature.

My cousin David always went to Phuket for Xmas and in 2004 decided to go for New Years instead so he just missed being in this tsunami. People didn't know what was happening. Now hopefully everybody knows if the tide goes out a tsunami is coming.

whats even more frightening is all the tourists just standing there watching the wave build up, when i was a kid i vividly remember reading about a tsunami hitting chile: 'the water receded from the shore way out past the low tide mark, as if sucked through a straw, the locals knew what was coming, the cry went out "the sea has retreated!! and nearly all the people reached high ground before the wave came and destroyed all the houses'. if only the tourists knew untold 1000s would be alive today
