Another #1 hit for Loretta Lynn on the Country & Western charts. It was the 251st #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks charts.
pink teardrops can think what she wants... you don't like it ... too bad. i'm in my 50's and this was my grandma's music.... i kinda think it's lame but i listen to remember her. but to bad mouth the youngster for liking what she likes. going to give the girl an ass whoopin" ... give mine a kissing
I got to this from the White Stripes version. They're great but this is undoubtedly better. My only query is this - is this an anti -divorce song? I know you can only judge an artists output by the time & place...but that's a terrible message, isn't it? Fuck up in love & pay for life? Ahhh, bugger it. Not my problem, I suppose. This is still a great sounding song.
@morningchaps Nahh, at the very end (last 20 seconds) you can hear her voice over, basically saying it's a shame that societal standards were (and sort of are) that way.
Pink teardrops has no clue what real music is if they think this is crap, crawl back under your rock and stay there. Don't ever badmouth Miss Loretta again.
@43wbond Loretta's always been one of my favorite's too. Her music has been playing since before any of these superficial popstars even existed and it'll keep playing long after everyone forgets beyonce and lady gaga
@PinkTeardropos Guess what? Don't like the song? Don't look at the video then moron. I'm only 16 and I like this much better than when she was with Jack White, because Jack White is not really that great, in my opinion. One of my favorite songs by her. This is real music, not freaking Jack White. Get real....

@morningchaps it's not anti-divorce, it's about the double standards divorced women face.

@starcrossed7184 Back then, divorce was a sin. Now, people think nothing of it.
