I lost someone close to me because these pills destroyed her body and mind piece by piece for ten years. I'm doing whatever is within my power to prevent anyone close to me to take this drugs. I will not watch someone die slowly because drug companies wan't to make money on our lives.
@slaughterjoke - Ironically the latest stats show that one person every 19 minutes dies from aleopathic drugs and that results in the millions dying per year of such drugs. That is murder and a death penalty offense if prosecuted.
@Prophit0 You should at least do your math when throwing out made up statistics. It makes you just slightly believable. If one person died every 19 minutes from allopathic drugs, that would add up to 27,664 deaths.
Over medication is certainly an issue, but so are blatantly ignorant fabrications that even the slightest semblance of thought and basic calculation can prove wrong.
I personally wouldnt want to put a dangerous chemical in my body that hasn't been properly tested and the ones prescribing it can't even tell me what it does when its inside me. That's just nuts! I get better treatment when I take my dog to the vets. They fully explain and show pictures of everything and they even offer me behavioural or inexpensive options when im low on money. I wish all drs were this upfront with information!

I have ADHD and like a mood disorder. I was on Adderall.. I think it helped but I also have some kind of mood disorder/bi-polar/schizophrenia or something and I take resperidone.. It's helped a lot with that but zoloft is complete shit! fuck all that zombie bullshit
this is a very misleading documentary because the job of a psychiatrist or psychologist is to try and find a verdict of insanity based on certain circumstances witch include but are not limited to economic status,social status , if the patient is physically healthy, the patients past medical history such any medications they are on not related to psychiatric disorder, family status, relationship status, ...etc. So to say that the whole psychiatric community is lying is rediculouse

For example a child who has been neglected or abused their whole life is most likely going to end up repeating the same mistakes the parents did thus adding to the vicious cycle of abuse. The moral dilemma is the child had no control over the way they were raised so they might wind up making the wrong decisions instead of beneficial ones later in life.

The benefit of not believing in an omnipotent god helps us "apathetic" atheists realize that poor decisions made in this lifetime (the only one that can be proven) can truly harm other people. Rather than doing something bad and praying about it, we try not to do bad things in the first place. Please provide evidence that god is responsible for this.

Morals are also not exclusive to humans; any modern behavioral study of chimpanzees can tell you that. I'm not sure how anybody can assume that morals come from a god conceptualized by Bronze Age desert nomads, the very same god who was content with slavery, rape, and murder, and who believed that the earth was flat (which doesn't exactly suggest omnipotence).

People with ADHD are far more likely to abuse street drugs when they're older if they don't take stimulant medication. If they don't get professional help, they turn to the streets as a form or self medicating.

I got alot done on Prozac, and on the outside I appeared to be better than ever, I didn't like the effects though and the lack of emotion, not caring about people, or music, and not being able to relax for any lengthy period of time. If used carefully (and in lower doses) I think it could have some benefits with short term use.

The problem with taking these drugs is that if you take it you have to take it everyday, and it changes your personality and perspective on life. @lupon18 I do have to take it everyday, i'm not in denial of anything. I know I'm addicted/dependent on my medication but i still stand by my quality of life argument. When my meds stopped working, i let everyone down.. I coulden't live up to any expectations i previously achieved. It's probably the worst feeling i ever felt.
i have ADD, and I've been taking vyvance for 3 years because of it. before vyvance i had all failing grades, i got left back in 7th grade. Now I'm in the top 15% of my class and i picked up an instrument and play shows at a few places! The side effects included loss of appetite and i lost 40 pounds. I used to be really fat but now i'm a good weight! I forced myself to eat everyday after i lost that weight and im great! But medicine is starting to lose it's potency :/
@Donyandfreinds medicine as well as a "religious cure",hipnosis ,etc. All will lose their efficacy ("their potency")because you invariably will lose either faith in your belief or become aware of the reality that the problem centers and originates somewhere else within you.
I already had a fast metabolism, but Ritalin and virtually all the major ADHD stimulants are partially what made me a corpse in high school. I've been on countless meds, and have recently weened off of them...going on 4 months, and I honestly haven't felt this good since I was 12.

Tons of people (contrary to some naturopaths/doctors) have long-term mental/emotional disorders yet are very physically healthy... good iron, good diet, exercise frequently, adrenal and thyroid is working fine, etc. etc... So yeah, to me this video is a biased pile of BS that takes a very unrealistic "black and white" approach to its subject matter.
This "documentary" is as biased as the industry it claims is the real problem. And to say that underlying physical causes are the real problem is both self-contradictory to the message of this video as well as completely false.
There are medications out there which do not cause dependence, dosages which are low enough to help you avoid dependence on drugs that tend to get people hooked, and a good psychiatrist will help you so that you don't end up having nasty side effects.

My friends child was diagnosed as having ADHD by his school, I diagnosed him as being more intelligent than his teachers. He wasn't dumb, his mind worked far faster than the average adult. Put him on a fast paced video game and his attention is fixed, he's incredible. I went to his school and told them what I found, I told them they were boring him.

Hospitals are under too much pressure to create bed space that they can't afford to keep people in who are well, they get discharged very quickly. I agree that there is money is meds but health services try and keep costs down by using the more expensive meds only where necessary. I also agree that some of the catorgories of mental illness is ridiculous, but you can't deny the reality of psychosis.

I understand the points made in this documentary but it is so one sided! For some people medication keeps them from being psychotic and helps them to cope with life. There are many side affects but in many cases the benefits outweigh the side affects. They can even prevent people from becoming pscyhotic or from having another episode. It is just like with any drug, trial and error is what has to happen but usually the drugs are backed up with years of research and results of success.

There is a large difference between ups & downs & bipolar disorder. Misinformation is comparing a structural defect (broken leg) to a biochemical one (psychosis). Use of antipsychotics explains 6.6% of the change in brain volume & is reversable. For a study with no placebo, poor controls, & has not been replicated this is unimpressive.
I read in a book called 'Beyond Prozac' by Terry Lynch that if the people who contructed the DSM IV went to a doctor they would be diagnosed with Obsessive Compulive Disorder. I thought it was hilarious; but at the same time its scary because its so true.

I personally wouldnt want to put a dangerous chemical in my body that hasn't been properly tested and the ones prescribing it can't even tell me what it does when its inside me. That's just nuts! I get better treatment when I take my dog to the vets. They fully explain and show pictures of everything and they even offer me behavioural or inexpensive options when im low on money. I wish all drs were this upfront with information!

People with ADHD are far more likely to abuse street drugs when they're older if they don't take stimulant medication. If they don't get professional help, they turn to the streets as a form or self medicating.
Yes, these drugs have their risk factors (theres no hiding that). But in many cases, the positives do out weigh the risks.

Alot of truth in this, but sometimes psychotropic drugs benefit patients with mental problems (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc).
I got alot done on Prozac, and on the outside I appeared to be better than ever, I didn't like the effects though and the lack of emotion, not caring about people, or music, and not being able to relax for any lengthy period of time. If used carefully (and in lower doses) I think it could have some benefits with short term use.

i have ADD, and I've been taking vyvance for 3 years because of it. before vyvance i had all failing grades, i got left back in 7th grade. Now I'm in the top 15% of my class and i picked up an instrument and play shows at a few places! The side effects included loss of appetite and i lost 40 pounds. I used to be really fat but now i'm a good weight! I forced myself to eat everyday after i lost that weight and im great! But medicine is starting to lose it's potency :/

I have very little respect for generalizations and it seems to me that some people absolutely need medication, even for a short period to allow them some quality of life. Tons of people (contrary to some naturopaths/doctors) have long-term mental/emotional disorders yet are very physically healthy... good iron, good diet, exercise frequently, adrenal and thyroid is working fine, etc. etc... So yeah, to me this video is a biased pile of BS that takes a very unrealistic "black and white" approach to its subject matter.

There are medications out there which do not cause dependence, dosages which are low enough to help you avoid dependence on drugs that tend to get people hooked, and a good psychiatrist will help you so that you don't end up having nasty side effects.

My friends child was diagnosed as having ADHD by his school, I diagnosed him as being more intelligent than his teachers. He wasn't dumb, his mind worked far faster than the average adult. Hospitals are under too much pressure to create bed space that they can't afford to keep people in who are well, they get discharged very quickly. I agree that there is money is meds but health services try and keep costs down by using the more expensive meds only where necessary. I also agree that some of the catorgories of mental illness is ridiculous, but you can't deny the reality of psychosis.

If you ever met a kid on kiddy cocaine or any other opinion code , you will realize not one medical test exists to rule out the "opinion" of a psych. because that is all it is. Can't sue for an opinion based on no medical conclusion. Years treated for wrong diagnosis.

I understand the points made in this documentary but it is so one sided! For some people medication keeps them from being psychotic and helps them to cope with life. There are many side affects but in many cases the benefits outweigh the side affects. They can even prevent people from becoming pscyhotic or from having another episode. It is just like with any drug, trial and error is what has to happen but usually the drugs are backed up with years of research and results of success.

Question is, can what is being shown on the PET scan clear up by natural means such as healthy lifestyle and optimised nutrition or does it always 100% require psychotropic drugs? @madmanatsea It is ridiculous because it disregards that these drugs were not created for the masses who demand drugs but for patients with severe problems. There is a large difference between ups & downs & bipolar disorder. Misinformation is comparing a structural defect (broken leg) to a biochemical one (psychosis). Use of antipsychotics explains 6.6% of the change in brain volume & is reversable. For a study with no placebo, poor controls, & has not been replicated this is unimpressive.

I have no proven fact about the companies and doctors overmedicating. My fact is that I developed a DVT while pregnant with no history of clotting problems, so it may have been caused by ortho evra... I am really a medical mystery,,,I have multiple things wrong with me and nobody cant figure out why. Are you trying to start a fight with me ?? I am not on here to fight. Side affects domino affect. Was a workaholic, started out with Ambien.
