@98MAzdaMilleniaS Legacy 2001 wasnt tested by euroNCAP, so it didnt get 5 stars. It was only tested in america, and american crash standards were MUCH MUCH lower than those in euroNCAP.
This car is EXTREMELY solid even for todays standards. Look how still the body remains during the crash. No ripples on the doors or the roof. Rock solid.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS And by the way, that car in video is now 11 years old....so...honda legend from that time wouldnt even get 3 stars on euroncap, while this laguna scored a score 11 years ago that is still comparable to the safest cars built today. Its engineering masterpiece.
@derbigpr500 A Subaru Legacy from 12 years ago is just as safe if not safer. :) The 2007 Honda Legend/Acura RL does in fact have the best frontal crash test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA(with the lowest ever recorded HCI)..... Thanks to Honda's patented ACE body structure this car is the car you want to be in during a crash. It weighs 4000 lbs too, which helps tremendously. This Renault weighs as much as a pop can, yeah sure it may hold up in this test, but we all know the smart car vs big car
@98MAzdaMilleniaS Actually, you are very wrong. Subaru Legacy from 12 years ago cant even be compared to Laguna. Laguna in 2001 was BY FAR the safest car in the world, and it had much better ratings than any other car.. Its not only about how much the car breaks from the outside...that the smallest problem. This car doesn weigh as much as a pop can, in fact it weighs more than Legacy. Also, it was tested (same as small city Renaults) against BIG 2 ton Renault VelSatis, and it did great.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS No it freaking doesnt score as any new car. It got 4 stars on IIHS..thats like 3 stars on euroNCAP....i dont care about IIHS, they're tests are primitive and not even nearly as good as euroNCAP's. You can live in a fairy tale land where legacy from 00' is a very safe car, but its not...and its nowhere near close to Laguna from 2001 which was then THE SAFEST CAR IN THE WORLD, first car to get 5 stars on euroNCAP (and 5 stars were considered impossible to get until then).
@98MAzdaMilleniaS And its not just about the tests in labs...its about real life tests... check out the fifth gear test where laguna was crashed into a big tree at 55 mph...thats 55 mph. The car remained solid as a rock, doors opened normally , and no intrusion into the cabin. Legacy would be scrapped off the tree with a shovel or the tree would end up in the back seats..just like in most other cars. Laguna was tested against big SUV's and Vans (2+ tons heavy) and it did excellent against all.
@98MAzdaMilleniaS Tested in euroNCAP rules, Legacy from 1999 or 2000 would get 3 stars, this 10 year old laguna is still safer and has a better score than the NEWEST legacy.
watching the crashtests and reading reports about the safety, im glad having a 5-star NCAP 2.0T Laguna :-D knowing about the safety of the car it really relieves me driving it
Got one too! :-) 2.0T Initiale

Very few people know, but this is actually the first car in the world with 5 stars at EuroNCAP.

The Legacy that came out in 2000 as a 2001 model earned 5 stars dipshit ! It had one of the lowest HIC readings ever recorded by the NHTSA too !

Don't like this type of wheel covers which are typically used by Renault. It seems very cheap and poor quality.
and no need for the crash sound :S

@derbigpr500" Laguna was tested against big SUV's and Vans (2+ tons heavy) and it did excellent against all."
Do you have a link to this, or where did you get this info from, was the Laguna crashed into the vans?
Would be interested to see this.
Cheers

@wizzkid37 Google for Laguna vs Espace and Laguna vs Vel Satis. Both of these are about 2 tons.

@derbigpr500 HI, well i googled it and found nothing, where did you see this any ideas?
They actually crashed a Laguna into Espace? The 2003 model espace? How did Laguna do?
would be good if you could find info for me, cheers
