  • far side armbar ftw.

  • If this is the best submission reversal ever then why does the intro say : "submission of the week"? Its a basic mid level move, executed well.

  • Sexxy

  • GSP vs Hughes one? Whut.

  • Sameas gsp hughes one. I think hughes was better though, was faster and was a little cleaner.

  • what brilliant video quality

  • this is nice but its common watch gsp vs matt hughes #1

  • wow pic fail going for that and not securing the body, ala hughes gsp

  • i believe this happend at UFC 50 hughes vs pierre

  • @mayhem87rod Can't be UFC, there's a ring.

  • i dont be rude, but that's actually a very simple reversal, you learn that in like first month of grappling (well at least i did)

  • He isn't Sakuraba. but Tamura.

  • carlos newton was a bad ass till hughes dropped him on his head

  • @pounding40s - are you trying to bring back an age old debate? hughes was already out from the triangle choke. =P

  • Fuckin Matt Hugues did the exact same thing to GSP at 4:59 of the first round.

And,btw, its one of the first counter attack you lean in BJJ.(one of the first that I learned anyway!!!)

That being said,it was a great vid and also, its one thing to learn the move. But its completely another thing to do it in a MMA bout!!!

  • Matt Hughes submitted GSP in the exact same fashion!

  • Lol the guy was going for a kimora from side defense. That was just a dumb move that cost someone dearly.

Not much skill. Just good formula. The guys guard was weak as well.

  • @Dshnizal15 The Fuck is u sayin... Did u see how calm he was in the KimUra. He had the foot controlling his guard.

  • i wouldve let go of the kimura once he had passed and immediately started to try and get back to a guard..

  • @scorcher165 Cool story bro.

  • Did this as a white belt

  • If you look closely the Asain dude tapped before it was even locked in

  • @TheEbopallday I think he was actually just trying to reach for the other arm to get it back. You could be right though.

  • sacuraba did an even nicer one in ufc

  • as joe rogan always says the counter for an over commited kimura is steppin over and arm barring the mofucka

  • @ physallisgundam

    Hillarious!

  • Saw that armbar coming nicely done

  • wata reversal

  • this is a bunch off gay porn

  • @AlexOrtiz100 oh is it? go fucking mungle on some cock.

  • @henryz0r great use of the word mungle!

  • @AlexOrtiz100 what's gay abou it? It's two men FIGHTING? Is it because they are in fight shorts? Does it make you think about men in some way that makes you uncomfortable? I think that this is more about your feelings. Men fight. Doesnt make them gay. men are animals. If you are a man you understand this. Even if you're a gay man, which is ok, you still understand. This sport is about DOMINATION. Doesnt matter if the guy youre roll'n with is gay or not. And to be honest, some are man.

  • wooow

  • I can never tell who is winning these things :/ newb alert

  • Who knew corbin bleu was good at jiujitsu

  • Good bye to that arm! So broken!

  • Carlos Newton came to my bjj club.

  • reminded me of GSP vs. Hughes I

  • fuckin asian names mma fighter names.

  • He should let go the Kimura as soon as Carlos passed the half guard

  • i wouldn't call it the best ever, that's a very standard submission counter, it's still good but the other made a big mistake by holding onto it

  • wtf? that my friends is what you call a submission reversal *applause*

  • ohhhh shit i'm gonna rep this!

  • thats pretty much gsp vs hughs 1 lol

  • i love how everybody is talking like they know bjj, but probably dont even know how to even put a half guard.

  • OWNED! UFC3 plz have this!

  • one cool customer who didn't panic when a kimura was slapped on him just grabbed the guys foot on the bottom to prevent him going full guard. you can see him workin it out in his head how hes going to pass guard to side control. motivating and goddamn awesome.

  • This is why you let go of Kimura if the guy passes to side control. Lol.

  • Carlos Newton had some of the slickest grappling Ive seen in MMA.

  • @BoogieKnight1976 den matt hugs gave him a brain hemorrhage lol

  • he gave that armbar away

  • What is name the song plz ?

  • same mistake JSP made when fought matt hughes for the first time.

  • What is name the song plz ?

  • @juanchysim The song is Muse - Stockholm Syndrome

    youtube.com/watch?v=gXN9acC9edU

  • @juanchysim It does not matter what the name is; the shit heavy metal which is used on almost every MMA video all sounds the same-just who is louder.

  • @RPenta

Then isn't anywhere close to "heavy metal" you dipshit.

Fuck idiots these days have no idea what music is.

  • @Breakneckhydra Heavy Metal is to music what military intelligence is to intelligence.

Sounds like noise to me; that's close enough.

You can now go back to playing the air guitar, shit head.

  • @RPenta This sounds more like electronic music than metal......Some metal is really good. Don't diss it all. I agree with you about military intelligence being a complete oxymoron though. Unfortunately we have a civilian populace that is even dumber.

  • Freakin awesome!

  • What is name the song plz ?

  • What is name the song plz ?

  • wow what a dumbass!! who tries a kimura from that position??? you all the way deserved to get armbar'd for that dick move lol

  • @SpeezyBeatsTUP you must be a casual fan, do yourself a favor and get off you're ass and take a BJJ class

also get your eyes checked turd...

  • @lazyboy419 you must be a lame ass with no life..to care that much about what i said..obviously the kimura didnt work..so how dont i know shit about bjj???i never once said that a kimura from that position was impossible to execute..i said it was dumb to try..and this is a prime example why..so grab a tissue and wipe those tears cryass

  • @SpeezyBeatsTUP

The kimura the guy on bottom had was totally legit BUT:

Newton had grabbed a hold of the foot, a very smart move which not only denied the bottom guy the ability to recover guard it also allowed Newton to pass to side control with relative ease. This fight was in 1998... not very many people came into fights with the ground work that Newton had.

Now, like lazyboy419 said, get off you're ass and take a BJJ class!

Oh and do get those eyes checked, I think you might be going blind.

  • @SpeezyBeatsTUP Kimura from guard is a standard move, but he was too intent on securing the submission, and he let his opponent pass guard. Without guard, there is no leverage for a kimura/americana from the bottom, so he lost it, and then got submitted by the counter.

  • I stuck my thumb up my own arse rather than watch this, then posted my throbbing thumb here - Nice !!!!!!!

  • matt hughes vs gsp was better

  • 0:30 armbar

  • @MrRoMaNiA23 No! Really?

  • @MsAdolfHipster i didn't even speak to you so get a life

  • Lol, i thought he were going to sit on his face, haha.

  • this almost likes the newton and sakuraba fight.

  • that's why you should always secure and lock his damn legs when doing kimura

  • good example of position over submission

  • what are they wearing?

  • Badass reversal, BUT an armbar is the proper reversal from a kimura... so "Best reversal ever" is saying too much.

Matt Hughes pulled a better one on St Pierre

  • AMAZINGLY INTELLIGENT

  • AMAZING

  • Are you people stupid? over 250k views and you are still saying "that guy on the bottom"??? He is one of MMA's pioneers, Kazushi Sakuraba, aka The Grace killer. Please don't criticize his actions, as he could walk into your home at any time, and break your arm with nothing more than his baby toes.

    Talk about disrespectful.

  • @menziesa

that isn't sakuraba, you fucking moron lol

  • @menziesa HAHAHA Sakuraba? doesn't even look like him. It says Kenji Kawaguchi befor the match and in the decriptions lol. And btw It's not The Gracie KILLER it's The Gracie Hunter. Guess there will be no reply, you simply feel to stupid now right? hehe

  • Oh lol thought tatania knew who was fighting. The guys name is Kenji Kawaguchi damn it!

  • @menziesa lol trooooool

  • @menziesa you think all japanese people look the same? and you dont even know that its GRACIE not GRACE

    Talk about disrespectful.

  • @menziesa Talk about stupid.....You are mentally retarded or joking. That is not Sakuraba, read the title again...jesus christ, put orange(or red) and white shorts on an asian and all of a sudden he's Sakuraba, read before you type ya tit.

  • Dragon Ball jiu jitsu rulez :p

  • When opponent is having side control, it is best not to do kimura .

  • @chungzheng not best? dude i'm a bjj brown belt and I sweep people alot when have the kimura on the bottom in side control and sweep the guy and finish the sub on top.

  • @hallokity123 yes but you scoop your heaps and go to north south to do the sweep.

  • @dichaos like that one aswell, but alot of people do not expect getting sweept from side control you know?

  • @chungzheng Not 100% true. You can use itto sweep your opponent if you do it correctly. But if he stept over, pull back your arm and get on your knees and posture up (to avoid the armbar and a possible triangle coming afterwards).

  • @racingmylife15 Okay you got the point :D

  • someone was watching the hughes an gsp fight....

  • @whookid07 so he went into the future to watch that fight? lol the hughes vs gsp fight happened in 2004 this fight was in 1998

  • @ricane98 i was just saying that cuz thats what happen to gsp

  • @whookid07

Uhm...Like six years before that fight, this happened. Newton was involved in a fight where he choked Matt Hughes out and then got knocked out from the slam. Matt was out and didn't even know what happened and then was shocked to find he had won the belt.

  • NNIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!! Awesome counter to a far side armbar!!

  • Carlos was always one of my favorite fighters. I wonder what ever happen to this guy.

  • that was beast

  • @TomSpartan218 I liked GSP's armbar on hughes even better

  • @Wh1teB0ii369 I liked Armbar's GSP on Hughes.

  • @RickMerchantttt Hahaha no

  • COOl

  • i do submissions in my bet with my girl

  • Comment removed

  • @TomSpartan218 lol well the point of the story was as foundation for my statement! for logical statements to be valid they must be based on a foundation rooted firmly in both truth and situational integrity! i was simply inserting that story to ensure those reading it of the accuracy of my previous statement! i do sincerely apologize if it sounded to be otherwise, but i assure you it was only proof of my statement, no more and no less!

  • @ValiantArcher

    HUH?

  • @ImFineYurSick what part are you questioning?

  • @TomSpartan218 lol life story? hahahaha if that was all there was to my life it would be quite pathetic! so i automatically must be some 5 year old simply because i expressed my opinion? i apologize, i was unaware that to be considered older than 5 everyone had to conform to the ignorant views of the unexperienced masses! please accept my sincerest apologies for standing up for logic and experience and basic bjj fight style!

  • Great skills!

  • @TomSpartan218 he was still attempting the kimura after his guard was passed - therefore - he was going for a kimura while in side control. this is a bad move because you have no leverage. that's bjj 101.this principle applies to the guillotine as well. if during ur attempt ur guard is passed than u have very little control of ur opponent. not worth it

  • Nice move, but far from the best reversal ever.

  • Gay

  • Sakuraba getting a kneebar on Newton when Newton was trying for a rear naked choke was badass . look that fight up.

  • yup looked like standard reversal.

  • Hughes did the same thing to GSP in their first fight. kimura from the bottom countered by armbar.

  • Best reversal ever?? Taking the armbar off of a kimura is expected, Dip sh*t!

I thought I might learn something off this video. I want my 39 seconds back!

  • the reversal is beautiful dont get me wrong but it is pretty basic....one of the first counters u learn in bjj in when someone over commits on a kmura u step over and go for the far side armbae=r

  • @PlanB198 It's gorgeous because it's so basic, really.

  • this is the EXACT mistake GSP made on his first encounter with Matt Hughes. Hughes turned through the kimura to submit GSP via armbar with 1 second left in the round.

  • DragonBall Z Jiu-Jitsu.... I gotta learn that

  • To be honest, you shouldn't be attempting a Kimura from side control.

  • ehh.

  • damn that was sweet lol

  • boa DBZ JIU JITSU

  • best sub revwersal ever= this is exactly the same as matt hughes vs gsp 1. kimura from half guard attempt, pass, far-side armbar.

  • which song is it please???

  • @patrickangus16 Stockholm syndrome - Muse

  • @imacomputer1

    thanks a lot man :)

  • @patrickangus16 Muse - Stockholm Syndrome

  • niiice!!

  • BJJ PORRA

  • The guy on the bottom was retarded. If you really think you can kimura a top level jiu jitsu fighter while he has u in side control than you shouldn't be a pro fighter.

  • @anthemofadam great point. but it has happened

  • @anthemofadam You know sometimes you just use a submission attempt to change the fighter's position. Not saying that is what was happening here but it could be possible.

  • @anthemofadam mate, a kimure is not only a submission, it's only a way to reverse your opponent. And it looks like he started out from half guard. In which you can do the submission.

  • @anthemofadam ya know folks use to say the same thing about a guy trying a kimura while his back was being taken and then Renzo Gracie one of the greatest Submission fighters ever got his arm broken by Kazushi Sakuraba with that very move.

  • @anthemofadam retard

  • @khaiho95 lol you're calling him a retard?? he was absolutely correct in his assessment! i learned bjj from rhelson gracie so i know about the gracies and anthemofadam is correct in what he said!

  • @anthemofadam He had the Kimura set up while Newton was still in his guard. Generally, as soon as he passes guard, you should let it go, but it happened pretty quick once Newton passed.

  • @anthemofadam

tell that to GSP when he fought Hughes the first time.....beginner's mistake....it happens....look at GSP now...

  • @anthemofadam agreed. I dont think newton was at any point in danger of being submitted. I think he was actually letting that guy keep the kimura while he maneuvered himself into side control. And when that guy still held on to the kimura while his half guard was passed...well that was just a white belt mistake right there.

  • @anthemofadam

jacare has kimura'd other bjj blackbelt competitors from side control

  • @anthemofadam he had him in an odd half guard. but carlos held his leg and slipped to side control. he put in the kimura when he was in half guard. but obviously newton's jiu jitsu slipped the guard and then the asian dude was fucked

  • lol you sir are a fail in life

  • @anthemofadam

    well said.

  • @anthemofadam "Retarded" is a bit harsh for the all of three seconds he attempted it. If you don't get the turnover, you might create a scramble. There are a lot worse things to be doing as a better grappler is passing your guard.

  • @anthemofadam Wow you and the 44 idiots that gave you a thumbs up I would like to congratulate for recently becoming an MMA fan. He DIDN'T have side control at first, he passed, look at Carlo's hand holding the foot allowing him to pass... watch it again. I'm not a troll, I just cannot stand the fans of this sport that talk out of their asses and have no clue on what they're talking about. If you don't know what you're talking about... then you shouldn't be a commenter.

  • @baffinjigger

not to mention you can use that kimura as a sweep if he doesn't react soon enough.

  • @baffinjigger

I'm with ya 100%. Anthemofadam is a noob tool.

  • @baffinjigger kid, i've been training in martial arts since I was 4. I'm 23, I have a black belt in tung soo do, 6 years of muay thai and 3 years of bjj under my belt. Theirs a reason people are agreeing with me, I know hat I'm talking about.

Yeah, he didn't have it at first, then he did. That changes nothing. The guy on the bottom was still going for the kimura while he was in side control. Stupid.

  • @anthemofadam Yeah yeah and I have a black belt in ass kan poo and face punch you, I feel that someone who put that much time in MMA (if you're telling the truth) could have dedicated a little more time to spelling, kid. Do I really need to get in detail about this? You're wrong so suck it up princess.

  • @baffinjigger werd!

  • @baffinjigger LOL i thought the exact same thing

  • @baffinjigger im not a fan of MMA, but who are you to judge the people and the love for this sport? who cares what they have to say as long as its not affecting you directly who gives a fuck.

  • @baffinjigger hi, i dunno what im commenting about and i am a commenter lol:P

  • @baffinjigger true true he shouldve let go of the kimura once his gaurd was passed though. It's understandable he didn't though I'm sure he got excited and tried to finish it thinking he could stop the fight early. Plus there is a lot of pressure in competition so it's understandable that he made that mistake.

  • @baffinjigger Yeah, I hate when people go on and on when they clearly don't know what they're talking about. Obviously Katsunaga had Newson in a Canadian Death Grip Face Bar, but didn't lock it in. That let Newberry float it into a Parisian Arabic Hulk Hogan Buster and then bridge to a Purple Nipple Bomber Lock. Kusanagi might have been able to get out of that, so it's a shame that he had to get himself disqualified for using an illegal knee slap. :/

  • @PhysalisGundam hilarious..

  • @PhysalisGundam hahahaha best comment ever

  • @PhysalisGundam are those the real names of the techniques???

  • @baffinjigger You could just calmly correct people, thereby both correcting and humbling them. I suppose you are frustrated by these types of comments, but there isn't much of a point in getting upset. Otherwise, you are letting those commenters elevate your blood-pressure.

  • @SweetZombiJesus You're right. Social media has done to me what it has done to many, become jaded and quick tempered. Although I hold true to my statement, lately I've been trying to calm it down a tad. I do love the fact I just noticed I have one more thumbs up than the other guys comment lol

  • @baffinjigger Yeah, just bask in your knowledge that you have a sharper eye than most and are better schooled in the subject. Play it cool :)

  • @baffinjigger Calm down.....It's just the steroids, man......It's just the steroids..... :P

  • @ninjacatmagic That sounds like indian talk to me

  • @anthemofadam nice try homie but that kimura was slapped on in his guard and than newton passed ftw

  • @anthemofadam ya he's right he wasn't trying to kimura him from side control newton was in gaurd and he passed it.

  • @BootyBot he had plenty of time to let the kimura go and go on the defensive after his guard was passed like he should have. He knew he didn't have guard anymore and was still going for the kimura, that was dumb and their is no denying that

  • matt hughes did that to GSP !

  • The textbook armbar, can never go wrong!

  • no offense to Carlos Newton because I think he's still underrated but the guy he beats here SUCKS he has more losses than wins

  • he just powered his way to that look at the difference in bulk

  • omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! must see

  • what!

  • dude tapped out in 2 seconds jesus christ

  • O.O

    TOTALLY OWNED!!!
