great song from a underappreciated group. I am trying to think of another song by the Charmers, featuring Buddy Johnson's Orchestra with the lyrics of By My Side. Was it bye bye darling? Please let me know if you can help
This is my first time ever hearing this and I must admit this is damn awesome!! Reminds me of "I walk alone" by the Vocaleers. Beautiful...love it! And do you have this Church on the hill that everyone is talking about cuz I'd love to hear it. Always up for new songs. Anyways take care and keep em comin.
EagerBoy59, what a T-E-R-R-I-F-I-C track here. thank you so much for the memories and the fun. tom d brick,nj.

OK, Ann Cole DID record Timely 1010 - Down In The Valley, b/w I'm So Proud Of You (1954, NOV?)
Then The Charmers again: The Church On The Hill, b/w Battle Axe on Timely 1011 :I:

I WAS WRONG - recorded in October 1954 by The Charmers:
Vikki Burgess, George Daniels, Eugene ‘Sonny’ Cooke, James Cooke, and Alfred Todman
Timely Records 1009, b/w The Mambo [probably = Ann Cole Records 10101]
Apollo Records soon bought out Timely, in 1955... sometime in summer? :I:

I had an original Central circa 1964, never came across any of their other songs. Is the picture one of an original or boot?

The Timely label is great. I think it had some kind of relationship with Luna. See my post for The Crystals on Luna.

this is great song. The Charmers, never heard a song by them, so this is a first in my ears!
