Sure it can handle the easy BC coastal winters, or even the wet snow of the Rockies- but ever try to drive it in Saskatchewan? Those pot holes will tear that plastic fascia clean off.
@onewheeldrive Really? Well.... that just shut me right up then! It is a beautiful car, I'm just used to my old steel Defender that all that plastic makes me nervous. That being said, if there were a diesel option I would be far more inclined to take a second look. But alas...
I own this exact car..well close..mine has the dark anthracite leather and inetgrated DVD players in the headrests..friggin' LOVE IT. My husband says it "is like a tank riding on a cloud".
The interesting thing about YouTube is you are communicating directly with the people who created these videos. So we're open to constructive criticism, which you have chosen not to offer.
We've been paid nothing. In fact, after a week with the XC70 we were out a fair amount of gas money before reaching our our conclusions and edited the video.
You don't have to agree with us, but at least be polite enough to respect the effort we've put into the video.
oromoto, that isn't weird. You are missing something.
If you had a large company that didn't make as good machines as a smaller, but better one, wouldn't you buy the smaller one and use its techniques in your cars?
Dude, we're three guys with a 600 dollar video camera who head out to play with other folks cars. I can't think of anything less serious. You might notice the tone of al this has our collective tongues planted firmly in cheek.
We thought 3.2L straight six really doesn't offer as much torque as we'd like to see in a car of this weight. It's not a top speed issue, so much as the ability to pass efficiently.
VW owns Audi, Lamborghini and Bugatti (and others); Fiat owns Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati; GM owns Opel and so on. It's a matter of economics and who is the bigger producer and willing to pay the money to buy and not which car is better.
I have driven this thing in Summit County, Colorado! This car really is SO AMAZING in the snow! Can't wait till they come out with the twin turbo in March!!
More a matter of torque than hp man, We're not top speed enthusiasts for the most part. We just felt the XC70 needed more usable power for passing and hills.
@christopher479 must not own a T6 then...transmissions are one of the worst ever put in a vehicle!

@lupischuckle Perhaps, though we have friends who live in Inuvik and use the XC70 as a year round commuter up and down the Dempster.

@lupischuckle Well, wasn't aiming to "shut you up", sorry if it came off harsh. I do agree that the plastics are a potential problem.

@onewheeldrive haha! No worries, I was more directing that towards my original, rather hasty, judgment of the car.

how about the subaru outback?
adrianrubi 2 years ago
the outback is not in the same class as the xc70... The Xc70 nearest rival is Audi A4 allroad or A6 allroad.. it´s a Premium car

God I must express the pleasure I felt for unlike in most of the other cars videos not reading heaps of useless meaningless stupid comments.
Volvo scores again.

Put some Nokian Hakka 2s on it, and that thing will go through anything.

You should have tested it with the D5 diesel engine, not the petrol engine.
boeingVSairbus 3 years ago 4
Unfortunately that wasn't an available option ere in Canada at the time of the test.

What?? now americans rewiew cars? From when??
You have no idea of what a corner is, and your cars have suspensions as modern as a donkey lorry... and you rewiews cars??
3,2 lt. not enough.. bah.. where do you want to go, if your highways permit at max 65 mph.??
Snowmobile.. you haven't certainly ever driven a proper car...

So you've driven the XC70 then?

So weird, if Volvo makes a better car how come an American company owns it?

235 hp not enough for what? "Speeding" with 65 MPH on the highway? Probably it gets a little less dynamic over 130..

I see, thanks for your reply! I wonder if there is a difference in terms of hp and torque between European and American models?
