  • Kristy McNichol was an exceptionally talented and popular dramatic actress...until "The Pirate Movie" came along. Her career needed the pumpin' & blowin' of artificial respiration after it came out.

  • LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Uh, I don't think I'd ever "have enough" "pumpin' and blowin'" with Christopher Atkins in this movie. Is that an adult diaper he's wearing though?

  • I was so happy when I found this on youtube. I was 13 when it came out and like so many others I watched it over and over again. I can't believe I remember I still remember all the words to the songs. It is still available on VHS on Amazon for like $3 if anyone is interested. I think I might order for my daughter to watch. LOL

  • I loved this movie. I think my sister and I watch it about a hundred times the summer it came out on video. I can still remember all the words to the songs.

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie! Thanks for putting this up. I could watch this movie for hours (and have!) and won't get sick of it. Nobody understands why I like this movie, but I can see from the comments that there are others that love it just as much!

  • love this song and movie. super

  • This is one of my all time favorite movies. I've see in hundreds of times and each time I would notice something going on in the background that I didn't see before. It is very smart and very silly at the same time. Yes, it needs a new rebirth!!!

  • I love this song despite the fact that it got a Razzie for 'Worst Original Song' that year. It's quite fun - but it's so cheesy that he's clearly not underwater. As if sand acts that way in the water - lol.

  • I don't know why this movie would be called a failure. Everyone I talk to loved it!! If anything it is definetly cute..and deserves a rebirth for this generation. Something sweet and innocent ahhhh those were the days!

Kristy and Chris..you both were great!! Love the movie and love you!!

  • You are so right proudlib! I was almost 13 when this came out. I remember seeing this with my older brothers in Carmel CA in the summer of 82. This along with Star Trek II, Tron and other greats made this a summer of great films and memories!

  • This is the most hilarious movie on the face of the earth! I totally agree with you. And if you ever take a look at my profile you may see that I like Mel Brooks. If you don't already know he is side splitting hilarious. I dont ALWAYS laugh during his movies. I n this movie I SPLIT MY SIDES. I never laugh. As for the "rebirth" It just aired on the Fox Movie Channel. If you mean a "remake" I want to do one! Unfortunately(i cant spel!) I am not famous OR old enough to pass for eightteen. Darn it!

  • What a flashback to my Junior High days! I loved this movie! :D

  • BEST. MOVIE, EVER...ha

  • She had to drop out of acting after she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I think she's an acting teacher now.

  • I remeber this movie being a lot of fun.

  • I thought I already commented on this movie last year....oh well here it goes again

  • I remember seeing the posters up in cinemas for this when I was a kid. I also remember it bombed at the box offic-critics bagged the crap out of it. Who cares it's cheesy as hell and I love it.

  • A guilty pleasure. I remember watching this as a kid and loving the movie.

  • Same.

  • you know that this movie got a few razzies for the worst movie, actress, actor, and songs.. for the confused.. razzies are awards given to the worst movies of the year.. this one got a few in 1985.

  • sorry i got the year wrong it was 1982.. pls 4give...

  • Christy McNichole was a TV star during this time (After School specials, mostly)

  • But not after this movie :P Definitely a "career killer" movie.

  • Actually, she spent several years after this was made playing Barbara on Empty Nest among other projects. In fact, according to IMDB, she didn't stop working on TV until around 98 when she dropped out of acting. She had some other films as well as shows too. So it didn't totally kill her career, probably didn't help it that much but definitely didn't kill it.

  • I want to snort what ever is in the Air thats being pumped into that helmet. Reigheous buzz dude! I'm seein shit!

  • YAY! I LOVE this!

  • THIS IS AWESOME

  • OMFG! I still remember the words.

    Bwahahaha.

  • It heavily referenced Blue Lagoon, not to mention the similar outfit worn by Christopher Atkins.

  • Great film, absolutely hilarious! it has been one of my favorites since I first saw it back in 1982.

  • Isn't that Christopher Atkins' outfit from "The Blue Lagoon"? Must have been, "Bring Your Own Wardrobe to the Set Day"

  • lov this movie

    lov this song

    can i get any clearer?

  • Does anyone else notice the song in this clip is a slower tempo to the australian dvd? the australian one sounds much better. great song though :P

  • just watched this last night and cant the song out of my head!

  • I KNOW I WATCHED IT TODAY ITS IN MY HEAD NOW!!!!! xD

  • Great movie...

  • Absolutely awesome.

  • Love the bass in this song. Who would have thought to intersperse catchy pop songs like this with songs from the original Gilbert & Sullivan operetta? Interesting gamble, but I think it paid off. (It helps if you like both kinds of music of course.) Thanks for posting.
