I think Vivien would have a field day with Beyonce and Vivienne and Liz Taylor look very much alike but both equally beautiful, fierce-dominat-cat like. I still have to say I prefer Marilyn only because she appears to have a softer more flirtatious and playful image than these women, charismatic, generous naive but not stupid. That is what made Marilyn special. And all the women WERE jealous of her and regarded her as "the mistress" because MArilyn could very easily take any woman's man
Um...WHAT? First off, u did NOT just mention Beyonce in the same sentense as Vivien Leigh. And no one was jealous of Marylin, she was one of the dumbest women ever, no man stayed with her for more than a week, she was very fucked in the head and a terrible actress. She was just hyped up to be a sex symbol, strip off all that makeup and dresses and u have a complitely average looking white girl. Liz Taylor and Vivien were women of STUNNING BEAUTY and 100% untouchable.
Marilyn was very obviously not stupid.Have you watched any of her interviews? She played it soft because she was an orphan and in desperate need to be loved, and accepted. And that is precisely why she got so much love. Only a woman with nothing to lose would dare be so openly vulnerable all the time. She risked it all, and she won. It's as simple as that.
And, natural beauty of not, truth is there never was an actress as heart-warmingly charismatic as Marilyn was. And probably never will be, since now women are forced to act like men to make their way in the world.
Are you sure Marilyn was receiving real LOVE from men?
Sorry but i am curious. I also tried to act vulnerable for a while just to see what would happen and guess what? I attracted a bunch of men who only eventually wanted to sleep with me.
I forgot what my comment was. lol. I know what you mean about acting vulnerable, but then, maybe you were doing it wrong. lol. there's a difference between physical vulnerability and emotional vulnerability. but, what exactly IS "real love", anyway?
If you ask me, Marilyn definitely got real love from some men, at least, because emotional vulnerability is necessary in any deep human connection. And she seemed very emotionally vulnerable.
After all, the difference between acting strong or weak lies in a person's deepest motivation. People who put their own well-being and personal ego above any other priority in life will always be the "stronger" ones. It is but logical..it's probably the main reason why I was never impressed by Leigh. She beams ego and selfishness both on and off screen. Marilyn might not have been the best actress, but she was deeply humane.
But I do know someone who is both intelligent and has a BIG heart. I don't know if you know her but she's Emmy Rossum, the girl who starred in the Phantom of the Opera and The Day After Tomorrow. As a female,I love her to death already and if I were a man,I'd love to meet her even though she gets too proudy at times and loves to show off everything abt herself.
@lazyisa Hun,they are not in the same league.Saw Rossum in Phantom-she cannot act and really struggled along.Vivian Leigh had the looks and incredible talent. She also suffered ill health, she was Bipolar long before it became fashionable and she had TB.
Um no. This has nothing to do with "vulnerability" she had an IQ of 0 and everyone who has worked with her couldnt stand her after a few days. Many directors also said that she had no idea what she was doing infront of the camera. I did watch her interviews, and theres NOTHING in those blank eyes of hers, she smiled and batted her lashes and thats ALL she knew how to do. She in fact WAS obviously VERY unintelligent and her past has nothing to do with it.
Maybe i had bad luck but if i were a man,i would definitely choose strong and intelligent women. I hope for someone to be at my level,i don't want a pet or a daughter.
Go check her out.Maybe u'll love her right away as many men do.She is a young and compassionate actress but we name her Ms Perfect cuz she is intelligent, strong and has big ambitions of helping the world. She's everything.
She is the kind that tries to strive a balance between her ego and other things.
You ever wonder what the celebs of today would exclaim if any one of the most gorgeous and classier women of this time period were to walk up to them and stand beside them?
Aawh! Vivien has red nails at 1:25! So many beautiful screen test of her!! [and you could see how she is "a woman of many faces" with all those Beautiful Beautiful screen test!!!]
Faults and evils....a beauty, damned by one role in a movie she wanted to own. She WON, and the lost the rest of her live. Was her madness before or after the movie.
We will never know. She will will never be lost nor forgotten. From her happy youth, to her sad death. I Love this woman.
A great success is a wonderful experience. True, it can make things difficult from then on, but so what ? I'm sure Vivien wouldn't have like it any other way...
she was so beautiful i guess she is whether she is! amazing actress person and yet sad her bi pola was almost devestating!-to her life and i guess those around her!
Yes indeed, she was incredibly beautiful. Feminine, talented, elegant and gracious. I consider her the best movie actress ever, and the choice is not easy, because there are many excellent ones. It is a pity that her life was so short. "tanguy200", thank you so much to you for all these great video clips & the music was quite right for her.
1961! I believe V behaved in pub. in sch a way that s cld fill in fr a constit. monarch at a drop/hat - more than able t disguise h feelings. This combd. w/ t fact that s ws a great beauty w/ unrivaled bone structure and so impossibly physically graceful, anyone present at t time in Atlanta would not have said s looked "sad".
Wishful thinking on my part? V would have gone out of h way not to command any sympathy whatsoever at those events, and I certainly think of V as "always hitting h mark"!
Great job! A great tribute for the new year! I love the footage from Making of a Legend. It's interesting, in the footage from 1960, Vivien isn't smiling very much. It's actually quite sad. 1960 wasn't an easy year for her.
One can understand why Jose Quintero hesitated to let her go. The Roman Spring of Mrs Stone, suddenly transformed into an American Autumn... Happy New Year !
You have to get as quickly as possible the documentary "The Making of a Legend", which is filled with behind the scenes footage of GWTW... Happy New Year !
Oh I just bought the GWTW special edition DVD! I watched the Olivia de Havilland documentary yesterday and didn't get to see the "Making of a Legend" yet, but I'll do that right now. Thanks and Happy New Year!
wasn't she just divine
