Elizabeth is such a beauty! Her understatedness, her determination, her slight rebelliousness to conforming to her mother. I think she embodies feminity. Even her accent is attractive.
@ellierulestheworld12 like AnahSkywalker said, Lizzy isn't meant to be a beauty, but its her personality & the fact that she doesn't give a damn about his wealth nor toady to him like Miss Bingley (Anna Chancellor's character) does that attracts Darcy. Just as he says in this scene, he considers her good opinion worth winning because he knows she is genuine in her praise, not trying to curry favour because he is rich.
My favorite scene, I think. Chink in the armour--enough for us to see, finally! Change, eagerness. He almost trips over himself to catch them. And then, he's SO wonderful with the Gardiners . . . maybe he hit his head on the bottom of the lake. :D The rear of Pemberley--from this scene-- is my desktop.
Awww you missed the best part at the end when Lizzy says "I can't imagine what affected this transformation" and her aunt look slyly at her and responds "can't you?"
i don't like thinking of it as a 'transformation' per se, rather he acts amiably when he is in his comfort zone, and becomes more reserved/ arrogant-looking when he out of it. I don't like thinking Elizabeth 'transformed' him, I don't like it when people change themselves for someone else's sake
@OpaleyedWolf -- I agree in theory, especially if the "change" was only on his side. But he changes her as much as vice versa. She realizes she's too quick to judge people, and he realizes that he acts arrogantly.
But it IS a change, because the Gardiners are some of the people he looks down on earlier for being "low connections", both in his first proposal and in the letter he writes to her. That's why Lizzy pointedly says "cheapside", thinking he'll turn cold (which he doesn't).
both the movie and this MINISERIES have their good points and differ b/c of dif. time constraints, money, intended audience etc. so i don't think it's fair to really compare them...though the book is still better then all of the adaptions :)
I've been there! It's very pretty. My mum and me spent hours wondering round outside going "so he came out here and then the camera moves and they go there..." We weren't the only ones either!
One of the wardens said that Colin had been there a few weeks ago (!!!!) but he'd brought his wife with him instead of Jennifer! Gutted.
this pride and prejudice mini series and the 2005 movie both have their ups and downs. I love Colin from this but I liked Kiera Knightly's acting better. Maybe these two should have been paired together hehe.
Can we really say he transformed? Or that he just opened up after knowing Lizzy better? Such rich characters... This book is races the bar so up high

Having a pad as fine as this one and an income of £10,000 a year back in the 18C would be enough to capture any girls heart.
I can mention certain Holywood stars ( Jack Nicholson) who is long past his sell by date but has some of the most glamourous women on his arm.
WHY? Money

I dislike this version of Elizabeth Bennet, I feel like she's a gold digger, haha. And she seems so fake to me.

cmon people this movie is great!
they had to squeeze everything into a 2 hour movie and still did a fantastic job.
the bbc version was brilliant too

I like Elizabeth's expression at 1:10. And earlier, when she and Darcy talk beside the carriage - it's wonderful.
