OMG one of the first few games that i played back when i was a kid, gotta admit i still love the music till now , games used to be brilliant regardless the gfx
HAHAHA love this game ... played this as a kid. Never did finish the damn thing. Some awesome villains later on ... the tall guy throwing basketballs (?)... the fat man u can't pick up and the guy on the motorbike! Love the music too. Always did wonder what those little dudes with the hats that dropped bombs were though??
Mirage or World Software( makers of Franko) seems to have just pinched the earlier original game.(Which copied/stole ideas from this version of bad street brawler)
There's a Polish Amiga game called Street Hassle that is virtually a hack/modified version of this game. Fighting old people and opponents who say 'brute' also appear in the Polish game.
Duke looks a lot more like a punk rocker in this version, but the yellow tights don't work. Hulk Hogan is probably the only person that has been able to pull off that look.
I wouldn't mind seeing a complete play through of this game, do you have it in you, EendjeKwak? If not, this is still an awesome video and I would have never even have known of this game if not for you, so thanks!
You're welcome. And no, I suck at this game. :) You are free to download DOSbox and a copy of this game (@ xtcabandonware com) and put a video online.
lol some of those moves are hilarious. It's too bad that Nintendo got rid of some of the chest splash, that seem more like a humping move.
The NES version is also missing that grumpy old lady who shouts "Brute!". Now I see where Who Framed Roger Rabbit, for the NES, most likely got its inspiration from.
she was replaced with acrobat midgets with ball and chains and the blind were replaced with punks with bats and mohawks. this dos original is better than the nes version.
I agree. ;) But, the answer is easy. The release of the game was in 1987, and they already made the game for several platforms like the Amiga, Commodore 64, DOS and the ZX Spectrum. According to the Wikipedia, it's "one of the earliest Beat 'em up or scrolling fighting games".
omfg, I miss this game, running around in yellow undies smashing dudes.

mmmm one of the best music in games !!
If you don't hurt the old lady, she won't touch you. But once you touch her, she turns against you for the entire game. Or something like that.

I didn't know that. :D

Did the other versions have more than 6 stages? the c64 one had either 6 or 9 stages.

@Dorinciobanu
Google the words "xtc abandonware" and click on the first hit. You also might need a copy of DOS-Box to let the game work.

@Dorinciobanu
By the way. With DOS-box you can record video's of game. :) PS: Ireland is cool!

Yeah, the DOS version definitely seems better overall, matttheman597. I don't know why the NES version had to be so dramatically altered.

There were also versions for the amiga and c64 that i recall. The game also went by the names street hassle and bop n rumble.
