I was there so can give you a spectators insight, Hardonk vs Sanchez was an awesome fight with a great knockout, you MUST see it! We had no idea about either point being taken from Nate marquart, that's why we boo'd so much, Jess Laudin was robbed by the judges and that Murgliatta referee is awful, just watch Kimbo vs James Thompson and tell me that he shouldn't have stopped that in the 2nd. It was a good UFC with tons of atmosphere (and mexican waves) but was let down by poor refs and judges.

I went to UFC 85, was a really good event. A few points:

-Swick/Davies highlight was the mexican wave in the crowd

-Dan Mirgi-erg-erly held up Jess' hand in victory instead of Paul Taylor

-Eddie Sanchez took TONS of shots to the head, was very funny to watch.

-Alves should fight one more guy before his title shot.

Hughes got hit in the shoulder/chest area, not to the head with the knee, at least form what I remember.

Marquart didn't hit him in the back of the head with his elbow either when the point was taken away.

I can't agree with you that Dan is a good ref. Two controversial stoppages in a week.

Kimbo/Thompson (He stood the fighters up shortly after Thompson secured side control early in the fight. Also in my opinion, won the fight at the end of the second when Kimbo failed to defend the elbows and did not attempt to work for a better position (a 'thumbs up' isn't convincing enough for me as a defense). Early stoppage in the 3rd.

Really, I could not believe what I was hearing when the PhatCritic said Dan was one of the best refs in the UFC. That's messed up. Dan is absolutely horrible.

Although the Phatcritic's commentary about Herb Dean was right. Herb does a good job at keeping fighters safe which is commendable. However, imo he has hurt fighters in other ways by not giving them a chance in certain cases. In Marquardt vs. Werdum he cost Marquadt the fight with those controversial point deductions.

i think jiu jitsu battles are better because there isnt any chance of head trauma but at the same time i have i had messed up ankles , knees , arms , shoulders , neck and rib injuries with praticing wrestling and jiu jitsu
