The noises Talos makes (schreeching and choking) along with the music of the film, along with the fact that Talos is huge and made of Bronze makes one tremendously epic scene. Loved it!!!
now why not put the release valve on his head where enemies can't get to it?
then again he deserved destruction, swings his giant sword 50 feet from the sailors, then waits around for someone to pull his plug, talos might have been suicidal...weakest monster attack ever.
On reflection, while the bit where he destroys the Argo is incredible, Talos is a bit disappointing in this scene. He makes one badly-aimed swing with his sword and takes a single step, then basically stands around while his only weakpoint is riped open. The only guy he actually kills is an idiot who he falls on after dying.
His bronze body was kept alive by an ichor contained in that single vein. When the nail is removed, Talos's ichor flows out, exsanguinating and killing him.
