what are u doing to ur poor car. no heall and toe not even matching the revs wen changing down. it sounds violated! letting off on corners u shud have it flatout on. at bout 3.30 ur talking about brakes being abused with 400 miles. theres no way you done 400 mile of this awsum ring and why use the brakes aat the speed ur doing?!?!?! heres a tip. buy granturismo....practice abit then go back and mek a deacent video instead of u driving to the shops like on this one! hot lap? not even luke warm.
@jamestz1989 The lines are correct, and it's neat. You thing you build on is your own confidence, and how much you're willing to gamble the road is safe ahead and commit to flat out blind corners.
Things like rev matched down-shifts can be learned off the track and then also be added in to the mix so you can brake later.
The important thing is knowing the track and getting the lines right first. Doesn't matter if it takes 4 laps or 400 if you have the money to do so.
nice try, but you need great skill to be able to use the advantages which the s2000 has over other production cars. unfortunately with the way you drive it looks like you're in an MX-5. don't be happy with 9:10, even morons can do 8:39 with the s2000 on that track. try to improve and good luck with that
I'm not at all surprised that they did 400 miles in laps. The lines the driver was taking were very good for being amateur. This track is arguably the hardest track. very good job!
Very poor downshifts, fairly good lines. Doesn't sound like you're keeping the revs in the power band though. All in all a rather good effort considering you're probably an amateur. I'd love to go to the ring in my s2k...

If you're such hot shit, why did you buy an S2000? A convertible is hardly the kind of car a racing truist purchases. No offense to the S2k, great car. I just don't like your comment.
What's that got to do with anything I wrote? The S2000 is a perfect car for a racing enthusiast, it's the essence of sports car motoring. And it can be used daily, looks good, fuel consumption is very low - what else could you want?
So what that it's a convertible, it was designed as one from the start. Driving with the hood down when the weather is right is a fantastic experience.
I agree with everything you said. But when you criticize one's driving on the longest and most difficult track in the world the implication is that you respect yourself as being much more than an "amateur" driver. If so, 0-60 in over 5 seconds and poor high-speed handling dynamics would not be a satisfying car. The S2000 simply put, IS an amateur car. A great car nonetheless. Strip out an E36 M3 or do some mods to a 993 Carrera for the same price and have a real race car.
You don't have to be a racing driver to notice bad shifts and wrong gears.. It's not a criticism, it's an OBSERVATION. Learn to distinguish the two, you're making a fuss out of nothing.
if the driver would lose couple of pounds it would shave off 5 seconds on the time, cuz s2k don't have a lto of torque to carry all that weight around, still nice driving in one of my dream cars
i wonder how the amuse s2000 would do on this track .... one thing i gotta do before i die is buy a s2000 fully tune it amuse style and then race on this track to beat the fastest public s2000 lap time
The bombbbb !!! FUCKING HATE IT ! All i do is dream and dream and dream and dream some more , when am i gone get the s2000 ??? i need 15,000euro's ! ( Hint hint ! ) Would kill for that sound
Unless YOU can actually do it, you're not in a position to call it slow. I'm not from Germany either, I've still been round Nur. And I've driven 2 s2000's, one stock, one with a comptech supercharger.
oh and btw...am a kart driver for like 12 years...i can tell if the car is pushed to limits or just gose fast..look at this guy in the corners he wont push the gas.... oh and btw my s2k is almost fully upgradated .. also it's THE JAPANISE version witch is MATCH more agresive and fast.... if u want to say somthing true about car then u better go read something...and btw the s2k get almost the grip of NSX !!!! NSX TEST DRIVER WAS SENNA GUSE HOW FAST THAT CAN GO !!!
You sound like a 12 year old on fantasy island bragging about a car which you clearly don't own...do yourself a favor and grab a napkin so that you can wipe off all the bullshit that's coming out of your mouth!
(said the 12 year old kid that couldn't spell correctly)...LOL, look who's talking...if anyone's posing it's you, with your bullshit claim that you're a kart driver and that you know how to tell a fast car from a slow one...LMAO...if you were truly a kart driver for 12 years, then you wouldn't be posting here talking out of your ass about something which you clearly have NO knowledge on.
Do a road trip, I drove across four countries to go round Nur. Either that or fly there, there are a few companies that'll rent you a track car. If you've enough cash for an s2k, I'm sure you can afford a holiday to Koblenz to go ring driving ;)
The video lap wasn't THAT fast as my car was brand new at the time. I am now down to about 8:50 BTG and about 140 MPH on the straights. Which is respectable.
Not a bad driver, you got he right idea. Just need to work on your rev matching to ease your clutch. Or do what my friend did and over rev his F20C and threw a rod. Nice vid man!
I'm the driver of the S2000 with the red leather. My car was new when this was taken.
Nice to hear the odd compliment and bloody hilarious to get ribbed by people who will probably never drive on the Ring in their lives, let alone beat 8.40 minutes bridge to gantry
why go to the ring with a 9,000 rp/m car when you can't change the gear quickly, and can't even heel and toe you moron. you americans are really really dumb. all bragging and no brains.
Heel and Toe and rev matching is not as hard as you say it is. I'm convinced that anyone can learn how to do it, given time. Do it every time you drive, and don't give up. NEVER SAY NEVER! Good luck, and have fun learning! :)
cont. from part 2 - The real deal has way too many bumps to upset the car's balance and a lot narrower and taller/steeper drops than you can EVER IMAGINE. The Europeans apparently knew a thing or 2 about this stuff we call racing that we Americans have no clue of. This Brit guy in the S2k may not know how to heel and toe, but I'll bet he can pass both you and I on that German track like we're both tied to a pole. BTW, name-calling and fwy racing is reserved for juvenile teenagers.
cont. from part 1- Before my visit to Germany, I thought nothing in the world beats Malibu in difficulty level-not even the Ring (I was convinced GT4 sim is exactly like the real deal, lol). Well, after my 2 hrs. of driving bliss on the Nordschleife on March 19, 2006 from 4-6pm, I was truly humbled. Cireous, possibly drove the Ring like I did, was right to a tee. (to be cont.)
(PART 1) Hello Mattmckenzies. I'm a Malibu Cyn Rds. regular on a 2-4 nights per week basis since 2002 (I'd be at the bottom of Tuna Cyn. 2-4 min. before anyone else can--my best time is 3 min. 40 sec. in an Elise and 4 min. 45 sec. in an AP1 S2000), but also visited the Nordshleife last year. (to be continued)
Yes, another internet pro. Even if you did own a 911 which I highly doubt you do. You would probably be scared shitless on the Ring, and even if you were to beat this S2000. Who cares? It's a much more expensive and more powerful car.
I like how everyone writes about how they could drive so much better than this guy. Heal and toe isn't as easy as it seems in the movies and shows you guys are watching on the internet. Neither is rev matching. Apparantly everyone is an expert on youtube. Remember this is a road car, I wouldn't be driving my own car to the limits at a race track.
Also, the Nurburgring is alot rougher than it appears in videos and in video games. Going 120+mph over bumps and crests is alot easier done digitally than in real life. Especially in a road car with very little downforce and street tires. But let me guess, everyone here is a Pro.
part 1 nice driving but like everyone else said I would heal and toe and you could of crushed that 9:10. also I noticed your kinda afraid around some turns I guess it might be because of not rev matching or just not knowing the track to much.
part 2 but its just got the stock f20c with the 9k red line 240 hp. but to wunthang its a flat 6 not v-6 he would of giving it a nice fight if he heal and toed but sounding american I would imagine he doesnt live there and race it everyday like that porsche driver(im assuming)and it would givin that porsche a good run cuz that porsche wasnt going that much faster
Yeah you're right, I can HEAR the drawned out climb in rpm's as the clutch re-engages instead of that sharp, distinct "blip" when heel&toe/rev-matching. Ouch, that's gotta hurt the clutch at such high RPM's. I''m amazed the guy didn't spin out while downshifting this way. His technique is what explains how he had to slow down noticeably before entering a corner, a shame really because he was hammering it coming out of the corner. Nevertheless a good piece of driving. Thumbs up! :-)
This video would have been so much better if the driver had double de clutched and matched revs on each down change, doing this wouldnt have required braking, balancing the car nicely with trailing throttle. He should have achieved a sub 9 min lap time. The Honda was a much better drive than the driver.
chappy48....you're an idiot it feels a lot faster in person. The ring is not a proper race track, you cant flat out in a stock road car like Hans Stuck.
sutatscom, I'm assuming you're in S2Ki...nice vid!
Either he's playing it safe, he's never run the Nurburgring before, or he isn't that good of a driver. But I'm sure he's having the time of his life and I'm jealous.
his rev matching skills are horrible
