Guys, to avoid overheatinf, put ur laptop on charger but take out the battery. It'll still run w/o the battery as long as it's on charger. That also helps you avoid overcharging your laptop battery

i think HP laptops are awesome but there is alot of maintainence (sorry i dont feel like spelling) required like battery,the charger, and a couple of other stuff but my hp laptop has no major problems

I do appreciate this info, we all understand you were making some mistakes on big words, slowing them down because most of us are human. I never thought of the hard drive creating so much heat under where you usually keep your hand though, interesting to decide with these factors.... the same with the battery life.

@thatUkrainianguy Thanks. Yes, my battery life has diminished drastically. It is around 30-40 mins now. But I don't have to worry about that now because I have a new desktop to do all of my videos on now. Look out for that review too!

@R3dWingProductions I have the exact same problem with my Hp. It always has to be into my computer and otherwise it shuts off. Here's what I do; get some electrical tape and tape the cable to the hard plastic jack and secure it. This bodge has lasted 3 months and it's still going strong.

hello i also have a same laptop like yours.do u know if they have recall on it or something???? because my laptop always shuts off on its own.. and for some reason i tried to reboot the laptop it wouldn't let me reboot it....it would just shut off when i try to reboot it..

@fullwithlove I've had problems with this laptop, its infamous for overheating issues. It usually shut offs when it gets hot. try blowing out the vents with some air might help a bit

Do you know if the dv4i is good also? I'm looking at it right now and I want to make sure it would be worth the buy... Because to me, 600 bucks is really expensive. I don't have a lot of money for this kind of stuff.

@gaaraanime5 It is really a new refreshment of this laptop. The battery life on this model is about 3- 3:30 hours depending on what you do.

i have the same god dam laptop and i hate it with a passion, the LEFT part of the laptop keyboard is ALWAYS HOT and whenever im at the library with this thing you can hear the fan running from a distance. what on earth is wrong with this laptop? any ideas on how to fix these problems? i just checked the temperature on this laptop and its running 201 degrees farenheight

It kind of depends on what you will use it for. The dv4 is more portable, but the dv5 has a larger screen. They both have about the same hardware options.

I want one of those so badly. Im stuck with a dumb mac. Who needs a mac when this is way better? It looks better and looks like a computer rather then a space ship. And it has Windows 7 and the macbook only has 2 usb ports I mean come on. Macs are getting worse! HP is really cool. Unless other wise.

hello, sir i just want to ask how to illuminate the keys of the play,stop forward and stop on the upper part of the dv4..i have a pavilion dv4 1435 and the lights on top wont illuminate,the only thing thats illuminating is the volume and WLAN and the mute.can someone help me how its done?thanks

I know on mine they all stay light all of the time. I think yours might be screwed up somehow. If anyone knows how to fix this please comment. I know if I open up my machine all of the way I can connect and disconnect one wire.

Yes to turn off the wifi there is a icon on the top right corner off the laptop just touch the icon till it turns orange and then it is off, to turn off the bluetooth you will probably have to turn it off in the control panel.

It does get a little hot but right now I am not even using a cooler, but if you are paranoid about it you can use one. So to really answer your question it doesn't get very hot if you prop it up just a little so the fan gets more air circulation.

This laptop performs very well. I am very pleased with this laptop. The CPU specs are Intel Centrino 2.0GHz dual core and GPU is Intel Mobile chip set 4500 with about 1700MB dedicated graphics.

The model of this one is dv4-1145GO, you might want to look at Best Buy because HP doesn't sell this model anymore because it is about six months old.
