Recently i received a lot of new $1 bling bling gold coins hehehehe. Initially they talked abt the shape of Singapore... but the thing is, we are having a lot of land reclamation during recent yrs... there's a concern
Singapore does have very complicated racial and cultural mixes. The majority population of chinese have many sub-groups: Hokkien, Cantonese, TeoChew, Hainanese, Hakka, Shanghainese, and other southern dialects. Recent years include immigrants from northern china. Malays have indigenous, arabs, indonesian, javanese, etc. Indians have northern and southern dialects, various castes, although tamil is majority. And within these races there are also religious differences. Really complicated.
taiwan only hokkien and hakka only already so problematic. sg got indian, malay and chinese. chinese got got different dialects, got hokkien, teochew, cantonese, hakka, hainanese and some other not so common dialects.
Does our finance minister really have to do that? Someone pls enlighten. Tharman Shanmugaratnam is our first non-chinese finance minister it'll b strange for him to oblige to this chinese superstition
I know for some reasons(due to land reclamation and new building), they have relocated/shifted the Merlion about 5 years ago. I took some pictures of the new Merlion too. Maybe the facing has changed. Interesting :)
Will look into that with my compass the next time i go back Singapore. Thanks!

Singapore Flyer changed its direction of turn, for Feng Shui's sake - as publicly stated on government newspaper.
What is not stated, but is in public domain, is that Singapore Flyer's majority shareholder is a government linked company!

The Merlion is facing South-east not North-east.
And Singapore on the map looks like a green crab.
forgetmenot168 3 years ago 4
The information of Merlion in talk show is acquired from publication of Singapore Tourism Bureau...

@forgetmenot168
Different interpretation.
Chinese geomancy may not have crab-shape interpretatipn.
