  • And yet it gets no-where near the age of the people it, the book purports to document. As well, as the book, the bible was supposedly created by god, why is it written by men?

  • I do not understand what you mean by 'Catholic' Bible. The Codex Sinaiticus was not created by Rpman Catholics because they didn't exist at that time! Or do you just mean non-Protestant?

  • Accepting a Catholic-manufactured 'bible' is sheer folly.

  • Everyone makes these claims that this is the oldest, ours is correct, jesus wanst the messiah, mt. Sinai isn't there its here. And all of us miss the point. The devil has won our souls because we fight over what is and was, but we should focus on the love it all means. Why does it matter what he looked like or his real name. The purpose is eternal life. What's so bad about that? Prasie God!

  • Codex Sinaiticus survived undiscovered in a remote monastery, was found in 1861 by constantine Von Tischendorf. These are the corrupted writings from the gnostic Alexandrian cult of that time. Best to trust in the older Byzantine texts of Antioch where people were first called Christians, not some obscure monks discarded writings from off a mountain so called Sinai by Catherine, wife of Fourth Century Constantine, look up The Real Mount Sinai, which is found in or near Saudi Arabia Gal.4:25.

  • (1 Timothy 3:16) Indeed, the sacred secret of this godly devotion is admittedly great: ‘He was made manifest in flesh, was declared righteous in spirit, appeared to angels, was preached about among nations, was believed upon in [the] world, was received up in glory.’ -NWT

look this verseup in codex sinaiticus

  • Is not the Didache Bible the oldest ???

  • Only one Mount Sinai fits the criteria of being authentic,an honest archaeological investigation will disclose that to the unbiased. Pharaoh's army relics encrusted with coral in thedepths at the most convenient crossing location.

  • Mount Sinai is not in Egypt it was actually found to be in Saudi Arabia,Galatians 4:2.5.Paran a small moshav (settlement) in The Arabah Valley of what is now the southern part of Israel, Jabal al Lawz, where Moses received The Ten Commandments.

  • @TheAgateman1

There are at least four locations that people claim are the biblical Mount Sinai. One of them is in Egypt on the Sinai Peninsula and is currently called Mount Sinai. Another is northwest Saudi Arabia.

  • The arguments here are just as Jesus said... They strain their face for a nat but swallow a camel.

  • Now that you have a duplicate copy, why would the British Library not return the original to St. Catherine's?

  • The ROS Text found in the Himalayan mountains in 2000 AD is the oldest complete text of the 77books written in AbraUW or Paleo Language The New Testament written by MathithYahUW 130 years older than the codex sanaticus

  • @phattracs Who is MathithYahUW? Matthew.....the apostle? If so, what time period are you claiming that he compiled The New Testament? It was a gentile gnostic named Marcion who compiled the ORIGINAL "new" testament!

  • Comment removed

  • @OVtigerstripe You have to understand that the word of Yah is forever settled in the in the ShamiYaim/heavens and that all of the prophets and apostles have Abbas name. The names have meaning, MathithYahUW/Mathew (Disciples of Yahuw, YermeYahUW/Jeremiah (The resurrection is YahUW. NO the Original words all of them were written in AbraYA/Hebrew and Translied by uninspired uncalled men. Men corrupt the word. Example Jesus (hail zeus) invented by the Catholic Jesuits. See OriginalscritpuresDot com

  • JESUS CHRIST IS KING AND THE ONLY LIVING GOD!!!

  • @hb9791 Not according to the original scriptures!!!!

  • We have commented on the issue of why we don't believe that wearing gloves is good before. Have you ever tried to read a book wearing gloves? You see how easy it is to turn pages without damaging them...

  • Why is he not wearing gloves? Not too bright.

  • He should be wearing gloves when touching those pages

  • @LIVERLADD We disagree about that. Wearing gloves can cause greater damage.

  • @britishlibrary You keep saying that, but you need to explain why you are saying this, because it is a known fact that the oil from the human hands will corrupt the pages.

So, please tell us why you disagree. What do you clean your hands with in order to stop the oil from staining the pages?

  • @ChristEnduredForMe Have you ever tried to turn the pages of a book wearing gloves? Not only is it very difficult to do delicately but gloves also contain fibres that can damage paper and vellum

  • @ChristEnduredForMe stop arguing about gloves.

  • @LIVERLADD we disagree - wearing gloves can cause more damage

  • @britishlibrary But what of the sweat on his fingers? They use gloves in looking through old books in programs I have seen

  • @britishlibrary Yes agree 100%

  • @britishlibrary, we need specially made gloves or a least a special type of tweezer to look at it :D

  • @LIVERLADD

there are better books to save anyway

  • This is very exciting. Can't wait to see it ONLINE.

  • @Sarah01181225 it is already on internet right now.

  • @Lee7676 It is? Thanks.

  • @Sarah01181225 but they dont have English translations.only they put original codex sinaiticus. it is very hard to make translation based on codex sinaiticus.because this codex have so many corrections and altertions,it is very difficult to find out which reading is from original scribe and later correctors.

also amazon.com will publish this book on november this year.i have codex leningrad, and if i have money,i will buy codex sinaiticus.$500.00

  • @Sarah01181225 codex sinaiticus omit mark 16:9 to 16:20

john 7:53-8:11 and other verses as well.codex vaticanus have better readings than codex sinaiticus because codex S omitted so many words or even sentences.but codex B dont have revelation so scholars had to rely on codex alexandrinus for the text of revelation of john.

  • Oldest "complete" maybe, but, you do forget about the dead sea scrolls.

  • @jtweb123 We've certainly not forgotten about them, it's just that this video is about the Codex Sinaiticus (incl. New Testament) and not the Dead Sea Scrolls!

  • Why is he not wearing protective gloves??? I hope to become a conservationist. Touching a manuscript this delicate and this old should not be touched with bare hands.

  • @jaynekw We disagree about that. Wearing gloves can cause greater damage.

  • These people have too much to hide and are not truthful. OBADIAH 1: 1 -

  • Jesus Christ as returned. I AM.

  • @IAMJESUSmovie And your point is? It's like jumping into a discussion on Belgian atrocities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and posting the message 'Coldplay and Brian Adams refuse to let "Glee" use their songs'. If your Christian messiah did arrive the first thing they probably do is preach against an oppressive, corrupt church and the organised religion behind it. Fascinating document, very different from KJV ... you kind of wonder why they'd make so many changes!

  • Is there a modern translation available? The only one I can find is from 1861.

  • To be clear: this is the oldest known 'complete' copy of the New Testament. It was written in the fourth century. Nearly half of the pages have been lost over the centuries. The others are scattered between different institutions. No text has been obscured by tissue paper. Essential repairs are made but the text is clear.

  • the oldest bible is the ethoipian bible and the ethopians were the first orthodox do your research they even have a picture of it on u tube and the first page of the bible tells you the strong history of ethopia aka kush genesis 2:13 king james version which is european and the european basiclly the modern day greek roman kazar etc.

  • @stickloc No. Give us an approximate year. This one dates to the 400's. Not sure which part. The Ethiopian one can't be the oldest Bible unless it contains the ORIGINAL "new" testament as compiled by Marcion, which dates to 180 C.E. or possibly a little earlier.

  • don't you mean a lie from the Devil?

  • GLORY TO THE LORD GLORY TO THE ORTHODOXY

finally heretics will see that the orthodoxy is the only truth religion the truth WAY and orthodoxy (right way)

is the only way to heaven

orthodox dogma is the right one

not any1 not catholics not any other way

    only orthodoxy

the orthodox bible is the same like codex sinaiticus peoples will see that is truth what i`m telling you

codex sinainticus have 151 psalms...like orthodox biblie

    and many other things

  • Hi, I am an Orthodox Christian, and according to my knowledge Codex Sinaticus does not have "in heaven there are three that bear record, father, word, and the holy ghost, and these three are one 1 John 5:7-8", in my apologetics I defend that as an INTERPRETATION rather than an "Interpoloation" so would you happen to be knowledgeable about these issues? That and Mark 16:9-20, these things kind of knocked me off guard, but I think my faith is kindof recovering. What is your level of knowledege?

  • hi

    about this problem

the have only 800 pages but is not all pages alof of them missing not like this guy says at description

i saw codex with my eyes is in london :D

  • @BurnAllLiberals

The translations I read of 1 John 5:7-8 read

7For there are three that testify: 8the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.

There's a big difference between "Spirit, water and blood" and "father, word, and holy ghost."

  • @tifforo1 Yes, I am aware of that, I don't think a "big" difference, but I am aware of the fact that an INTERPRETATIVE Marginal Gloss has managed to slip in the divinely inspired text. There are a good others, such as Mark 16:9-20, and John 7:53-8:11, they are still all inspired and equal word of God as well, but they are not in the earlier text,, it just goes to show you, that you can't seperate book from tradition,

  • @BurnAllLiberals As you state, they were not in the original "new" testament as compiled by Marcion of the earliest writings about Yeshuah. They appear later because they are fabrications. The earliest believers DID NOT BELIEVE that his death had ANYTHING to do with salvation!! Fabrication=NOT inspired by G_d!!

  • @tifforo1 Yes, this is what it originally said. The other version(s) are fabrications of the Western Roman Church.

  • I believe the Bible is the innerrant word of God. It is just many clergy are errant. I did a study of Psalm 119 and as a side topic I researched into my Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible to see who it evolved sinde the Old Testament. I read that they complied the books of the Bible into the Bible we now have around 200 AD. And like opn your webwite they invented the bound book and the bound Bible around 300 AD. Every word of God is true.

  • @Big5XL

When the original manuscripts differ, how do you know which version is the "inerrant" one?

  • @tifforo1 There is no original ms. these are only copies, the only way we would ever know if the bible is authentic or not, is to know from where it comes from, i.e. THE CHURCH, and so, we would know through TRADITION, so we need to look at all the ancient sources, the ancient commentaries, citations and etc., just like these scholars do, and BTW there is no ONE inerrant version, there are VARIANTS, they are like different borders that surround the word of God.

  • well take care when you shelve it in the fiction section

  • why is the Evian roller babies ad listed under "Related Video?"

  • Seems all of you bible tumpers are missing a few pages... in mind and book.

  • actually a lot of it was found about 50 years ago...google dead sea scrolls

  • why were they interviewed on fake background

  • Producers sometimes fail too.

  • It's amazing to have such an old piece of literature still intact such as this, bible or not it's amazing how well it's been preserved.

  • thats amazing =]]

  • Yeah, if there is a heaven he wants it to be populated with undereducated ignorant hateful people such as yourself. You and everyone like yourself can keep your religion to yourself.

  • I'm not that religious but I do believe there's a God. I also hate people that try to force religion on lost souls, like the Jehova witness when they come knocking on my door at 10 AM on a Saturday. I'm a good person I just hate when people talk shit about God, like seriously why do people insult someone they don't believe in?????

  • lmao thats what i think about too

  • to bad its all fake

    jk

    the bible is real

    lol

  • not very funny, dude.

  • wow... too many trolls writing in comments

  • Just imagine what an original 4th century Greek Codex writer would think he if could somehow watch this video.

Makes me wonder how we'll be communicating in year 3535. If man is still alive :)

  • cooperzee, I think in the future we will probably communicate telepathically, (mind to mind) just not sure exactly when but sometime in the future.

  • I like how you think big tanrat7.

telepathy seems so implausable to us now, but certainly a worldwide instantaneous data-fountain would've seemed equally implausable to that 4th century greek writer.

  • yes thats a good comparison

  • only people who have never heard of sex make money taking care of a fictional book.

  • awesome to think its written all by hand

  • I forget what church it was. Probably catholic. But monks used to write bibles all day everyday for years. All by hand and it had to be in a very ornate style.

It is insane to think of half the things people devote their life to.

  • good one

  • Hey guys Jesus loves you and died for all your sins

  • I <3 books made of fail.

  • The "Pearl of Great Price" has part of the Book of Moses with the testimony of Enoch, God said was taken out by evil men. Commandments and the name Jesus Christ were known in the time of Adam and they were to pray to God for forgiveness of their sins in the name of Jesus Christ...There is also a book of Abraham there detailing his travels from Ur and to Egypt and his priesthood, could be the missing part?. Joseph Smith was given more of Isaiah 29 about a book to come forth in appointed time.

  • Aren't they always

  • Clean, dry hands are best.

  • It has been shown that the warmth created by wearing gloves can stimulate sweat gland production. The wearing of gloves can also contribute to surface abrasion, loss of ink and pigments, and can also desensitise the user, heightening the risk of damage as the hands are less dextrous when gloved.

Our primary concern is that our items are handled carefully by people who have clean, dry hands.

  • Good question. What's up with that? Also I was wondering why that lady says they didn't obscure any of the text AS they are showing someone obscuring the text with the tissue paper?
