  • Major nostalgia...

  • @ThePatriot029 Amen brother

  • The voice over really gives it some dignity dosent it?

  • @1simo93521 James Earl Jones could voice a narration to The Jersey Shore and give it dramatic credentials, that's how epic his voice is.

  • @PTKilowatt That's not James Earl Jones' voice in colony wars

  • Loved this game. It's the only space shooter I've ever completely beaten, including the very cool "best" ending. The level that always pissed me off was the one when you had to use EMP weapons only (some kind of funeral event, I believe).

  • 1:04 - Torpedo on a fighter huh? That's just showing off.

  • @Tirranek acutally that was a Motion Missile, its a small orb like missile the tracks an enemy faster the more they move. Man I feel so old knowing all this years and years after this game came out... lol

  • uncle fill......

  • "The Tsar and this battlefleets, saw everything, knew everything, PUNISH everything" epic XD

its like with Caesar veni vidi vici (i came, i saw and i vainquish).

Good memory :D thx for the video

  • I would love to make this into a movie. We need a new STAR TREK or STAR WARS for this new era! Enough with the remakes...something with substance! I loved this game to the end:)

  • @howardmills81 this would actually make a sick movie. it would be hard tho because it wasn't just one story it was like story's there were different paths so.... but still any of of the parts would be awesome.

  • Colony Wars was the first game I ever played, it got me into gaming!

  • First 2 Colony Wars game were good but Colony Wars Red Sun vas rubbish

  • Best PS1 title EVER!

  • Amazing game. Why don't they make another PS3 sequel?

  • James Earl Jones?

  • @MangoBastard Actually it was a sound alike. No doubt they wanted us to think it was Jones to help promote the game.

  • @MangoBastard I've been wondering for over 14 years now......

  • one of my favorite ps1 game, colony wars 2 was shittier imo

  • "Devalued artists lined up. Reason to believe."

  • James Earl Jones as narrator, fucking awesome.

  • @Fr0st1989 That's not James Earl Jones. The guy's name is Burt Caesar.

  • Its in its infant stages now, and just to let others know, i've taken the step of creating a 'resurrect colony wars' group on FB. So...if anyone is interested in joining, hehe. I've never started a group before, so excuse its terribleness.

  • @Megaloryan excuse me how about G Police? so unique to be awesome in the xbox/ps3 if it happened

  • This video probably has the best transcribed audio on youtube.

  • @xXCPDaBeastXx 'When I was very young, the artist employer controlled the stars.' You're so, so right.

  • @xXCPDaBeastXx First one, without a doubt.

  • Hey all. I am stacking up playstation games. Not as a collector per c but good games for ps1. Wich of the three Colony wars game is the best?

  • @Galimah This is ofcourse going to be a bias suggestion, but my favourite is the first installment, Colony Wars.

For me it had a superb storyline, colourful cinematic graphics, great sound and exquisite space orchestra battle music. All culminated in the best PS1 game i've owned, it simply oozes atmosphere.

  • 1 guy is a navy pilot

  • When I was very young, the allies and their Air force ruled the skies. The President and his battle fleet saw everything, knew everything, punished everything.

We never imagined there could be another way, but then the real shock and awe began...

    Kind of a universal story.

  • This was just an amazing Game.

  • First game I brought when I first got my PS1 great game.

  • Wow this is the only existing videogame known to mankind, where the german dubbing in the videos is better than the original one.

This one doesn't give me the creeps :)

  • Wow. The Father is ripped.

  • Sooo nostalgic. Want more Colony Wars!

  • This was the first ps1 game I bought, man this game rocked for me it was one of the best games every until ps2 came out. ps3 just does not do it for me.

  • yes...loved this game

  • "Veteruns of the League of Free Wuhlds!"

  • @Henners1991 bunch of terrorist! w the earth empire

    w colony wars vengeance

  • After watching the latest Halo Reach gameplay. I am soooo dying for a new Colony Wars.

  • I still have this. all three games in fact

  • "Saw everything, knew everything, punished everything..."

    Fantastic line.

  • holy shit, James Earl Jones rules

  • I love it... the narration sounds like a bad japanese to english translation... Even tho the developer was from the uk... (i think)

  • Ive been trying to find out what the hell the game was that i randomly rented off of blockbuster when i was just a little kid, and now ive finally found it.

  • Its says on the website Kron is the Fathers number one General, the leader of Sol in Colony Wars vengeance. I always wondered wether the narrator was Kron, but I don't think it is?

  • @Nic01224 The narater is you the player pilot more or less.

  • @Nic01224 Kron was not the Father's general, but a very well known yet uncontrollable pilot. He is the pilot that breaks formation and shoots down a Navy fighter in the Draco 'win' animation. Mehrtens says he was a liability to the League and shot down- presumably in the final mission against the Super Titan, and by a League strike cannon. Since the League failed to beat the Sol system anyway, Kron must have thought it was all worthless .

  • @SantomPh oh shut up, overkill...

  • I love this game.

Best James Earl Jones impression EVER!

  • Spanish intro was different, and better. I dont remember like this

  • Christmas Day 1998

  • ahh colony ways, Back when story-line mattered in a game and not just graphics and what name is slapped onto it. still have my Copy of this game from the mid 90's

  • And it gave our Leader, the FATHER, some REASON to beLIEVE in tha FUCHAH!

Hehe, I love his accent, the music, the words, it's just perfect.

  • Great game, would be great to see this on the new consoles.

Also think it would make a great film!!!

  • 100%

  • Great game and I actually enjoyed the follow-ups too. Psygnosis games were always great for me. I fondly remember G-Police and Wipeout as well.

  • BEST GAME EVER!!! (for me, anyway)

  • RIP james earl jones

  • Did I miss something?

First off I don't think this is James Earl Jones in this game, but secondly I am pretty sure he is not dead.

  • @fel121

James Earl Jones isn't dead. But, yes that is him doing voice work for CW1. Classic game. Great production value, awesome music. Probably some to the best Sci Fi game music you'll ever hear composed.

  • @xavieramont he's not dead, is he?

  • I personally liked this one the most out of all 3 games. I think they spent more time enriching the gameplay quality than they did in the latter 2 games. The musical score was very well executed as well.

#2 I didn't like because you had to play as the Navy (Just couldn't get over my hatred of those bastards), but I will say this for #3 - the story-telling did improve tremendously - but it threw me because it didn't have practically anything to do with the conflict between the Navy and League.

  • I remember when i got a playstation when i was 15 or 14 and i got this with it, i knew it was a space combat game and was familiar with them because i had played x-wing and tie fighter, i hadnt even gotten halfway thought this intro and i just had goosebumps! music and everything was just amazing.

    Modern UPDATE IN HD NOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • music made the game 4 me. where can i get the soundtrack

  • Takes away the magic. :)

  • holy crap darth vader talking

  • Comment removed

  • What made the series great was how in Colony wars you were a freedom fighter, fighting against a superior and fascist enenmy, and in Vengeance you were misguided and believed you were the good guy, and for such a old game they managed to manipulate the story very well

  • I had this game when I was a kid. It is still simply the best game ever made, in my humble opinion. I loved how it didn't follow the old you lost the mission try again deal. It let you truly change the story.

  • "There are so many ways a war can turn; each mission makes a difference."

Whenever you fail a mission, you are usually sent on a more troublesome one - not only in game terms, but in context of the setting (e.g. that one Alpha Centauri system mission where you have to terminate a civilian convoy simply because TRAITORS.)

The way your actions decide the course of the game, and the war, truly strikes me as awesome.

  • Good luck finding one that works lol.. i still have all three, they have their original cases, but the disks have some damage due to use.. i wish they would make another one.. would look so nice on the PS3

  • This was my first ps1 game and i loved it. I still have it but my ps2 wont read the disk because of the over usage. Maybe i should buy it again

  • I remember being blown away by this intro and thinking "how can they ever better this?"...and in a way nobody has.

  • this was such a freakin awesome game... same with its sequels

  • We need a modern remake of this game NOW!!!!!

  • This intro makes me go "WE'RE GONNA FREE THE SHIT OUT OF YOU"

Timeless. I remember watching this as a kid, t'was epic.

  • Frickin Awesome

  • Sony, I know you're listening...

What you gotta do is remake the original game with more missions and ships. THEN, go on a do a proper sequel.

Long live the League of Free Worlds!

  • We need more Colony Wars. Sony? Make it happen.

  • Seriously! If they redid this game, word for word, mission for mission, content for content and in 1080p I would have an actual reason to buy a PS3.

  • Remake? No.

    Sequel? Hell yes.

  • @asm2750 Same here.

  • @asm2750 Correct..... Absolutely no doubt.

  • @asm2750 pynosis, the company that made this game is no more.

  • @asm2750 Do note that PS3´s use blue-ray=could fit a shitton more mission & stuff to the game disc (and no more swapping discs my god i hated that)

  • @asm2750 I'd have an orgasm.

  • @asm2750 i know right! they should also make a metal gear solid 1 remake and remakes of all ps1 games to ps3 ,i miss the 90's and early 2000's ..what better way to sooth nostalgia then to remake these games into present day games.

  • @PEEWEEK707 MGS was remade for Gamecube (Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes), so you won't see that. But some games could use a remake. This game might actually bring back space sims if it was given a graphical overhaul and maybe tweak the script for the better. To me this is sounding a bit like Star Wars without Jedi, the Emperor or the Force. Just my opini7 years ago.on though. I love this game, I still haven't given it back to my friend who loaned it to me 7 years ago. >:D

  • @SageofTalos lol dam 7 years and u havent given it back ,lol u should just buy it off of him.

  • @PEEWEEK707 nterstingly enough he seems to have forgotten that he even owned it. XD

  • @SageofTalos lol you should tell him, or remind him one of these days, i mean if you borrowed it in 2002 haha i was like 5 or 6 at that time lol i had my good old freind ps1 wich i still have today..... i was so intruiged into the colony wars story even at the time i was like 5 or 6

  • @PEEWEEK707 He no longer has a Playstation of any kind so he's outa luck >:D. But yea, the story really was kinda cool but it could use a bit more back story that DIDN'T sound like a Forceless, Evil Emperorless starwars.

  • @SageofTalos lol i know right! it would be soo cool if they made a movie about this plot or based on this plot in colony wars

  • @SageofTalos had a emperor called the tzar

  • @sword4005 yup

  • @asm2750 If they threw in a redone Final Fantasy VII as well, I would probably purchase one.

  • I LOVED this game

  • WOW!! i loved this game when i was young... finally i found it/well atleast the name :P :P :) :D

  • damn they should so redo this for pc now a days!

if they made an Eve online / colony wars cross that would be awsum!

  • agreed i'd love colony wars to be an MMO. I'd side with the Colonial Navy!!! FUCK THE LEAGUE TERRORISTS!

  • this is a cool game.

  • This is without question James earl jones voice although Its credited not being him. I think there was either an error in the credits, or mr. jones may have been contracted at the time and could not use his name for legal reasons.

    But it is his voice.

  • It's Tay Zonday.

  • lol

  • This was the best game graphics wise for ps1

  • I still can't believe they didn't make a Colony Wars sequel for PS2

  • I know what you mean. I have all 3 games, and I still wish they would comeo ut with one for the PS2.

  • I love this game...

  • One of the best space battle games in the history, I love´t

  • *Insert net fad at 0:33* What The Fuck...*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM* Ahhahahahah Muhahahahahahaha....

  • One of my all time fav games, brings back great memories.

  • James Earl Jones? Is that you?

  • when i first got the psx, it came with this game as a demo(1st mission). going from the genisis to the psx was a shock to me because i never thought games could get that good. That demo game along with the armored core demo blew me away. now i still have all the colony wars games and armored core series.

  • Sorry, but this sounds tinny and childish compared to the Colony Wars: Vengeance intro.

  • nah, I disagree, the cut scenes and intro are far inferior on vengence. Which is more hollow imo.

  • both vengeance and colony wars 1 had awesome story lines. Not only was it an action packed video game but the story line had emotion. The cut scenes gave you a feel of the depression of war. The sadness of it. I think mertens did a great job giving you a feel of how the pilots felt in the war.

  • The battle briefings and debriefings where absolutely amazing in this game.

  • MAN...this game really IS fantastic and one of the best games ever!!!! Even now, after some years I can´t believe that it runs on PSX...Graphic, sound and music is AMAZING... I can´t forget those explosions...really unbelievable...PSYGNOSIS RULEZ

  • I loveeeeeeeeeed this game and really want the soundtrack it had the most awesome music. I use to just try and listen to the music alone lol..

  • Aw man, one of my favorite PSX games of all time. Awesome awesome stuff!

  • I loved the way the capital ships blew up.

    btw

Does anyone know how to get the soundtrack to this game?

  • Yes.

Search for PSX Multi Converter in Google, and using that program you can obtain the music files.

But theres some strange discrepancies due to the way the music is joined. You sometimes get 2 songs per track. And odd things occur, such as half a melody at the end of a file, even though you can hear the full thing in game.

But most of it is there.

  • I loved this game's play, plot, music, and voice acting.

  • James Earl Jones totally made this game.

  • Shame he didn't use his actual name.

  • That's because it ISN'T him; it's an impersonator. A very good one. There was a whole discussion about this back in the day.

  • If it is. Lucasarts needs him badly.

  • Lol why? Are they planning to recast Darth Vader?

  • I remember at the time of this game's release, the same guy did continuity trails for the BBC.Like the voice of God!

  • the music is so amazing

  • Psygnosis made excellent games, all that can be said. Although they may not have been the most popular, they shouldve due to the sheer quality of their work. I mean G-Police's atmosphere, with the fighters going down in flames :P

  • Ahh, i remember this game. i was like 9 or 10 when i last played it, i was up to the super titan level but i never finished it. im gonna get out my PS1 and finish it rite now

  • I loved the way the first two had their own unique feel. In first your a freedom fighting league pilot in a democratic fleet. In the second your a mentally conflicted pilot thats kept in the dark about the truth of things while serving a totallitarian fleet.

  • god I love the music to this game. Does anyone know where to find it?

  • This brings back some memories. My very first outer space game I ever had. I loved it, also loved the second one. The first two in my opinion had a great story. A decent remake of these games would be epic.

  • I have the 3rd game,i remember sitting for hours on end kicking the ass of the colonial navy and the league of free worlds. Such good memories...You know...Im gonna get my old PS1 and play Colony Wars III:Red Sun

  • Man, this vid brings back memories. I loved the first two CW games. It had my personal favorite control scheme for a flight sim. It's too bad this game is kinda obscure now.

I just have one question. Who was the voice actor for the cutscenes? Kinda sounded like James Earl Jones or something.

  • they need to remake all three of these games!

  • I still have all three games. Play them on occasion as well. And yes, I've beaten the S.T. without cheating. The trick is to stay mobile and at the extreme range of your weaponry. You're less likely to get hit this way. I too wish a remake could be made. But with no changes, just updated graphics.

  • I had this game for 8 years and I've beat the super titan without cheating.

  • I don't believe you.

  • i remember playing that when i was 7 lol climb up on the shelf my dad put the game and play it until he came home lol, awesome game tbf

  • i got all colony wars

  • Unfortunatly, they can't. I'm fairly sure Pyognis or whoever they're name is spelt disbanded. :(

  • It was actually renamed Sony Studio Liverpool by Sony, which had "acquired" Psygnosis in '93.

  • the first colony war game was the best game i ever played. i actually felt connected to that game.they need to remake it for ps3 or xbox

  • I know exactly what you mean about feeling connected to it.

  • exactly mate colony wars was ace... what about G Police as well. Those games should be remade and put out imagine what someone could do with the power of the 360. Too bad Psognis disbanded

  • awesome game intro made my hairs stand up! and is it me or did they pick a guy who sounded like james earl jones to narrate on a purpose?

PULL YOUR FINGER OUT SONY AND MAKE A COLONY WARS FOR PS3!!!!!!!!!!

  • this game was awesome, they should well make another one for the 360 or ps3

  • I always loved the way colony wars had so many results. there was never a "Game over" part - there was always something to the end. I remember when I was a noob and just ended up with the super titan blowing us all away.

  • haha

  • OMG wheres the Final ending?? The one where you beat the whole game without messing up a mission?

  • I've watched - I've got the game. I can't do it without cheating though (the last mission where you have to destroy the super titan.

  • I loved this game it was great how it had the branching system which mean that failing a mission didn't mean you had to start that mission all over again.

  • Vengence had an even better opening movie. Thanks for the video.

  • LONG LIVE THE LEAGUE OF FREE WORLDS!

  • I'll be putting on the second disc cut scenes this week. Then if I can find my CW: Vengence disc I'll put those on as well in the future.

  • This is one of my best psx game.

  • Please do.

  • I have all of the videos extracted from the game, I might post all of them.

  • Do you have the Colony Commercial? The one with the little girl pulling pedals from a flower? Thats the one I want to see again. :( BTW thanks for posting this.

  • I actually have that commercial on a tape from like 1997!. I always wondered if anyone else ever saw it

  • Colony Wars was such a great game - surprising, looking back, at just how good the "primative" PS1 was....
