Soon oh soon the light Pass within and soothe the endless night And wait here for you Our reason to be here Soon oh soon the time All we move to gain will reach and calm Our heart is open Our reason to be here Long ago, set into rhyme Soon oh soon the light Ours to shape for all time, ours the right The sun will lead us Our reason to be here The sun will lead us Our reason to be here
What the f... has god to do with this? This wonderful piece of art, as many other masterpieces in painting, cooking, music, architecture, sculpture and literature are all products of THE HUMAN MIND. The beauty of the human mind lies on its ability to express itself through art, there's nothing to do with imaginary beings, they're not "works of god". Please, stop repeating this litany and pay attention to what our wonderful minds are able to do!
to acanti: is it okay with you if each and every one of us interpret this song as we hear and imagine it? Furthermore, is it okay if we express our opinion about it? God fearing, agnostics and atheists alike. thanks.
Our reason to be here...... the LIght - Thank you Jon for always showing us this in your lyrics. I cannot listen to this sound without being overcome with emotion, tears flowing and so at one with the LIght. God Bless you!
When I was in grade school I used to come home from school, sit in my Dad's big recliner and immerse myself in this amazing music from my older brother's collection. This song became my daily refuge. The seeds of my future life were sown in the beautiful solitude of listening to YES music.
my favorite part of this album was always the part right before Soon begins. Right from the point where Alan bangs the drums several times and then they launch into that up tempo instrumental part just before soon. I once saw Steve Howe alone in a night club outside Sacramento, CA and he did a fantastic version of Soon. :-)
I caught Yes' Relayer tour in the mid 70' at Madison Square Garden, New York City. I was young and had no idea at the time what I was taking in. It's a shame that main stream music now a days can't hold a candle to what was common for the time 30 years ago.
We saw the latest incarnation of YES at the end of the February 2010. I missed seeing the "real" lead singer of the band. Hopefully his replacement is temporary.
Jon is pleased to announce the first confirmed date of his "Have Guitar Will Travel" European Tour. More dates and details are expected in the near future.
The best music on the planet period! F_ _ k Rap. Sad news...Yes frontman and founding member Jon Anderson was admitted to the hospital last month after suffering a severe asthma attack. He has now been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure and was told by doctors this weekend that he needs to rest and not work for a period of at least six months or suffer further health complications. Upon receiving this news the band has determined that their tour plans need to be put on hold.
There are few songs that can induce such emotion. This takes me back to the first time I saw Yes. 1977 at the Glasgow Apollo. What memories. All is bliss..I am happy and 30 years younger today.
I really enjoy jon anderson voice & music... it's very peaceful... i think that he has one of the most beautiful voices i've ever head, any voice won't give me the peace and love that i hear from jon's voice.
this is an awesome song. its so epic sounding with the violins and the pedal steel guitar
jon anderson's voice still sounds perfect even 30 something years later. not that many singers from his generation still sound as good as they used too
I completely agree with the above comment. Jon Anderson and Greg Lake used to be my two most favorite male vocalists. Anderson's voice is still awesome particularly considering his age, while Lake's voice is totally different now.
there is no word to describe the strength of this song, the strength which comes into you with all of these instruments...i dont lnow...i m just WOOOW
Yes, I remember. Such a beautiful song, "Soon the light, ours to shape for all time, ours the right, the sound will lead us, our reason to be here." It inspires my faith in God's plan for mankind as centered in Christ, and I don't care what anyone thinks otherwise.
I remember as a child, listing to all my Yes albums, putting on my head phones, and floating away in my mind and on the strings of Steve Howe. Their music will last forever in me and in my children. ( I hope )
Many regard Live at Queens Park Rangers Stadium as even better than Yessongs. Unbelievably it's one of the hardest videos to get. Not anymore, now the MASSES of Yes fans can have easy access to this concert by checking out our new 2DVD set - Yes A Celebration, 1969-1979. It features many Yes videos from the 70s as well as Live at QPR 1975 with improved audio. Click on my profile for clips

This song is about War & Peace, with Soon being peace.....
If only Yes could reconcile their differences and perform once again as this line up.
Life is too short to fuss & fight....
They are truly magnificant together, as one.....
