There are few instances where political jazz has made good art and politics.Dizzy's introduction of Afro-Cuban wasn't political nor were Blakey's afro-centric efforts.This joins Max Roach's "We Insist Freedom Now" (the best example of it working on both levels) and to lesser and more cultural extent Randy Weston "Uhuru Africa".But singers like Gil Scott Herron and others get to both art and politics more easily.This rare where it worked.Now Haden does "neo-con" in non-political way meaning

Saw the original episode of this Night Moves. Hayden was nearly as avante garde as Sun Ra. The more you listen to other versions of the Anthem, the clearer it becomes why Hayden exclaims 'Wow', & 'Man!' at the end of this rendition. Good thing this isn't VHS, I'd wear out the tape.
