  • I still have this game. Still play it on my sega master system to this day.

  • My copy is in a RI Landfill.

  • FFUUUUUUC@@@

  • C'mon Mark, get a real Master System! Also, get a Commodore 64. Right. Now.

  • The NES version looked worse and was missing Ralph....but it lacked this horrible music

  • I remember being a 6 year old kid and my mom bought this for me not realizing the Sega Master System was different than the Sega Genesis. I was like FFFFUUUUUUUUU

  • missed 3 days of school to pass that game, oh good times

  • Teen wolf sucks A-S-S! The original movie was bad!

  • This channel gives me such a damn nostalgiagasm

  • I have Rampage for the Lynx. Good times.

  • they should make a newer rampage

  • i have rampage for the ps2

  • i have rampage 4 ps2

  • i had this for ps1 really scratched up though i need to find it clean it and smash things

  • If I was a giant lizard I'd crush 10 people.

  • i swear to god i need to unsub CGR!!!! I cant even count how much classic games/systems ive picked up to add to my collection thanks to mark.... Less money but alot of great video games.

  • my favorite part was when playing 3 player that you could eat fallen players for extra points. we would always kill faster than the enemys would lol

  • I have this on my Commodore 64. Could never beat it but holy shit good times. Much better than the graphical enhancement sequels to follow.

  • @suspekt29 better tha this version, sms could never match up to the 8 bit computers!

  • I used to play the NES version to an obsessive degree, this version looks quite superior.

  • The Rampage series (at least until the GC/PS2/Xbox era) are the only games which had a maximum number of 3 Players only, I don't remember any to have 3 players only...(even the Universal tour on N64 had 3 although it had more than 3 monsters..)

  • Mark!, if you come across Fantasy zone or Alex kidd in Miracle World you should buy and play them immediatly.

  • lol

  • 2 MEGA POWER!

  • I bought a Sega way back with Christmas money I got one year. This and Outrun were the ONLY games that worked on the machine I had. :-/ I later returned it and ended up getting my mom to pay the difference for an NES. :-D Thanks mom.

  • Sega Genesis Power Base converter generates twice the flickering than a real Sega Master System console! - I had both back in the day.

  • loved the one on nes...shit had me up for fuckin hours till i actually ended one early saturday as a kid smfh lol..,moms was pissed

  • This game looks better on the SMS than the NES, but the NES was also good. I also believe this was one of the first games to have naked people. (When the monsters shrunk and turned back into humans with no clothes.) I could not tell on here, but they may be naked.

  • part 2 is so much better

  • i loved this game

  • know what this review has shown me, all the tech used in games now days has made peopel forget about what games are ment to be: fun.

  • Ah this game was epic! :D I played it on the Xbox with the Midway arcade treasures game.

  • Nice, i have the Nes version..... Ralph is nowhere to be seen :(

  • He Mark is there a way to beat this one? The arcade just went on forever. I know you could beat the nes one but I've never uncovered an ending in this version.

  • First Game with Geo Mod technology

  • I had this game, it came out Summer 2009. I remember it was a big deal back then, because it was one of the only third-party games available at the time. I read about it in Electronic Gaming Monthly #3! I enjoyed the game although with unlimited continues, I was able to finish the whole game in one sitting which was a bit disappointing. But back then I loved any game with 2-player simultaneous action (actually I still do!)

  • @ExpGamerInAsiaRetro Oops I meant 1989 >.< Sorry lost a couple decades there!

  • Oh Man I used play this all the time!! Awesome!! Crap I'm Old~!! hahaha

  • Os your fav character ralph?

  • the sad thing is, if this was released today, it would be slammed for being pro-terrorist.

  • @PinkyPurply Pro-terrorist, insensitive, and racist because 1 of the people that you can eat is [irrelevant skin tone].

  • more master system game reviews PLEASE!!!

  • rampage 3d on ps3 would be AMAZING

  • much better than the NES version, no Wolf and the graphics were almost Atari 2600 quality on that version.

  • wow great port! Im impressed, this is probably the best home version

  • best game! i loved it so much

  • I remember playing this on the computer. It was basically the same game, but with four monsters, better graphics, and it was possible for tow people to play all four monsters. Lots of fun.

  • If there was a Midway VS. Capcom, then George would fight against the Blodia from Armored Warriors and CyberBots.

  • why do you repeat the name of the game over and over and over again? Do you have OCD or something?

  • this game makes my balls so wet

  • this version looks good better than my NES

  • rampage world our was better thumbs up if u agree

  • i remember i have the gameboy version fun times.....

  • You really need to add FM synth to you PowerBase converter, that would be cool :P or use a Japenese MasterSystem with a gender adaptor lol

  • do the 2600 rampage and 7800 rampage and lynx rampage

  • that box is the atari 2600 box but its not

  • i still have rampage 2 on the n64 i use to kick my friend in the balls lol

  • This game was ridiculous!

  • Rampage is great for a quick session, any longer and your asleep. Im not bashing the game itself its great in the arcades, but for home use, not so good.

  • To me, the characters faces look bad. I think the nes version looks better.

  • I had the MasterSystem version, as well. It's the one cartridge game that was with my MasterSystem II when I bought it, so I had 2 games. Of course, if you know about the MSII, then you'd know what the other game was.

  • @knuxthefox

    Alex Kid!?

  • @TheOldschool81 Yes, Alex Kidd In Miracle World

  • GOOD TIME'S

  • I don't remember Ralph on the NES version (then agian that was 20 years ago).....but I know he was in the PSone version. My only complaint is that even the latest version of Rampage can get old after 30-60 minutes.

  • I have this game on my Sega Master System! I also got Rampage World Tour on my Nintendo 64, Midway Arcade Treasures 1 (which includes the Arcade Rampage) and 2 (which includes Arcade Rampage World Tour) on my XBOX and Rampage Total Destruction on my PlayStation 2. I'd rather save the innocent people that are calling for help. I'd also rather eat the people that are attacking me!+

  • I have this game and it is awsome!

  • was this game relased on any other system

  • No better on playstation.

  • sms is 10 times better than nes, it would start up every time you turned it on which is more than the nes can say

  • That boxart is a thousand times better than most for the Master System. Why couldn't more have avoided using the infamous checkerboard style?

  • This game was the fucking shit!!!!!!!

  • @MarkOfTheRebel u got that right friedn

im looking for the PC download now...if u know where to get it let me knwo

  • i love this game, always have

i like all the versions because of the difference in destructability....all good

  • lol this reminds me of how much i like world tour much more since theres more stragity and for some reson i just wanted the better graphics.

  • "stragity"?

  • trying not to die in world tour.

  • he knows that, you just typo'd

  • i love the ps2 version!

  • lol i had the world tour rampage for ps2.... but then i got a 360. ps2 version is rampage world tour

  • Classic game,i also had it on my sega master system along like many others like wonder boy & alex kid...,ahhhh memories.

  • Recently picked this game up for 1,50$, complete with the box in really great shape. Can't wait for it to arrive, seems like a sweet game for the sega master system.

    :>

  • Theirs rampage for the atari lynx also xenophobe it has better graphics I highly recommend getting a lynx with xenophobe and rampage.

  • Stella came in at the end of the recording.

  • wonderful game

  • i remember this game on n64

its freakin awesome i lost it tho

  • @TheHoboGamer i had it there too

  • @TheHoboGamer Yeah I had world tour for PS1. Fun Romp.

  • @TheHoboGamer

    Emulators ahoy!

  • @TheHoboGamer u never had this on n64, u had world tour

  • King Kong, Godzilla, and Teen Wolf.

One of these things is not like the others... At least King Kong got pumped up for his bout with Godzilla.

Rampage was an awesome game... I think I'll go dig my copy up and have some fun.

  • this game brings back memories

  • good game. this is the only cart i have for my SMS. i have the 2 built on games... safari hunt and hang on. NEEED MORE.

  • I know a game named Rampage, but this is not it. I tried googling, but I didn't find it. It was a side scroller and you controlled a green monster. You shot enemies with a variety of weapons. It had a lot of blood, a LOT.

  • i liked the ps1 version alot =)

  • my cousin has rampage for ps2

  • 0:07 Wow, that must surely be the best SMS box art around. Most of them are those horrible pictures on the cheap-looking checkerboard backgrounds. Rampage apparently has a quality image which looks nice in a collection. Good stuff indeed.

  • @Tryzon The best is Master of Darkness.

  • @ResurrectedTemplar Cor blimey, I just looked that up and you're totally right. Why did these two random games get epic front covers and hardly any others did? It's a mystery.

  • @Tryzon Maybe because these are two of a few games on SMS worth playing?

  • You get to play this game and Rampage Universal Tour as a bonus in the new Rampage Game. =]

  • New rampage? which one? For the wii or GC?

  • Its called "Rampage Total Destruction" and I got it for the playstation 2

  • me to

  • WORLD tour, not universal.

  • i kicked the crap out of this game too over multiple stations!!

  • you can buy this off the Playstation Store btw...

  • It's a pretty well known fact (among game collectors) that the best-selling console is NOT the most-powerful console:

ATARI - not as good as intellivision

NES - not as powerful as SMS or Atari7800

SNES - well, there's always an exception to every rule ;-)

PS1 - not as powerful or "clean" as N64 graphics

PS2 - not as powerful as the Xbox or Cube

Wii - not as powerful as X360 or PS3

  • I think the 7800 was not as powerful as the NES. The 7800 was severely limiting in RAM

  • Nope. The 7800 had twice as much RAM as the NES.

Anyway it doesn't matter, because my point still remains - the NES was the #1 console but not the most powerful, being eclipsed by the Sega.

  • Jaguar, 3DO were ahead of their time and sold like crap. PS1 killed them though

  • You are right. But it could be debated as to who REALLY won the 16-bit console war... (fanboys don't care about numbers) And too bad this rule didn't apply to Dreamcast. Is was a great system that was crippled by EA's lack of support, among other things. But you can't have it all. :P

  • mame 32 can play every game from each system :)

  • I used to play this game all the time on the Tandy 2000 computer.

I hated how I couldn't destroy the train without the aid of a second player.

  • ahh...i miss the old arcade of my youth

  • rampage on n64 is my fav

  • Rampage is still one of my all-time favorite arcade games. EGM not including it in their "Top 200 of Their Time" list was a travesty. Same thing for Smash TV/Total Carnage.

  • anyone remember the drama over them being naked when you run out of life?

  • I haven't heard that title screen music in a LOOOOOOONG time :D

  • I liked Rampage for N64 ^^

  • Comment removed

  • yeh

  • goo rampage

  • quality game. The Amiga 500 and Atari ST had good versions of this...

  • I loved this game :) i remeber reviewers use to slag it off!! but its survived the test of time :)

  • Who *couldn't* like Rampage?

  • This version of rampage was the best on the sega master system in the 1980's compared to all other home consoles. The other home console were not nearly as good. Especially the atari 2600. That was horrible. The 7800 was ok, but the controls and graphics were not nearly as good as the sega master system.

  • ive got that game for psp its way cool!

  • What ever happened to that other guy you used to do reviews with?

  • i used to have it for the n64 i thought it was a great game ever

  • i had rampage for the gamecube and it was the worst piece of shit ive ever played

  • and yor a fucking retard that was one of the best versions of the game

  • oh well i thought it was terrible i didnt even understand it because it was retarded

  • you couldn't understand IT because IT's retarded? seeing as games can't have mental problems i'd say that it's the other way around.

  • why must you people have to be so difficult? it was a simple opinion and although you dont have to agree its realy unnecessary to call me a fucking idiot just because i think something different than you do

  • i never once called you a fucking idiot. all i said was thats its the player, not the game. me difficult? you call a GAME retarded then give no reason as to why you think that. YOURE difficult

  • i agree, this game is boring and repetitive,i didnt like in its time, and i dont like it now

  • Your opinion shouldn't be loaded with Curse-words. Opinion is fine, putting curse-words in there takes it elsewhere, then you're just looking for trouble.

  • im sorry about that

if i think about it i may have been enhancing my opinion

  • Funny

  • Take into consideration he is 16. Kid's today think their opinion has to be all "AVGN-like," sprinkled with sentence enhancers. If killer08kenny hadn't phrased his opinion with a ridiculously unprovable statement like " worst piece of shit" it wouldn't have the grating feel. But that's kids these days. it Sucks. Think about it. He'll never know what it's like to walk through an Arcade an pass by Altered Beast or Jungle Hunt trying to decide which to play. His view of what made Hard Core is nil.

  • maybe i wont but its not graphics or controls that get me. its the playability and the concept of the game

  • I remember how stiff the controls were ya, but liked the idea of smashing down buildings. There was nothing like it. Also, you can punch up down left and right, there was new. Sure, repetitive, but so was Gauntlet, Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles, but classics. I liked smashing the windows and seeing what was inside. it could be a lady taking a bath-who would spray you if you didn't eat her right away, Toaster that you had to wait for the toast to pop up or you just ate the metal toaster. Fun, then

  • well im sorry i loaded my opinion in curse words none the less it was a game that i could not fully comprehend i took time to try and understand it and i either couldnt fully grasp the controls but to everyone that is insulting my intelligence by saying i dont know what a good game is, its just my opinion so im sorry if i doubted this oh so holy game

  • It was one of the first Sand box-Destructible environment games. Killing people destroying things, sound familiar? GTA and all the other games involving Destruction and killing people in a city monster or no monster. Also, your 16 dude, very few guys your age can find Rampage entertaining when there are so many newer games. I find Pong Boring partly because I wasn't born during it's hey-day. Then again I can appreciate it's Art and feel because I am a game Graphics designer myself.

  • yes its not all about graphics and things such as that, its about the concept of the game and how it was for the time. using new equipment and technology can be tough at first and hard to fully grasp the capabilities of game or the gaming equipment.if u get what i mean. and also i am training to become a game/graphics designer lol

  • its all good. to each his own, right?

  • Yeah, lets agree to disagree:( NO!!!! BS! If we can't talk and defend our personal reasoning; why even have the stupid comments section?!

  • "*squeaky* *squeaky*"

    Best review line ever.

  • I know what you mean about the failure of increased difficulty over levels. I wonder why they haven't made improvements of gameplay with newer versions, such as the N64 version.

  • "If I was a giant lizard I'd crush you" lol.

I had the N64 version and it was a pretty decent game to play when you're just looking for some fun, simple, gameplay.

  • i like this game very much and i still play its in an old arcade machine near my house

  • That's an interesting sound it makes when you eat someone. It's also interesting that this game has a 3 player max. Usually it's 1, 2, or 4. They introduced more characters in the second N64/PS1 release, and there's another one out for GC/Ps2/Xbox. My experience with Rampage tells me its virtually impossible to stay alive forever. People are just not good vittles.

  • the first version I played was on the playstation, and it was AWESOME :P , I actually finished it the day I got it, I guess it was easy lol

  • I am in love with the nintendo 64 version.

  • there is rampage on the wii

  • I loved the Sega version as a kid, I played the arcade version a few years later and was surprised that the MS version looked BETTER than the arcade one!!!

But did you ever review Rampage World Tour for the original Game Room? It was out around that time on N64 & PS1.

  • The N64 version was pretty fun. I think you would enjoy it if you got your hands on a copy.

  • I once played the arcade version.

My friend ate The Beatles :(

  • wow, this looks way better than the NES version

  • yeah the characters look much nicer and there's 3 of them.

  • Never played the game but remember it

having returned from a London video games

show with an A2 size promo poster for

the game. The poster was much more exciting

    than the game in truth.

  • lol at the end. "If I was a giant lizard I'd crush you"

  • this game looks BRUTALLY hard... what's the furthest you got in it?

  • Actually it's a really easy game.

  • hey Mark great review! are you gonna eventually get to reviewing Rampage for the 2600?

    thanks for posting!

  • I think R:2 did a better version of San Francisco

  • I played that shit for the 64.

  • LOL @ Stella....

I actually played this game all the way to the end on the NES, and the ending was very disappointing.... But, I can say I did it.

  • I used to love this game...but my beef...I dont remember it having an actual ending...I remember playing for hours with no resolve...

  • i like rampage world tour the best

  • My dog went nuts when he heard that squeak toy.

  • duck i love these videos.....keep em cominhg you got a loyal subscriber

  • i thot the oneon th 64 was the first one....wish i would of played this....

  • another great reveiw brotha

    hi stella!
