this is a nice video but really, by far the best way to anticipate is years of playing tennis and knowing your opponent, and yes, i know you say knowing your opponent but its mostly just playing tennis and you will know 95% of the time where the ball is going
Thanks Hawaii pro for the update it is very much appreciated.
In your video titled: Make adjustment to your opponent: short slice counter, at 1:14 seconds into the video you said "if he goes up the line the racket is going to come towards me, if he goes crosscourt the racket comes away from me" Can you expand on that if possible with more detail, as the guys i am playing at the moment are darn good at disguising their shots. Many thanks.
you'll see the face of the racquet--it's a skill, you watch the ball impact the racquet and guess where it's going... and keep doing it...then you discover that often it's where they are on court also that determines what shots come off their frames... BUT some guys hit funny/unorthodox...and those it's about where the face of the racquet goes
Hi Hawaii pro. Can you pleese help me on anticipation. When i am playing i know that the other guys tend to bring the racket in low and try to get under the ball for a spinning shot, so when i see the racket dip i can anticipate their next move. But how can i tell if they are going to go crosscourt or down the line. Are there any racket movements, body cues etc to look for. In what direction do you think does the racket point after striking the ball. Many thanks in advance.
shoulder. watch where their shoulder is, where the shoulder points on the backhand especially, it's generally where they will go. also, watch impact and the few seconds right after
This is a great video. Great analysis and great tips.
