@tmbttes Yes, it was, after this one she got Titanic. Kate was 17 at the time and Melanie Lynskey was 15. Peter Jackson wanted real teenagers, not actresses in their twenties playing high school girls. He wanted it to be authentic.

Therefore the movie was made on the real locations where it happened: school, doctor's office, beach of Port Levy, Ilam (Juliet's mansion), the park. It was like they were back in time. Eery, and it had its effect on the crew. You can find a lot on internet.
