You can use conventional "real" boomerangs but these are "real" boomerangs designed for specific competition events, for example throwing and catching a boomerang 5 times as fast as possible. The current world record for that event is by Adam Ruhf at around 14.5 seconds for 5 catches. Hobby boomerangs have more conventional flight patterns and are often easier to catch. Just remember to buy a real boomerang, as in one that actually works rather than a souvenier or toy.

@JUGGERNAUNT1000 - I do not think there is a store near you but possibly at an air traffic store if you have one locally? You probably need to go online to shop for boomerangs.
