those cupcakes suck. why didnt you use the electric mixer to cream the butter and sugar. the cupcakes would have turned more lighter, and the batter probably would have been smoother. and like someone said the presentation was messy.

I actually made them exactly as was describes.

The cupcakes did not rise at all and were like flat with hard tops.

The frosting was the only edible part and was not even very good.

Nope you dont have to add vanilla extract, just gives it a bit of flavour =)

yep egg makes it soft but it mixes all the ingredients together to create the texture. without the egg it wouldnt combine properly. good luck!
