The only ones who really lose money on piracy is game developers, since they don't go on concerts to let people play games, nor do they let people play the games in the movie theaters, so yeah.
my dad is a music producer and he has been telling me that piracy was really bad like getting it free from a website that doesn;t have sertain privelages. But he said that copying music from a Cd was ok as long as you didn't sell it to make profit as some people do.
I think that the figures should be swapped a bit. Let's give the labels and the industry 15% and the artist the other 85%. We need to get the bands to stop relying on concert revenue in order to survive in the music world. I've often wondered how many amazing bands we never heard because they were washed out in the tidal wave financial refuse and improper amounts of profit.
Instead of these labels checking linear charts and their pocketbooks, they should let music reach us without problems.
Piracy is nothing more than a "boogie man" that artists and developers come up with when their publisher or CEO comes down on their ass for poor point of sale performance.
These rich white CEOs are the ones bitching about piracy. They only whine about it because they need another yacht, or another scandinavian hooker.
Welcome to the world of industry. More to the companies, less for the individuals. Industries juice so much money out of the artists they'd obviously survive any threat of piracy for more than a year. They will panic at the slightest sign of lower benefits (like 99,999,999 instead of 100,000,000) and do all they can to take the little dollar back, but they will leave their artist behind at the slightest sign of trouble.
I thought of an idea That will allow artists to share the music they make and Bypass Itunes and Riaa. From watching other videos like Piracy is good? Ive concluded that bands could use Bittorent to Get the music out. Like they could make a website and Sell Digital songs and Albums Through the sites then give the person a torrent link to use.
Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails have already tried this route. They didn't make much money off of the music that way, but they made more than what the recording industry would have given them per song if the records had been produced by the industry
Trent Reznor says: "Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealin'. Because one way or another these fucks will get it through their head that they're ripping people off and that that's not right."
I wonder if there is a way to maybe boycott the Itunes Market. And the riaa. they ve been putting the rub on people who shared music with friends. Like all of us.i mean if you take a cd and rip it and give it to a friend and its called Piracy. And yet the Artist is still not getting enough to pay the fees in some cases because of what keeps happening with the riaa and i tunes.
What the hell did the recording industry do when people made mixtapes in the 80s for their girlfriends and how is it different from burning a CD for a friend or "making illegal copies"? Were cassette tapes instruments of piracy? No.
Screw iTunes, and screw the cancerous iPod and its symbol of congruity. Jobs is rolling in dough because he "invented" a mp3 player. And he'll always be rolling in it because he keeps changing and "re-inventing" it. Music is the top selling thing online. Apple needed a cash cow to reap massive profits.
We need to get more word out there about the Creative Commons, and hope that more artists use it and lose the age old "greaseball-signs-a-band-and-steals-the-money" bullshit.
But, when you look at music videos they bring out, and another user brings out the exact same video, just adding a 1 sec or 2 min to make it theirs, they did nothing to stop them. Is That really fair when mine may not sound at all like theirs, but that user can keep stolen content on this site? Tell me what you think.
This is getting ridiculous. If only some Swedish conglomerate had bought YouTube instead of Google. I think that people who own nonprofit sites like this should have a lassez-faire attitude and fail to comply with the whiny companies bitching about their video and audio being reproduced in a low quality, 30 second clip. I might be recording soon, and I won't give two shits if my music is downloaded 4 million times. To me, 4 million downloads are 4 million fans.
interesting side, you did your work well cass, I must say. Now, I want to learn something else about music. UMG is the largest conglomerate on youtube I can imagine, I see them putting music on youtube, then when I put my song (not video) on there, wether supported by original cd or not, lets say, they will delete my music, saying it's copyright to their works.
Agree, all the way. Although I do think I heard that revenue generated from concerts has (at the very least) a much higher revenue ratio going straight to the artists. And concert fees come straight from the label's pockets.
Still, though, if the biggest source of revenue is from CDs, I think the artists should definitely get that. After all, the record labels do nothing but provide the recording. With enough starting money, the artists could get that easily. Where would they be, then?
Wow. That is honesty the best informative video ive ever seen. This is why i subscribed to you.I cant believe what they do to the bands that sell CDs. So i dont see whats the difference with piracy and Buying a CD or songs off of iTunes. To bad most file sharing sites have loads of hidden viruses, maybe you could reconmend a couple site for the viewers. Its really hard coping with Limewire.
exactly. if you want to support the artists, go on their concerts, or just send them money. the 18th century-styled distribution system is simply obsolete with the internet and p2p. plastic discs in plastic boxes covered with plastic with plastic tags and also plastic plastic are bad for the environment, anyway.
Song was called "night court" by Mux Mool. You can download it and other sweet tracks for free if you go to Adult Swim's website. Or google "ghostly swim" for the free downloadable compilation album. I think Adult Swim uses the songs in between shows.

This is where the line draws thin. Many courts are having problems deciding what is labeled "piracy" and what isn't.
For example, if I downloaded a song illegally and gave it to you, it would be considered piracy.
If I recorded it on a cassette and gave you a mixtape, it wouldn't. Both have the same outcome, but different legal aspects.
Radio is also a weird exception. You get FM for free. Wow, free music! How does listening to the radio differ from you streaming a song?

If you want to get good songs from the watchdog idiots like UMG and WMG, there is a simple way of getting it: STEAL IT.

And the riaa is bitching on piracy because they get no money. I say give the bands all the money,And none to the RiAA.

Hear hear. The RIAA should get the tiny percentage, not the artists.

Great video!!! Very informative =]

Piracy is not a problem, since the tools of industry are in the hand of the protesters and not in the hand of the repeller force.
High frequency sound weapons became ineffective against them, since large
cheap plastic echo mirrors, the pirates are using (plus earplugs) by introducing their attack.
So piracy is not a problem only launching guided torpedo from the tourist or payload ships only.
