i have a problem running the game, cos it asks me for a kinda code with some lands and their location based on some compas directions ( N ; NE ; E ; SE; etc.). i belive it must be written on some kinda cd cover. can anyone help me pls?
yeah got it today, ion 3rd level and now its got hard. There so many ways to make it more gameplayable. killed from 2 hits off the big demons, then when you change level you keep whats in your kitty all teh cows and corn doesnt get added. :@:@:@
If you find the cd version of this, the cut scenes are actually movies vs pictures with voice and so far the music is cd audio tracks different from the smaller download pack that's seems to be everywhere of this game. (i am only up to the second chapter however)
Because that's how I got my version of "The Horde", in six folders with files inside them, and I try to install it using DOSBox the usual way and when I boot up Part 1 it goes "Part1.pkg" and a series of dots come then closes, I try it again and it says "Part1.pkg Overwrite? [Y\N]" and if I press Y it does the same thing and if I press N it closes. SOMEBODY HELP ME!!
Before the industry sold its soul to EA, before beauty had requisite patent software like Steam and when games were made by organizations small enough to listen to their customers.
Vivendi, EA, Blizzard. If EA had successfully managed to force Rockstar Games out of the industry, these are the three remaining players monopolizing - and destroying - the games industry.
The beauty is gone. The creativity is gone. The fun is gone.
If you're talking about games that are sold on the shelves of stores like EB and GameStop, then yes, that's certainly true. I haven't seen a game worth playing in those places in years.
Thankfully, the homemade game community manages to produce some remarkably original, entertaining, and playable works of art, and they're usually free, too.
it's my favorite game ! I found it on a pc magasine as a demo. I bought it in the year 2000 for 10 euros, but i can't play it very far, because it contain a bug. The game's stop after the second year. I love the funny music when the horde is comming to shimto plains ! :)
The Horde was released in 1994 by Crystal Dynamics, although it was developed by Toys For Bob (famous for Star Control 2). Getting it is the same as any abandonware game: Check eBay, or your friendly neighborhood abandonware dealer. ;) The plot basically places you in charge of defending the kingdom against the Horde, which are those monsters you see invading during the action sequence.
I agree with Sarato. I think it's a little later than most DOS Games I play though. This looks like a '94 game i'd say. As for you kids I pity you because you wouldn't know gameplay if it hopped up and bit you. There's nothing quite like playing an old game of Pirates!(1987) or Pinball Fantasies(1992).

I forgot about this game too. Like completely. I was watching my GF play Viva Pinata and for some reason it spurred a memory of this!
I was really quite young and remember it being pretty damn hard, but loving the challenge.

It's kind of hard, yes. You should be able to get it from the usual abandonware sources.

I saw this game being played once as a child and I wanted it REALLY badly. My mother never bought it. Now maybe I'll have the chance to play it...

How do you install it using DOSBox if the files aren't on a CD?

only one attack move? lame
Stezzanz 4 years ago
It's mostly meant to be a strategy game... The "action" sequence is sort of icing on the cake, so it's not made to be very elaborate.

hehe I was being sarcastic, I loved this game to bits, am tempted to play it even today
