  • great workout - could definitely feel it in my abs (and a sore neck too, but I know how to relieve that). The only problem I had was in the side planks, it wasnt my abs that made me stop, it was that my shoulder was hurting from pressure, and there wasn't a way that I could relieve the pressure on my shoulder and still do the exercise.

    but I could definitely feel this. This added to a lower calorie/fat/sodium diet, and it will help me tone up just in time for school to get back! thanks! :)

  • is it normal for my arm that is holding my body up to hurt at the hip lifting exercise? it's very difficult for me to lift my body up too. am i doing something wrong?

  • @oDREAMERRo If your shoulders are weak, that could explain it. The shoulder and arm is working very hard to hold the body up in that position. Make sure you're in proper alignment (hand under shoulder) to avoid pain, but if it's still too difficult, you'll have to modify. Come to the elbow and/or knees or drop your bottom knee to the ground during the side planks.

  • great video. my doctor advised me to do pilates because of my lower back pain and i was just wondering what pilates exercises would u advise me to do to treat my back pain. i noticed that when doing the 'roll up' i feel so much pain in my lower back. i also feel pain when doing 'the hundred'.

  • @FlashJack2189 Most Pilates exercises will strengthen the core and the deep abdominal muscles as well as the lower back. This video should be good to start with although you should check with your doctor first since you experience back pain. If it hurts, then don't do a particular exercise.

  • i did this last summer.. made a difference! i did this everyday. but then a few months later, i got lazy and i had no time because school got in the way.. but since it's the spring break... this is a great time to do this again. :)

  • I just had foot and knee surgery, so this works for not being able to go running and do a full workout. Any more ideas on exercises when I don't have full use of my right leg...let me know! THANKS!!!

  • @katiealanna Actually, yes! Pilates is safe to do daily since it doesn't work your muscles to fatigue (and therefore require resting/rebuilding) the way traditional strength training does.

  • 06:30 is very hard one to do i guess. but in one side, i can do it perfectly, but on the other side it is just impossible. will it burn the belly fat? im doing this workout on the second time since last night. hope it helps. thanks

  • Cardio burns belly fat--not toning exercises like these. Both are important!

  • If Cardio Burns belly fat not toning excercises, I'd say Swimming as well as this!

  • Pilates seems like a good option for me, I'm going on a six week vacation so i have lots of time, my question is how many classes are safe to do concurrently (or day to day)

  • Oooo I'm excited to start using your video! I took a dance class in high school and we had to do Pilates to warm up and I lost like 3 pant sizes. Unfortunately I didn't have dance class the next year so I gained my weight back. Ive been wanting to start do them again, but could not remember any of the exercises. But this is the perfect video!   • Sit ups don't "spot reduce" belly fat. You need cardio (on top of pilates or strength training) to lose weight in the belly area.

    i found that by switching to low cal, and "light" products, as well as baked instead of fried, plus i have done no cardio, except walking, and i have lost 4 inches!

  • Do some squats with a barbell on your shoulders. If you don't have one, get a dumbell, hold it in your hands in front of your chest and do the squats. Half squats. If you don't have the dumbell either, just hold anything that's heavy. You must be having something quite heavy at home.. like a huge bottle of water, the 5 litre ones, or.. I can't think of anything else at the moment.. but man, you can get some.. just move around the house.. or the gym!

    If you're talking about the one where you're on your back, other pilates instructors have recommended using towels rolled up under your neck.

  • No, it's not suppose to hurt. It means you're centering your efforts in your neck, not in your core where you're suppose to. Check your posture and make sure to work from your core...you'll see the difference. Best of luck. :)

  • yes, your neck is supposed to hurt because your body is not used to liftinq your head up; after you do this a couple of times the pain in your neck will qo away. trust me ii was the same way.

  • i don't believe your neck is suppose to hurt maybe you should try another exercise because your neck is a very important part of life it would be horrible if you were to damage it...

  • with pilates you gain maximum benefit with only a few repetitions. if you over do it , you wont get results faster. the key is keeping awareness of your abs and keeping them pulled toward the spine. you execute all movements as precisely as you can, dont go fast, go slow and controlled, in a week youll feel strength

  • If it has been working for you can you please tell me what exercise you're doing?

    I have been doing this for about a week, once a day combined with 40 mins of cardio and 30 mins of bodybuilding 4 times a week.

    If anyone knows of a good diet to go with this please let me know, I'm vegetarian but I get plenty of protein.

    Someone told me that just doing that would make you melt, but I guess I can find alternate ways of excercising when I have time. But I'll continue with pilates and yoga.

  • I think one reason your neck hurts more is beacuse your trying to look up at the screen while your on the floor... at least that's what's going on with me.

    I also love how in pilates you focus on breathing, it seems to take my mind off the "pain". :)

  • Your neck could also hurt because your abs aren't strong enough yet to keep up with coach Nicole. That's why people find their neck hurting usually during the first couple of weeks of ab-excercising. Your neckmuscles also try to carry the weight of your upper body, instead of your abs doing all the work. If your neck still hurts after more than a couple of weeks, you're doing the excercises definitely wrong.

  • i do pilates as part of my acting course and over the past few months i have noticed a definate improvement in my stomach muscles and legs! i would recommend pilates to anyone!
